I was stationed in Okinawa Japan from 1979 to 1980 when i was in the Marine Corp's. I watched this episode of Good Times when I was off duty in our barracks rec room.. I told myself if I ever get married, I want this song "You And I" to be my wedding song and I want it to be sung live at my wedding. I finally married my girlfriend of 10 years in 1991. A musician friend of my brother named Mike Elias sang this song at our wedding. It was Beautiful. In July of 2016, my wife of 25 years, the woman I'd been in love with for 35 years passed away. Still can't believe it, still won't except it. Now the song I listen to is the Stevie Wonder song "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer."😭 You And I Forever Baby. Rest In Love..🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
😢 Oohrah & Semper Fi, Marine. 🙏🏽 To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord. I pray God provides you with the comfort you need until you are reunited with L🤍VE! 🕊️
Congratulations to you both 25 years what a blessing make sure you have a extra box of Kleenex tissue on standby won't be not one dry eye once that song start playing that's one of the best wedding song ever made next to the late Jesse Powell "You" LoL 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🎤🎤🎤
One of the best scenes in GT history. The moment JJ is seen walking Thelma down the aisle, it's a television masterpiece. That moment is beyond words especially with Michael's singing reaching a crescendo. Unbelievably powerful...
This is a really hard song to sing - he does a really strong job. Nobody's Stevie, but for what - a 17year old - imagine him singing this on American Idol among some of that crap. He doesn't hit a bad notes in the whole, even when when he goes up top, he still has good control.
35 years later, I still love this episode and song. I loved ALL Ralph's songs that he performed on the show, but this one just made me cry over and over. He did such a wonderful job.
i met mr. ralph carter(michael evans) yesterday! he was at a banquet in newberry . and it was a honor to meet him. he sang this song their as well. i will never foget that moment!
OMG i love how Wilona and Florida exchange glances.. Michael watched Penny then smiled when he saw JJ and Thelma.. I get so teary-eyed ❤ even Bookman was cheesing. To see siblings that stay at it coming together for a precious precious moment 💖
So much emotion in this scene. If you didn't know better, you would think you were watching a real wedding. You can see a smile on Michael's face that indicates Thelma (his tv sister) is walking down the aisle.
Everytime I see JJ walking Thelma down the aisle I LOSE it. One, it’s sad because james should be there…and Two it’s beautiful to see JJ mature and step up for his little sister ❤
After losing my daughter I can truly say ( I was blessed to experience the love of heaven in my lifetime blessing to all who read this and your loved ones💙
This was television history. I remember feeling so connected to the Evans family. We would live and die with their ups and downs. It's truly amazing how after all these years, I still get that feeling when I see this episode. It was one of the few high moments in the saga of this family. The only event greater than this one was the last one when the left the ghetto...
Ralph Carter (Michael Evans) did a bang up job on this song. I just watched this episode this morning, I could not stop crying. I enjoyed (Florida's Home Coming when Ester Rolle returned after one year absence from Good Times) the episode when Michael ran and kissed his mother over and over again. I was wondering when Florida arrived at the door was that scene rehearsed with Ester Rolle because Ralph Carter reaction was that of a child that had not scene their mother in a year. I cried all day
that part made me cry too...........the kids ran to their mother....Wilona being that......the audience going crazy........i cry everytime i see that part.
Omg this song is so beautiful!!! I have always enjoyed practicing singing this version. It's so powerful and beautiful and I remember watching this with my mom at my grandma's house. I love good times to this day:)
wow i love this song my mom was my age when she saw this episode back n da dey and never saw it again cuz they wasnt heavy on re-runs back den so when she saw it today it touch her and me this song is the perfect wedding song! love u Michael Evans!
I understand exactly what you mean. I'm 20 and I wish I have lived to see shows like Good Times when it first came out and listen to music back then. You dont find things like this nowadays.
oh wow he is amazing i never saw this episode but wow ha i love watching good times i just wish i was born ealer cuz being 14 in the world today you dont see good tv shows like this and the cosby show and you dont hear good music like the jackson 5ive and others so thank you to every one who is putting up these vids thank you
Thanks I was looking for this for the longest!! I just found out yesterday that Gary Coleman was on like two episodes, playing a sassy ass black kid lol
"BOOKMAN" IS 74. WONDERFUL to know he's still alive...LET'S WRITE HIM ! ...AND Michael (RALPH CARTER) here is 50. GOD BLESS HIM ! GREAT SINGER...AND WHAT A FINISH !!! I LOVE THEM ALL. Especially Mama Esther.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL - Michael's version is just as good as Stevie - WOW!!!! (Is that "Lootin Lenny" in the background behind JJ at the end of the video? LOL!)
Ralph started on Broadway at the age of 9. Norman Lear bought out his contract for ‘RAISIN’ so he could appear in good times and gave him special credit on the opening of Good Times episodes.
It's been over 30 years...and I STILL can't find anyone who can explain how Keith could take hits on the football field, yet break his leg tripping over someone as puny as JJ...
As a kid watching this ! I said when I get married. I am going to have this song play. At my wedding. ! I was 7 years old when I saw this episode. And I still remember this and got married in my 30s. I couldn’t remember the name. So all I did was put in TH-cam. Thelma’s wedding song. And it pop up ! And my wife walked down to this song. What a moment this was if you grew up in the 70s

God bless you and the love of your life! You almost made me cry 😢
This episode was the best in the Series Micheal put his heart and Soul in that Classic Love Song !
Ralph Carter sang the hell out of this song at his age...👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎👍🏾
No auto tune no lip singing my man killed this song.
We will using this song to renew our vows...25 years of marriage in August 2024...

Congratulations 🎊
😮😮😮😮
Congratulations ❤❤❤❤❤😇😇😇
Too bad James Evans couldn't be here for this magical beautiful moment
That's the part that brings tears to my eyes every time I watch this episode.
DAMN DAMN DAMN
2024
Its was a good thing for Keith that James wasn't in part 2. James would of broke Keith's other leg for yelling at Thelma and picking on JJ.
Micheal kilt it 🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾
Michael did a marvelous job singing a beautiful song!🎉
Damn that dude can sing.
I no
Absolutely
One of the best scenes in GT history. The moment JJ is seen walking Thelma down the aisle, it's a television masterpiece. That moment is beyond words especially with Michael's singing reaching a crescendo. Unbelievably powerful...
Michael did his thang! His voice reminds me of the lead singer of Dayton, OH formed HEATWAVE ("Always & Forever").
Those tears Florida shed was so genuine to me…😢
Not MANY people can best a Stevie Wonder original, but Michael Evans just did!!!!
And very well, too. I never saw this episode. Thanks for posting.
This episode has been etched in my mind for over 35 years and it makes me cry everytime I hear Ralph sing it.
You’ve fallen and bumped your head 😂 but he did a great job
Someone was hitting the cherry a bit too hard.
4real 4real
What about O'Bryan he did it in 1983! 🎤🎤🎤
This is a really hard song to sing - he does a really strong job. Nobody's Stevie, but for what - a 17year old - imagine him singing this on American Idol among some of that crap. He doesn't hit a bad notes in the whole, even when when he goes up top, he still has good control.
One of my favorite tv weddings. Actually made me cry!
Does Ralph Carter have a voice or what? WHEW! You go, Michael!
35 years later, I still love this episode and song. I loved ALL Ralph's songs that he performed on the show, but this one just made me cry over and over. He did such a wonderful job.
The show ended over 40 years ago.

One of my favorite episodes 😢
I love how JJ walk his baby sister down the aisle. His dad would have been so proud
Until he tripped Keith 😂😂😂😂
@@cyyrious😂 Keith should have been watching where he was going …$million contract on the line
@@athleticchipnyc LMAO. The Evans nor their love interests could catch a break.
I don't understand why it rains everytime I listen to Michael singing this. 😢😢😢
OMG i love how Wilona and Florida exchange glances.. Michael watched Penny then smiled when he saw JJ and Thelma.. I get so teary-eyed ❤ even Bookman was cheesing. To see siblings that stay at it coming together for a precious precious moment 💖
The only scene on this show that ever makes me cry...happy tears...but seeing Florida, you realize that her husband not being there hits a nerve...
So much emotion in this scene. If you didn't know better, you would think you were watching a real wedding. You can see a smile on Michael's face that indicates Thelma (his tv sister) is walking down the aisle.

Amen
I sang this song at my step sister wedding I made her mother cry
I just know Florida thought of James on that day .
This is so beautiful! It feels like a real wedding. On another note both Bookman and Sweet Daddy attended the wedding! LOL.
Sweet Daddy paid for the wedding and Bookman actually thinks he’s family.
@@leslieepps-mclemore23 Bookman is family. Remember he helped Carl out when he learned he had cancer.
This was television history. I remember feeling so connected to the Evans family. We would live and die with their ups and downs. Still remember watching this episode during prime time in the 70s, one of my favorites.

This was one of the most loved episodes of mine...so emotional all that was going on with the Evans....Definition of good TV and black family
Ralph Carter (Michael Evans) did a bang up job on this song. I just watched this episode this morning, I could not stop crying. I always wondered the same thing. Even the her reaction and the crowd cheers was genuine

FYI, Willona, real life daughter was a bridesmaid. Good Times, What's Happening, Love Boat, good childhood memories tv shows!
The greatest show of all time!!!!
Melted at JJ escorting Thelma!!!!
James Evans would've been so proud watching his three children grow up especially at Thelma's wedding
Awesome!
How many child actors are this good now!!! Just born at the wrong time that is all.
I love all the singing ones!
OUTSTANDING ✅️💙🙌🏽👏🏽
Wilona had so much style!!!

I have to say this always makes me cry.
Ralph started on Broadway at the age of 9. Norman Lear bought out his contract for ‘RAISIN’ so he could appear in good times and gave him special credit on the opening of Good Times episodes.
He should have been signed on a record label.

Using this song for my wedding and got a teddy pendergrass song picked out for the honeymoon

It's been over 30 years...and I STILL can't find anyone who can explain how Keith could take hits on the football field, yet break his leg tripping over someone as puny as JJ...
Speechless I am!
Kept thinking James Sr. would bust up in the church: *"NOT WITH MY BABY GIRL YOU WON'T!!"* 🤬
