    He was cut off @ 1:28 into the video when he was trying to explain that the car is good for mid sevens at 185mph. Reason being is because when you see the interior, he is not running a certified ten point cage, let alone a ten point cage period, which is mandatory at 8.50 so he is clearly holding back to avoid getting booted from the track. Killer car...

      That’s why he was leaving pretty slow, probably launching at a lower rpm

      If I had never seen this. That thought would have never crossed my mind. I was wondering why he was easing it so much off the launch.

      That and an old school LT-1 with a single turbo can't do 7's in the 1/4, there's just not enough power there to do it no matter how big the turbo is. That's well into the 1200+ HP range and those turbos don't make that much power to begin with. 1200hp from a LT-1 would blow it up in 2 passes even if it did make it. Also he doesn't have the cage like you said so whom ever this was that guy was full of shit.

    Nice to see another non LS powered car. As an owner of an gen 2 LT1 powered Impala SS I know the potential these motors have. The early Optispark design and location gave these engines a bad rep. Once you fix those issues, it's as good as, if not, better than any other SBC.

      oh, and one thing - hatch is only a way to close/enter the trunk/boot/luggage compartement etc. (its a bit like you would say "its not an engine bay, its a hood")

    I have an N/A stroker lt1 and it runs solid 11's. people are always surprised that it's so fast 'for an lt1'. People give these motors alot of shit but once you open them up, they're actually very powerful and dependable. I've have a few of them and they definitely feel and sound like old school motors. The absolute worst design flaw with them tho is the opti.

    A lot of people judge Lt1, always about there opti spark or vacuum leaks. There good motors as any ls1.. Its much more easier to build if you are on a budget. its nice to see people still build them

    • @yamahondarider
      @yamahondarider 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the LT1, but neither of those statements are true. They are heavier than the LS1, the heads on LS motors are far superior as are the internals and fuel/ignition systems, and the cost of LT1-specific heads make it more expensive to build. But thats just technology progressing as time went on, you can't fault the LT1 for that. the LT1 was out of the box superior to the majority of factory stock gen 1 SBCs and you can still make good power with them. I'm going LT1 in my '88 Trans Am over LS because fitment is easier and I only want around 350whp which is easily done with a fairly aggressive cam and bolt ons with stock heads and intake on an LT1.

    • @carlosavalos4900
      @carlosavalos4900 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where i live thats all we see is lt1 its rare to see ls1 but for us its cheaper to build and plus its much easier to work on, already doing a semi build on my formula v8 just have a cam with spring valve and rockers and headers with cai and im beating ls1 and 5.0

      1320video just a question about the rear mount does it take a lot longer to spool considering it needs to build pressure between the head to the exhaust side of the turbo??

      Harold Lee that's a good question, I'd like to know more as well

    its turbo may spool slower than a front mount, but the overall car's quality makes a great combo.. and a hell of a back half.

    Finally not an lsx swap. Dont be fooled i love LSx swap(I had a 3rd gen lsx swap trans am) but besides that point some people get so brain washed with LSx engine swap like they are so superior then an SBC or LT1 but they fail to realize they can make just as much power as any LSX (383 SBC vs 383 LSx will make the same power with good heads such as AFR and good custom cam....Favorite car so far. 3rd gen. 2nd Gen LT1 Turbo. Full Interior. Sub in the back. A/C. A true street car!

      I have an 84 Firebird with 28k original miles that I am finishing now and I chose to swap in a 93 LT1/M29 T56. I even had a complete 6.0/Doug Nash 4+1 5spd setup. I really like sticking to the LT1, goes against the status quo. I also own a Procharged 96 SS Camaro with 34k on the clock. Might just do another LT1 swap on an 85 C10. I am actually considering selling my 6.0 setup to help fund a better build in the 84. I like being the black sheep with the LT1. They can make good power as this video proves. Underrated for sure!

      Lt1 are much easy to build on a budget mostly you see them camaro with ls1 but lt1 are good as a ls1 if you build them right

    Wil a rear mount work on the mqb platform in particular the mk7 gti/ R . A twin turbo mk7 would be untouchable. You can go is20/is38 upfront and mount a gt35 at the rear.

      Something Funny Yea, this one is a swap of course. 93-97 Camaro's had the LT1 and of coure Vettes from that era besides the 97 Vette going to the LS1
