you are mistaken. there's no chip that thing the machine did to their necks was a blood sample. What Basim was talking about here was Finrr(his son) revenge on Odin/Eivor as an Irony.
The idea for this story is great, but can I say it was handled terribly? 80% of the main story is spent dealing with situations and characters that have absolutely nothing to do with Sigurd and Basim. And the Asgard arc is fully optional. Basim being the final antagonist comes straight out of nowhere.
If you took the genuine time to do the Asgard and Jotunheim arks, uncover all of the animus anomalies, and understood it all, yes, it is worthwhile. Except for the other 80% of the game which had nothing to do with the main story; it felt like a side quest, the bad kind.
Honestly, same. There is a really good story here, maybe the best of the RPG trilogy, but sidelining the meat of the story (the Asgard arc) and constant deviations from the main story end up diluting it too much for it to shine as it should. I fear this is because of Ubisoft’s disdain for the more sci-fi elements of the series, which they push out more and more from the main spot of the games. I don’t know, it would have been cool that Odin revealed the nature of their connection to Eivor, so when Basim’s betrayal came it would make sense, having played the mythological arcs or not, or hell, just make the mythological arcs mandatory. But in my mind, I guess it meant giving center spot to the weirder, more contrived elements of the series and Ubi didn’t want that so, yeah. A pity, for it had potential, but at least there are still moments here and there where the story shines regardless.
Honestly the whole Asgard thing was my most hated part of the game, because of how horrendously out of place it is, and I thought it was extremely boring, to the point I literally fell asleep playing, which has never happened before
All of this is blowing my mind. Basim is Loki, Sigurd is Tyr, and Eivor is Odin. The only thing I don't understand is what was that ghost or hologram of Odin appearing beside Eivor in the memory corridor after killing each of the order members and just before the boss fight with Basim?
Pretty sure it was just like a split personality trying to commune with the part thats in control. Eivor losing the mark on his neck that loki or basim was looking for was destroyed by the wolf attack when he was a child so the full connection to his past self as odin was damaged an i believe it eivor an odin speaking together was just a partial connection the 2 shared
Well, see it this way: Eivor IS Odin, they aren’t two different beings. But his experiences as a human gave him a personality that is drastically different from that he once had as an Isu. So his previous, and original, personality manifests through his visions of Odin. Even though he is Odin. It’s basically like an amnesiac starting a new life where he becomes a drastically different person from that he was before, and, as soon as his memories return, they do so in the shape of visions of his former self.
Man, getting to this part and having to fight against Basim felt genuinely tragic to me, especially since we'd just witnessed Eivor finally purging himself from Odin's influence and breaking his bond with Viking fundamentalism. Regardless of what may come, my heart went out for Basim here and the pain he experienced in losing his son. I don't think it was a lie that Basim loved Eivor as Hytham states when they return, reason being for a lot of the context around Basim and Eivor's experiences throughout the game. I just think his hatred for Odin blinded him. You have Eivor being revealed as the 'wolf' (aka wolf-kissed) that was prophesized to defeat Odin, while also having Loki's son be represented as a wolf entity in Asgard/Isu civilization. Loki in Asgard also shares the same mark on the right side of his neck that Eivor has from the wolf-bite only its as a faded scar. That scene shared at the campfire also exposes how they both are at opposite ends of mourning, one who grieves the loss of a child, the other the loss of his parents. In gameplay right before finding Fulke's torture chambre for Sigurd, Basim also provides guidance to Eivor and states he does so as a father consoling his child. Eivor also demonstrates some hurt when beginning his fight with Basim, confused as to whether the time they spent fighting at each other's side to rescue Sigurd meant nothing in the end. Is this all a coincidence? Maybe. But I'd like to think that Basim and Eivor were on the brink of developing a relationship akin to father and son, and it isn't until Basim relives Eivor's memories that he realizes Eivor did what Loki never could--defeat Odin, a person who'd hurt and manipulated them both. Which leads to Basim seeing Eivor sitting beside him at the campfire in the modern day, nodding his head in respect to a ghost long past. It's beautiful yet bittersweet. I genuinely think their relationship is one of my favorite parts of the entire game.
Great analysis I enjoyed reading, I think it’s pretty tragic but I feel like Basim seeing Eivor and nodding was totally a sign of forgiveness and respect, I think Basim realizes he was wrong to blame Eivor and now he’ll use her Memories for good to reunite his family

Loki ironically suffers Odin’s fate. In the original myths, Odin hung himself on the roots of Yggdrassil for nine days and nine nights to gain the knowledge of the realms and to potentially avoid his death. Here Basim/Loki is forced into the machine and therefore lives to the present day.
For anyone who is wondering Basim is actually the Isu Loki the results of the experiment that the Isu did to preserve their memories and consciousness in the bodies of human beings allowed him to finally take over Basim. Because Eivor resisted Odin, Loki is now enraged, because he can no longer get revenge on Odin who failed to take over Eivor’s mind. As for Sigurd I’m not sure, as he mentioned Loki was an Oath-breaker, but later states that he cannot remember why Loki’s anger felt so familiar. Sigurd would definitely be Tyr if he were indeed reincarnated. It is possible that Tyr’s memories have faintly transferred over to Sigurd, but not his consciousness. Though I am not sure, it is possible that the side the wolf bit Eivor on actually held some genetic remnants of Odin so when the wolf bit Eivor’s neck that genetic material was largely destroyed or partially removed preventing Odin’s reincarnation.
I think Sigurd’s case was different since Fulke actively influenced Sigurd’s influence and subverted Tyr’s entire consciousness. Basim tried to fight loki and lost. Eivor won against Odin, but it seems that Sigurd and Tyr are now one in the same because of Fulke’s experiments. Both consciousnesses woven together in a fractured, yet strangely whole state

What I like about this is showing the strength of a true assassin, Eivor is clearly out matched hence why the objective is literally to just survive, even at the end Basim more than likely was near finishing Eivor if it hadn't been for Sigurd activating the Isu device, considering he had just gotten in a good hit on Eivor with his hidden blade and we even see how he could barely walk after it.
No basim himself admitted in eivors grave that eivor bested him. You were not paying attention because eivor let that blade in so sigurd could catch basim with the machine. @@kawinbharath3589I'm also after mirage but wtf is going on here?! Is mirage basim reincarnated Valhalla basim? And what he has to do with Loki. My mind's breaking.
@@AK-vb9fv based on the knowledge i get through some of these videos and comments, i m saying this. U could have already noticed how manipulative basim is in mirage, its his quality of loki. It goes like the loki, odin and everyone(high level intelligence beings than humans) placed a part of some memory on humans to get reincarnated, like that. The gin in the mirage, it must be loki and the person who tortured him is the odin. So basically basim is loki and the vallhala happens after twenty years of mirage. Basim goal is to find all his family members, lokis family members to be precise. During the process he founds his father odins reincarnation, the ivor of the valhalla. As u already know how much loki has suffered in the past due to his father odin and odin also killed lokis child, so he plans to kill the odin reincarnation. But basim(loki) got outsmarted by the ivor of vallhala(odin) and got trapped in the machine. Through the machine, he contacted with the modern assassin and got reincarnated after thousands of years. So yeah basim got incarnated after thousands of years as what you can expect from loki (god of mischief). Mirage is about how basim came to that he is loki
So basim is just loki reborn, and evior is simply odin reborn. The pair have their reasons to be angry at each other, but this is basically what went down. Basim wanted revenge on odin/eivor because of two main things. One is that when eivor was odin, they were pretty nasty and hurt basims family, by torturing basim/loki, and his son. So basim tests eivor during the story of valhalla, and drops hints to the pairs previous life disputes and conflicts, but without directly stating that he is loki reborn. Where Sigurd and Basim are brave and face the reality that they are reincarnations of Tyr and Loki, evior avoids this truth and tells lies throughout the game, because if he faced the fact he is odin reborn, he'd have to take responsibility for the evil thins he did when he was odin. (I say he, because I don't play as female eivor, just in case anyone is confused.) So yeah, basim does do wrong to evior in the end of valhalla's story, but it is well founded as Eivor is now repeating his mistakes as odin, in that he is telling lies to save himself, even as it harms Sigurd and basim. So basim has a full on breakdown and attacks, chosing to chase revenge after all, because despite his tests and tricks, eivor essentially failed Basims hopes that he could be better this time around. A lot of people think that eivor is an unknown sage to basim, this isn't true. Basim finds out eivor is "like sigurd" during the saga stone mission. He references this many times afterwards.
Also "DemonisedButcher" is a known stalker and they stalk and tell lies about me and the 3 others who got him reported for racism and sexism a few years ago. Just be aware of who this gaslighting, lying sexist and racist stalker is!
The reason of why basim wanted to see Eivors neck is not what you think. Trust me you will see this game a whole different way if you connect the lines.
If only Basim reincarnation Loki just chill first and listen Eivor explanation, He will never spend a thousand years inside and torture Sigurd. Well, at least the secret ending where Basim and Eivor both smile together with hand greeting is a sign Eivor believe him. I hope to see the next AC soon. This is really great after AC3 for me. Good Job 👍
Just beat AC never played Vahalla. Its sad to see this is what becomes of Basim. Moments before he merged with Nehal he said himself “I dont want retribution I just want peace” and then when he finally became Loki he changed his mind. Roshan was right to try and kill him
Makes no sense. Sigurd was barely functioning with one arm while Eivor was doing all the fighting. At level 300 and above, Eivor makes a ragdoll out of Basim.
Ngl with the context of Mirage, Odín’s memories, & Dawn of Ragnarok; Loki really isn’t the villain. Everything Loki did to Odín was revenge for what Odín to him first (Imprisoning & torturing him and his children) Loki is bitter and vengeful, but Odin is a paranoid control freak. It’s why Eivor rejected him
when Basim tries to see eivors neck it makes me wonder if Odin won would eivors body have changed? would the wolf kiss scar not be there? very interesting!
Lore wise I wonder Why he Did not use Any red smoke bomb in ac Valhalla he seems to favor other tools in Valhalla another indicator that he is a changed man now
Yeah, that's called "experience". This game takes place years after a younger Basim joins the Hidden Ones in Baghdad, so he now has years of experience in Valhalla.
Watching this currently and not knowing what the fuck is going on is an understatement, where this game went is beyond me, everything after Rogue has been shit, and the next game will just be a mirage of the past games we’ve all played.
I tried to learn about Basim character after playing AC Vahalla. A cunning and always blame everyone else. Ubisoft let him lose in AC Vahalla and let him survive to modern times, understandable because Eivor deserved more than him, a peaceful life. But surely Basim will be killed once and for all in the near future. I think the story about Isu is nothing special and maybe is increasingly deviating from the original direction. I will give up buying and playing AC mirage, and reconsider whether AC is still worth buying or not. Especially when AC shadow is so bad.
Play mirage. I just finished it 10 minutes ago. It was very good. Gameplay is very stealth based. Surroundings of Baghdad are awesome. The ending is also satisfying.
Basim in Valhalla and Basim in Mirage is different. Valhalla Basim is possessed by Loki whereas Basim in Mirage is actually his real personality before getting possessed.

He is the reincarnation of Loki, like Bartholomew Roberts was the reincarnation of Aita in Black Flag. Basim wanted to kill Eivor, because she is the reincarnation of Odin, and he wanted to avenge Odin for his son (Fenrir)
I don't know if I missed anything in the story, but I don't understand Basim's motives at all. Why does he blame Eivor for his son's death? Did he turn as mad as I thought Sigurd did while he was held captive by Fulke? o.O
It's explained in the asgard side story where you play as odin. Basically most of the main characters are sage reincarnations of the asgardian Isu. They performed an experiment to reincarnate themselves into human form after the apocalypse. Similiar to the sage storyline in AC black flag and Unity but a stronger sage that had much more isu like abilities and strengths than just their memories Eivor - Odin (the male eivor is just the animus wrongly selecting odins dna) Sigurd - Tyr Basim - Loki Svala - Freya Halfdan - Thor Farovid - Sif The inner isu needs to be awakened in the human form. Basims was awakened when he was young. The mentions of him being chaotic and violent are just times when loki took over. Basim discovers sigurd and realises he is an isu. He travels with Sigurd to find more. Fulke awakens tyr inside Sigurd through torture. But as it wasnt a natural awakening it just leads to Sigurd confused and broken mentally thinking he is a god. Basim (lokis) goal has been to find the reincarnation of Odin and kill him to avenge his son who was killed by Odin. As the game goes on basim realises that eivor is the reincarnation of odin. Loki takes over basim more and more until this final battle where he is basically 100% loki.
i cant understand one thing when Evior and Basim are sitting near fire and talking about home and family when basim tells him he had son but he got killed by his mentor who he loved was it loki talking about fenrir and Odin or it was Basim itself?
For anyone thinking this is betrayal... I wouldnt call it that way. Loki is Mad AT ODIN. NOT EIVOR. Loki and Odin are enemies, Basim and Eivor are friends.

Honestly I think you’d be dead right there, looks like it hit an organ.
I like how fluid Basim fights
Fighting a Master Assassin was so badass and fighting him now feels different cuz we'll be playing as Basim in a few months lol
But it wasn't Basim that we were fighting though it was the Loki part of his personality. My suspicion is that Mirage will tell us how the Loki and Basim personalities merged cuz unlike Odin and Eivor who did not merge personalities it seems that Basim and Loki did
@@nobleskywalker4639 you are correct it happened
fuck i hope we play as basim next game. The entire time i was with him i kept thinking how cool he is. Now he's even cooler.
Basim is dead lol. Its all Loki
I was thinking the same thing
@@kristiyangrigorov5232 no basim and loki are still alive together just like sigurd and tyr are still alive together or how odin and eivor were alive together
@@chingizy2217 Sigurd is still Sigurd because of Eivor being a rock for Sigurd to latch onto. Basim the real one if his story is true lost his family and adopted the Hidden Ones habit of staying isolated. Combine those and its very easy for Loki to completely take over. The man named Basim has been dead for a long time.
I hope Assassins Creed Rift leaks by Jason Schreyer was true.
All he was doing was keeping basim in place. Eivor is much better fighter than basim. That battle was not survival, did you even play this game?
Eivor was a much more skilled fighter than Basim dude.
Personally I think in terms of power level Basim is 340 while Eivor is 400
@@CHESME11 Eivor was badly wounded in the stomach and without the device, Eivor might have lost. He was bested because of her cunningness and not because she is his superior. Basim is a more experienced fighter than her and taught her many skills.
@@CHESME11 Bested as in outsmarted him. Basim literally took no meaningful damage, and any attempt made by Eivor to do so was pretty easily thwarted by Basim. Meanwhile Eivor left the encounter with a stab wound.

Basim literally the same person of isu Loki or asgard Loki, and Eivor and Sigurd didn't realize that they are the reincarnation of Odin and Tyr so that's why Eivor n Sigurd confused when Basim mad over them. And Basim aka Loki quest is to find the descendants of Odin or ISU Odin to find and reunited with his family as the Animus anomalies ending that shown Loki said " I will find you mad one (Odin) at the far side of our doom"
wait so basim is talking about Fenrir?
@@KeiCosplay yes mate, that's why he laughed at Eivor scar. Like it a vengeance from his son to Odin

After i have finished AC Mirage i can understood why he put much of that efforts in killing Eivor dude was in a constant pain and suffering due to being tortured bye Odin, this make me even agrees on him more 😢
Finally someone after ac mirage
Please, tell me

I never thought it was him. Very nice job Ubisoft!
Good Job 👍

Exactly, should’ve known something like this would happen
Just beat AC never played Vahalla. Its sad to see this is what becomes of Basim. Moments before he merged with Nehal he said himself “I dont want retribution I just want peace” and then when he finally became Loki he changed his mind. Roshan was right to try and kill him

Similiar to the sage storyline in AC black flag and Unity but a stronger sage that had much more isu like abilities and strengths than just their memories
Eivor - Odin (the male eivor is just the animus wrongly selecting odins dna)
Sigurd - Tyr
Basim - Loki
Svala - Freya
Halfdan - Thor
Farovid - Sif
The inner isu needs to be awakened in the human form.
He was talking about Odin. Basim is the reincarnation of Loki, who wanted to kill Odin for what he did to Fenrir, his son.
Sooooo it comes to the fact that basim was "boy" all along
yeah boooy
For anyone thinking this is betrayal... I wouldnt call it that way. Loki is Mad AT ODIN. NOT EIVOR. Loki and Odin are enemies, Basim and Eivor are friends.
