Lovely little bike! I've been a lover of the single cylinder bike for many years, since I got my first bike in 1971. I've owned big bikes and small bikes, and love the single cylinder make. I started a facebook owners group devoted to the single cylinder motorcycle called "Thumper Lovers". We have a little over 300 members in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, and Australia. I would LOVE to see this bike sold in the US! I'm sure our members of the Thumper Lovers would love to get their hands on this bike and take it out on the road for a good flogging. I look forward to seeing more test rides done on other new single cylinder bikes as well!
That’s great John I must admit I love them too, I’ve recently sold my CCM spitfire Six single. Lots of videos on the channel on that if you fancy a look. Cheers!
Great review as always Jake enjoyed it. Would I own one? I could honestly not feel comfortable spending that kind of money on one although must admit I love the look and sound of the bike but like my other favourite the Fantic Caballero looks count for nothing when it comes to trade in time and the limited options you would end up with tis a nice bike though ticks a lot of my personal boxes for fun ride.
That's not a bad lookin bike there Jake chunky lookin front tyre on her , pricey when you compare the price of an Interceptor .I do quite like it nice simple electronic free riding and a good bark to it too no need to change the silencer there .Avon tyres I haven't heard to much about them lately , does the warranty cover engine and cycle parts then as a matter of interest .Chinese engines no problem to me I think they are just getting better and better since they are in a lot of bikes these days .good watch mate well done 😉👌👍
Definitely had a nice bark and pop from the exhaust Malcolm , sounds great! I also like the raw riding experience too. The Avon tyres performed well tbh without any issues thankfully. I’m sure the bike comes with a full warranty covering parts and labour which is great for piece of mind. This engine is also built in the Same factory as some other well known brands on the market today, reliability is definitely on the up I would say with Chinese motors. Cheers Malcolm 👍
Its a good looking bike and I like the noise it makes being a single, thing is though its twice the price of a Brat 125 ( I have one) but its the same weight and same dimensions, so at first look it would seem a bit pricey which is off putting, seven large is a lot of money for a bike that put next to mine don't look dissimilar ? One thing I'll mention is the digital dash on mine which is 17% out, It say's 60mph but its actually 50mph, to do 30mph the speedo has to say 37mph, not sure if it can be re calibrated and TBH i'd change it for something bigger and more accurate if possible, the one on the bike can be bought off fleabay for £20 ... : (. I like the blue/grey color. might even spray mine the same, mines copper which is different but not when most of the Brats sold buyers pick the copper color. The filler cap looks the same as mine and its a faff because it don't snap shut, you close it and turn the key to lock it, I am however really pleased with mine overall it does ride great and feels well planted round bends, I would buy a Brute but I'll wait for a 2nd hand one I think ! P.S. Had to take the sump guard off mine and respray it, the quality of the finish on the frame is abysmal, it’s a 1 coat crinkle finish directly onto bare steel, no primer, the welds are going rusty and I’ve only done 1200 mls, hopefully on the Brute they’ve recognised the problem and have addressed it
Yes would have thought the second hand market would eventually have a fair amount available. Don’t think they’ve been out that long but not sure, also your speedometer should definitely be fairly easy to calibrate. Have you recently had a front tyre fitted maybe causing a difference in reading your speed. Cheers 👍
@@RiderReviewsYes it was simple enough but when I phoned Herald the tech guy I spoke to didn’t have a clue how to do it and advised me to take it back to the shop because it’s still under warranty, he fumbled around when asked about the gearbox oil type as well ??
I thought ABS was a legal requirement for bikes to be sold new now? I also thought it was a requirement for them to pass the latest emissions tests? Not that either would puy me off thus bike. My only issue is that it's possibly a bit expensive for what it it. Don't get me wrong. I am very tempted by the big single, which is something lacking in the market these days.
As the Brute is made to (MSVA) Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval , it is not required to follow EU or feature ABS. The same applies for bikes such as the CCM range. These single cylinder larger capacity bikes are great fun to ride and with unique styling too. I’d recommend a test ride. Cheers.
@RiderReviews why is MSVA different to EU rules? Is it because Britain isn't part of the EU anymore? I would also consider a CCM. Different/higher price bracket though. Shame they aren't currently offering a supermoto. A real lack of new supermotos in the market! This 450 thumper would be great for a supermoto.
Since the Chinese factory this engine comes from, also make engines for Aprilia... it's fine. Now that Langen have got fuel injected 2-strokes through emissions tests, and there are no new 2-strokes in Europe... perhaps that's the niche British engine manufacturers should look into???
@RiderReviews indeed. Very expensive for what it is. Now that the technology/engine is developed, it seems downright cruel for them not to develop affordable variants.

Thanks a good looking bike, nice to see a big single, a rare beast these days. :)
Was great fun to ride! Yes not many large capacity singles in this category.
Great review as always Jake enjoyed it.

Many thanks glad you enjoyed it! Would love a ride on a Fantic Caballero.
others things i would love to know is insurance group, mpg etc
Not sure on the insurance group tbh but MPG should be around 55mpg

@wolfpackpete6408 loads of MSVA information online at Gov.uk site if you fancy some bed time reading….

Really do love the look of the Langen…very interesting technology too, but sold in very limited numbers.
