I just turned 70. "Do nothing, if you don't know what to do." Sound advice. I'd also add that you can never get back the time you spent worrying.

"When you don't know what to do, do nothing." This is so good. I'd find somethings to constantly do and hope something would stick. At the end, I've spent so many resources as opposed to just waiting.

I am 46, and will say this. When I had no children, I should have continued to pursue my college education and really think about what career was it I wanted in Life. Therapy would have been great for me in my twenties, and would have helped me to make a conscious, healthy decision to not have children. This is my Truth and I am standing in it. I had children more out of emotional reasons. In my opinion, them emotions led me to wrong type of men.
At them times in my life, I was wrong, so then two wrong men came flowing in my life. The children are young adults, and believe me it would have been best for all three of us, If I chose better and different.
Their life and mine would have turned out better. God's Honest Truth. Ladies, never ever have children for emotional reasons.
It takes much Love, Time, Care, Money and Sacrifice to Raise Children whether you are a married woman or single.
Be very conscious of the decision to have children, remember you are a Mother to that child for the rest of their Life. Ask yourself "Are you Ready for the Journey"?
It is important to have them from the RIGHT MAN Also! Know that man's genealogy, so you know what Seed you are carrying.
That is extremely IMPORTANT! Never have babies by a man who is not in Love with you, cares nothing about you, and will not be in the Children's Lives at all.
It is not good for yourself or the unborn children.

This is great advice, especially for young women. We often get into motherhood without even an understanding of what it takes. Once you in, it’s already too late. You have the option to strive on to give the children a good mother or be one of those horrible bad moms.

Absolutely right and women should not be guilt tripped or told their race is being genocided or asked to be factories for other infertile couples. Pregnancies have irreversible consequences on the body.

Happy, Happy birthday Mr. Roker!!! I wish you many, many more!!!
I remember RACING home from school to watch Ms. Oprah because she was the epitome of what I wanted to become: a professional, smart, outspoken, wise, culturally prideful, and caring woman. Although I never grew out of being an introvert, I'm definitely outspoken in my writing! Losing my mother at an early age, I embraced Ms. Oprah's philosophies as if MY life depended on them (because in a way, they did). When she began her book club, I was beyond ecstatic. As an African American teen, at no time in my life had loving to read been considered "normal" behavior... until her book club came into existence.
In life, you don't always need to know who you're affecting to make a conscious decision to affect another person's life. Thankfully, Ms. Oprah made that decision. Consequently, I will ALWAYS honor her for those precious moments. I wish her many days of rainy goodness with excellent books, blankets, and loving pets.
    God bless you both!

Glad to see her partner Stedman Graham was there for her at key moments in her life (Tina Turner's wedding, the 2024 DNC convention speech, etc.). Oprah is so very fortunate at 70 to share her thoughts and inspirational moments about life and living to the fullest. The recent passing of Phil Donahue is a reminder of those who were the true pioneers who cleared the path for others to follow. Phil took risks and used his platform to speak out against unjust wars to the point he would rather be fired by MSNBC than be a useful tool to the powerful.

🙋 I turn 70 in 2 weeks and I’ve decided that at least once a week I’m going to dress like a 7 yr old. I got an early start today and wore bohemian harem pants and a shirt with a beautiful turtle on it that says Just a Girl Who Loves Turtles. Next stop, Walmart. Here’s to never growing up! 🎉

@@charlayib I needed to think about this one, and I liked your comment because it is truly, very insightful. One question, if we know whatever the thing is a bad thing to do, how come that part of us does it in faith anyway? In other words, why do we sabotage ourselves? I am very curious to hear your answer

@@alexperkins8433 It has been extremely lucrative for all parties concerned. She did the right thing in creating her own network towards the tail end of her syndicated show. The world is constantly changing. Had she taken time off and waited until she felt like it she would have lost her wield of influence over her demographics. Interest in her endorsed projects would have waned and her magazine and spin offs hosted by Oprah's anointed two swami gurus might not have inherited her base followers. It could have been alot worse, imagine her other fav Deepak Chopra running his own show.

Oprah's one regret in life should be not paying actors and actresses for their work.
