Agreed! your bound to get a good conversation with him if you had a nice pint with him or something and he uses his art to be a messenger for Humankind good art always does this. cheers!
You watch this clip, and you understand why Napalm Death are one of the world's most relevant bands in world music. This is the best album in 2015 for sure.
Just bought the new album, great stuff as usual. The great thing about ND is they seem to be driven by the deep injustices in the world, they've never sold out, and never diluted their integrity, unlike pretty much every act in mainstream entertainment. One of the few bands I've consistently listened to for over 20 years. Keep it real
what i love about Napalm Death is that their lyrics are about social issues that we NEED to know about. so fuckin sick of bands who write about fantasy bullshit like goblins vampires, zombies and that type of shit that does nothing for humankind at all. its candy ass suburbia shit. now, people, take note of two words Barney says, "unnecessary consumption". it boils down to this, we dont need 95% of the shit that is pushed on us. even when it is dressed up like ad agencies do, we still dont need it. what we do need is a good life and that happens by being as simple as possible in your ways of living. ad agencies arent going to promote that at all. instead they use trigger words and images and strategies, which are all known psychological strategies, or more commonly known as propaganda.. a few examples: in your town, watch the commercials of your local businesses. notice they use their kids in their commercials. they do that because when mr an mrs jones see a cute kid and they both say awww how cute!. that company has now implanted their brand in your mind. later, you may need something like what they sell, and youll think of that cute little kid. thats a form of branding. in my mind its dirty play and that company will do anything for money, including teaching that kid that she or he is a tool to make money. next: listen to the wording of these ads, they use trigger words like family, love, future for our kids. every where you look you can see these words and many many more. they are trigger words they use so they can brand us 20 seconds later and we remember that commercial. whether we need what it has to sell or not, we are branded. the big agencies figured this out many yrs ago and now its so fuckin common to purposely trick and bs us that now, even your local businesses are using their tricks against us, so that we buy their uselss shit. dont let them trick you, you dont need their shit to live a good life.
I can definitely relate to his description of hostile workplaces. I'm not a slave and am not whipped but it doesn't matter. It's modern day, I shouldn't be in a place where I can easily compare my job to slavery.
It's tough to dispute a brilliant track-by-track analysis, especially when it comes directly from the source. Just 4 months into 2015, I think the year's best album has already arrived. :)
Could anyone please print what Mark said on the first song? I couldn't make out some details :( Great thanks to Mark for the explanation and for the lyrics, I'm under impression. Long live the smart people!
sorry its been a while, but i've just seen your comment now. he said ' apex predator - easy meat. it's evolutionary terminology. an apex predator is that which sits at the top of the food chain and in this instance i was referring to big business and big corporations and the way the willfully treat employees in other parts of the world in really heinous working conditions and pay and various things. the easy meat is actually those who are subject to those working conditions. it's also about consumption and disposal in the way some parts of the world merely consume; other parts of the world are merely manufacturing, and then they take they crap at the end.'
In this maelstrom I create I'm always blind and spinning. Why I play this fucking game when I am never winning? A brutal end to such a life, it seems so very fitting. Fuck this shit! Why should I play a game when I'm not even represented?
Barney is such a cool guy, love listening to him talk about these types of social issues. Great singer, legendary band, napalm rule!

It almost takes Barney longer to explain the songs than the length of the song itself.

I always think of the novel 1984 when I listen to Napalm Death. They hit upon relevant topics that actually mean something.

I wonder how many jobs Barney has quit? That'd be an interesting interview discussion.

Ive loved that album all the way through 2015 and now - this was very insightful
From 2015 and I'm learning something......
What I love the most of napalm death it's his vast history
I have the feeling that Barney said a lot more to each song, but the clip was cutted to go for only 16 minutes.

This album kicks so much ass!
Great influence.

I always kind of assumed 'How The Years Condemn' was written about Jesse Pintado, but apparently I was wrong. Still a beast of a song.

ONE OF THE BEST, MOST FUCKING BRUTAL AND MOST FUCKING AGGRESSIVE DEATH METAL ALBUMS IN THE WORLD !!! 🤘🤘
In this maelstrom I create I'm always blind and spinning.
Why I play this fucking game when I am never winning?
A brutal end to such a life, it seems so very fitting.
Fuck this shit!
Why should I play a game when I'm not even represented?
Too bad humans with moral couldn't exit this shit show and watch the rest try to devour each other. That would be justice.
SONIC BLAST!!!! ARGHH
