Yes I’ve always enjoyed Star Trek games nice to have a modern one. Star Trek Bridge Crew in VR very good as well they really should have added a lot more depth to that game would of been brilliant if they did.
im very pessimistic.....because for me...everything i've heard...i get this picture that this is more interactive movie than game.....and i would LOOOVE to get a proper game in trek universe....where i could explore
@@teemuleppa3347 It's a bit of both. You can explore areas of the ship and do optional things, although not at any time. For example, when you are in the docking bay, you can explore the shuttles and teleporters. You can even do stuff with the engineering tools and parts. You can talk to people, do some quests, play the monitors sometimes. There is gameplay in the game, like phaser sequences or using your tricorder and what not. As Carter, you interact with a lot of engineering things and you do stuff that you see on the episodes. It's not very sophisticated, but you're doing star trek things. You'll probably enjoy it all the same. It would be difficult for a star trek fan of the 90's shows not to enjoy this. I can't imagine it anyway. I would support it because the devs can obviously do more with more money and I think this one is pretty immersive and worth the money as it is. It's not like Discovery and other nutrek is giving a genuine star trek fix - quite the opposite :/
I'm buying this to support the devs in the hope they will one day ad multilayer holodeck matches based in different times of history just like the old pc game elite force.
@@allanallen1835 I never liked the Elite Force games. Too much pew-pew and not enough story. The last Star Trek game I liked as much was "Star Trek - A final Unity" from Spectrum Holobyte. I hope the Star Trek Resurgence devs get enough support so it will be a pilot of many more games like this. IMHO this is the perfect format for telling Star Trek stories, they just need to continue churning out high quality stories in that format regularly and extend the explorable space and develop the existing characters further and introduce new characters. I think this is completely in the spirit of reviving Star Trek TNG, but using the interactive game medium instead of TV.
You said the environments come across simple or could use more love, but exactly that is on purpose I believe, considering the TNG sets were all painted styrofoam and plywood. I really felt like I was timetravelling back to the 90s TNG sets, which is a big part of the charm this game has for me.
If you own a widescreen then this game is a total disappointment!!!! Black bars all around a tiny window as the highest resolution is 1920x1080... Requested a refund after 5 min!

hey just a quick question, can you disable the time limit on the dialogue choices? i get that some things need a fast response, but the whole point of star trek is that whole moral dilemma thing and to be honest i would like to be able to sit and really think about the choices and respective ramifications im making and that time pressure thing just seems counter intuitive to me

It was fun, but the ending sucked and your choices don't alter much. Dark Anthologies does it better, but this is a good start, hopefully next time you will be able to save characters and there will be an option for a good ending... this one just didn't cut it for me, too downbeat for Star Trek. Overall... 6/10 Also.. no music from the series, could they not afford it? Odd, though the soundtrack is reminiscent of Next Gen.
I was really enjoying the game, until I saw that trill hate for their parasite... She was really vocal about it and really, REALLY against it. That was something really out of character.
When I first saw the decision mechanic I as someone who had played Life Is Strange, wonder if this will be L.I.S with a Star Trek look? I can get behind that.
Star Trek Bridge Commander is probably the best example of a Star Trek game to date. It's got some dialogue choices, you get to be the captain and order crew to raise shields and divert power, control the ship combat directly if you want and it's got Picard for a bit. It's really disjointed and some of the gameplay is pretty questionable. I would love a modern take on that game. This looks pretty good too. Picking it up for sure.

Dang. I have been watching Star Trek since it aired, many years ago. I am not quick enough to reliably do QTE's. They ruin games for me with these events. I wish they would stop using the QTE's. I checked your review because I just saw the game was available. I was ready to purchase it but now that I know about the QTE's I am no longer interested. I guess I will watch some playthroughs.
I've played a lot of games with QTE's, I can confidently tell you that these are slower and don't require anywhere near the precision that other games with QTE's require. Not even the Telltale games are this forgiving. You can tell that they wanted the player to be engaged in the story by providing interactive components, but not stressed about how quickly you needed to hit the correct buttons. Even in other elements of the game, such as deciding on dialogue, the game is super generous by essentially pausing the game for you to make a choice if you couldn't decide within the "time" requested. This game truly is just an interactive movie. To me, the more frustrating parts were the shootouts and stealth portions that didn't involve QTE's, as the controls are a little wonky.
I literally only saw this on the XB store last night, never heard this was coming out....i wish this was pushed a little more than all the super hyped crap coming out, starfield, starfield that's all anyone goes on about...or the crappy multiplayer games, it'd be nice to see some well this don;t look like the newer shows so maybe there's hope for a good trek story and maybe some eww it's single player keep yer fingers crossed already this game looks better than fallen order as well or what is it jedi exile?? Yeah, the publisher needed to market this thing more. There was a lot of marketing for it 1 year ago, but people probably forgot about it. For people that hate NuTrek, this will be a welcome change. It's exactly like the 90's shows in the tng/ds9 era. It's really neat walking around the various areas of the ship. Very immersive, even if it's an indie game. The story and characters and decision making are all really good.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I had never heard of this game. I’m a huge Trekkie and have watched all episodes of all the series several times over. But I’ve never had a Star Trek game that were as good as Kotor was for Star Wars. I did enjoy Elite Force and Armada 2 back in the day but most games from the last 20 years have been mediocre at best. As someone who’s biggest dream in life has always been to live in the Star Trek world somehow I’m very interested in this. I just wished we got a really well made large RPG set in the universe and the MMO doesn’t count.

It isn’t perfect as I can’t help wanting it to be a Mass Effect type game but even for the limited interactive TV episode it feels like I’m enjoying it. I just get the feeling that if I replay it I will be disappointed with how little choices actually matter as I’m usually in games such as this. For example when I replayed The Walking Dead I actually liked the game a lot less because it felt like all the choices I had made were just fake and things turned out the same in the end no matter what.
Its a solid franchise thats finally getting some single player love(don't get me started on STO). While i'd like to see a major AAA studio take a crack at building a huge world title in Trek universe, this is a great start. Hopefully this gets the right eyes from Paramount on this license, what i'd give for a SNW TOS/Future Disco-era title.
It is out...... Some companies got early access, some got a few hours, and somehow, with all a lot of games recently, people on my friends list on Xbox are already playing it! F##k knows how, but they are. It is like Warhammer's BoltGun, i have it pre ordered on my Series X, it hasn't gone live yet, but people are playing it already somehow and reviewing it..... Apparently it is hard as nails.
Basically Spock has a glorified cameo. Riker has a cameo. It features a nobody ship. The first officer lady becomes captain. The Hispanic petty officer gets mind wiped. The Asian trill has no real major contribution to the story other than just survive til the end. The main antagonist are the tkon from the star trek TNG episode last outpost. The portal guardian dies sacrificed himself to stop the rogue tkon faction from regaining power
No, it's actually surprisely good. The writing is excellent. The star trek is totally there. It's an indie title - don't expect Mass Effect 2 - but it's got its heart in the right place.
This looks like everything I wanted in a Star Trek game! With the exception of not being able to create your own protagonist 😢
It's damn fine trek. I beat it a couple months back and have been recommending it to anyone that gives me a whiff of being a Trekkie

Season 3 is my favorite, but then again, Seasons 3-6 are all great. Enjoy!!!

There's no INVERT Y AXIS option so if you need this to play - best to skip this game.
