I work for M&S as a customer assistant and I know the feeling. It has happened to me and my colleagues a lot but it's worse when it comes to reductions - usually they'll spot one of my colleagues making more reductions on food and they'll say
"I'm just going to see what else is there". I sometimes do a layaway and serve my customers until they come back. But it does usually pisses us off. Sometimes, I could serve the same person two or three times because they were after reductions.
Imagine her being like “Okay I think I finally got everything” and the cashier says debt or credit and she goes “MY CARD 😳😳😳”

🤣 my fiance and I stopped at a convenience store in NYC . It was me, my fiance, one customer, and the clerk. I realized that the thing I grabbed had an ingredient I was allergic to so I put it back and grabbed another one. The whole store front was the size of like 6 parking spots so it took like 15 seconds and the clerk sighs and goes "really? You couldn't figure out you were allergic til now?" I just threw my $10 bill at him and said "You're miserable. Keep the $6. Buy some snickers." And he just stared like 👁👄👁 as we left. The other lady hadn't even gotten to the register yet so she was just cracking up.
Not just nyc, pretty much northeast in general. Maybe people wont say a thing but you can tell their impatience from their expression and sure as hell nobody well help you find stuff.

When hurricane Katrina hit in Mississippi many years ago. The power was out for like a week where I live and gas and ice was limited only at certain stores with lines longer than you could imagine just to get what was available. Well, I went 1 of the nights to get gas and ice and stayed in line for 2 hours only to get to the front and forgot my wallet at home. That sucked.
The blue eyed cute girl at the end was such a gem. Patient , kind and self less. I wish I could be more like that 🙏🏽❤️

it’s nice to know there are people out there who have infinite patience but it’s actually this forgetful customer who is the rude one. she has a list and is still somehow forgetting things. by refusing to checkout and then going to get what she needs, making everyone wait on her, she shows that she has no respect for anyone else’s time. it’s the same reason why it’s rude to be late to things, same concept. it’s not outrageous that some people would be mad that this total stranger is basically demanding their courtesy time and time again when she can’t reciprocate.

I'm a cashier and honestly, I don't mind at all. We are getting paid hourly to do a job - weather your counting coins, I'm scanning items, or you have to run back for something (we can save your order at my store as to not hold up our lines 😁) I don't mind. The people behind you could offer to pay for your stuff if they're that concerned with how long it takes to count your coins and most have probably been there before! Don't worry about people

As a cashier in a busy grocery, if you forgot an item, you’re checking out twice. If you’re rude enough to to actually abandon your order to hold up others, your partial order is saved and relocated to customer service. No one holds up our lines, better to inconvenience one idiot than to piss off 5 more that have their shit together

I have severe anxiety with driving, exams or tests, and shopping (grocery shopping the worst) I get blurred vision and dizzy and my heart races it’s almost like a high it’s so hard to explain... I’m the worst shopper and when I get to that point I get impulsive and the kindness of these people mostly the last woman that was willing to help the lady shop melted my heart!! ❤️ honestly. I live in a area where my local grocery store delivers and I do that now because it’s so upsetting annoying other shoppers when I’m having a panic attack or a anxiety attack. That woman made me feel okay about how all over the place the actor was!
