I'd look up Mars in the Navamsha to see more on it's long term goals in someone's life. The Drekkana (D3 chart) can also show more on the true strength of Mars, as Mars is the karaka for the 3rd house and the Drekkana is the opening up of that 3rd house. From what i've learned so far, the strength of Mars in the drekkana divisional chart is much more important. In the birth chart of a close friend of mine Mars is conjunct Mercury(in the 6th) in D1, a pretty disturbing conjunction, especially for Mars, as Mercury is an enemy to Mars, while Mars is naturally indifferent towards Mercury(not in a conjunction though😬). But then, in the Drekkana, his Ascendant is Scorpio, with Mars in the 6th, in Aries, the perfect place for a malefic(in the house of conflict), that is also his Ascendant lord, and in it's own warrior sign. So what could that mean? Conflicts come to my dear friend uninvited with that Mars Mercury conjunction in D1. He doesn't even have to say or do anything, most of the times it has nothing to do with him, it is other people's issues, inner conflicts, as well as conflicts in between people. Not only is he a great problem solver, but he can also put people in their place when necessary, strategically, by being logical, clear and concise (using both Mercury and Mars), or by engaging a less diplomatic, but more persuasive way: the warrior approach. He simply sees into people's souls with that Scorpio lenses, he instantly reads all of their secret thoughts, intentions and fears and is therefore able to address them in the exact manner that's needed. Needed to solve the issue(as that is what Mars and Mercury love to do), not necessarily to bring emotional comfort in the situation, like Jupiter or the Moon would. In conclusion...this is not to say that a difficult Mars in the birth chart will not create turmoil, but you might find plenty of blessings related to that same difficult Mars just by looking into the divisional charts.

Another wonderful learning session. Eve, do you pay importance to D-60? Parasara seems to give maximum importance to this in the assessment of Vimsopaka Bala. Most astrologers shy away from this in the pretext that time of birth needs to be highly accurate. However, apart from lagna and moon, the other planetary positions generally do not change much.
I am so happy you brought Eve back. Just when I say I am going to watch less astrology videos you bring back such a great astrologer. Learning from her is well worth the time investment. I loved what she said about Mars in Pushya at around 30:35. I have Mars in Pushya pada 2 (also a mooltrikona Jupiter in the 10th house) in my D-1. If a planet is in good dignity in navamsa in a nativity, then perhaps the person can commit himself to that path and find success.For E.g. someone having a trashed Mars in D1 but dignified in D9 can commit him/herself to some form of martial arts, hatha yoga or some other form of athletic or combat training for years and develop an Integrated personality.
