People talking about bayonets being pointless wouldn’t be saying that if they were fighting in maize fields and stumbled across the enemy as you needed to/we’re changing a magazine. They’re still a necessary part of warfare in certain situations!
Dominus Providebit no people get isolated it’s not the movies where your back to back with the rock or mark walburg fighting. if someone next to you is reloading or is taking fire and you stumble apon and enemy and your reloading it will save your life. There also fighting in literal corn fields like mazes. What do you mean moving without clear knowledge? If they had clear knowledge they would just shoot everyone through the fields and war is over

One of our platoon commanders was decorated for saving a guys life in a bayonet fight. They definitely were used.

I'm not having a go but you can see the fear in Kemp's face when they fix the bayonets and rightly so there's a big difference between having idiots shoot you from a distance than up close and personal respect to him and all the soldiers

Been watching the American version of this.. U.S troops are way more trigger happy, overly aggressive, kill a lot of innocent people and interesting to note that their equipment is way more advanced than what us Brits get kitted with. Although our troops are a lot fitter.

Is it legal for him to carry at least a handgun as a non-combatant in a war zone or does he have complete faith in Delta squads ability to not be overrun?
Depends on the situation and location as to if it is technically legal to carry, but if a reporter carries a weapon, they cease to be (just) a reporter and can be shot at.
The theory is, that 'nobody' has any interest in (specifically) shooting a member of the press due to the bad publicity.
His blue helmet and vest is supposed to keep him 'safe', but in the episodes where goes back to Afghanistan two years later, he's in camo because the Taliban had begun specifically targeting correspondents.
He could have something hidden for when the SHTF, but he never shows or talks about it. Unfortunately, since he's on camera, he has to play by the rules, even if the other side doesn't.
It would make him a combatant, not to mention that it would conflict with journalistic ethics. That said... From my understanding, he was given some instruction on how to use the L85a2 (SA80) and I don't doubt that he and even the camera man would pick up a rifle to defend themselves if necessary.

The last British bayonet charge by the British army was more than 36 years ago and that was just for the media. Your a fool with no information.
@@lampred9697 In fact the us haven't done a bayonet charge since 1951! Both the Brits and Us have scaled back almost entirely from bayonet training as most troops no longer even have bayonets anymore! I happen to be well educated on the matter you loud mouth.

Yep he would have killed half the regiment 🤣. There isn't room for an untrained guy covering his own arcs completely uncoordinated from the rest of the men around him. He likely had a private CP detail of 4 guys like other none combatants, thats how it works with the MO (medical officer, not combat medic) and clergyman

The witcher Alexander the Great was never defeated in battle so how the hell could the Macedonians lost half their army. The only reason India didn't become part of Alexanders empire is because his own troops defied him and refused to fight anymore. Hence why Alexander led them back to Macedonia through a desert which killed a shit load of his own troops as punishment for defying him. Also Hindu didn't control Afghanistan, most of it was owned by the bactrians and other ethnic groups that were part of the Persian empire.
