LT, I'm up here in Tawas from Florida. I saw your truck the other day at the Tawas River. I wanted to hang around and say hello and talk about fishing hot spots but, I was on a mission with the wife. Anyway, I watch your videos while at home. When I was young my parents had a cottage on ausable point. My buddy lives here full-time now. I would like to run into you before I head back. Thanks for the hours of entertainment.
Hey!!!! Shoot I wish I would have run into you while I was there! I always love running into people when I'm fishing. I'm planning on leaving for the UP as soon as I possibly can. Probably monday or Tuesday. I want to shoot s musky video up there. I hope you guys are having a great trip up here!
It's tough this time of year it should be getting better soon with the cooler temps. Not sure where you are on the AuSable but I prefer above the dams this time of year
nice job on the video, that lake sure has changed. my neighbor used to pound the hog perch, gills and crappies on last ice every year back in the 80's and early 90's
Definitely way too many, I feel like the pike population is too far down. I've never seen as many small ones in there as I have this year. Even in the spring. Millions of small ones on beds and that's never a good sign of a healthy population
Same here. I think they took way too many pike out of there and now there isn't enough to keep the population in check. I'm tempted to keep limits of small ones and fry them up just to help that system out
@@lueapeter5900 out in the channel so I'm only in 5-7' of water. Theres too many weeds and logs for me too see them on my graph, mostly use it for depth out there
@@craigwagner327 nope, ducks and geese have a parasite in their poop that causes this issue in our fish. Never anything to worry much about I always look at it as more protien 😂

Fletchers is overpopulated with bluegills anymore the populations are out of whack due too people keeping too many predator fish out of there. I haven't caught big gills in there in years. Still good crappies but gills are stunted
Nope, actually the decline of them is why bluegills got messed up. Mostly started from people killing all the dogfish, between them and pike they keep populations of panfish where they're meant to be. Didn't help that the one tackle shop was telling everyone to kill them....pike fishing hasn't been anything like it used to be. It's a shame. Still great bass in there but they can't keep the bluegills in check. I sure hope it comes back to where it should be
I found out they had it as no minimum size limit on pike for a few years. I wondered why the pike fishing got so slow. Having low pike numbers can really hurt a system like that
I couldn't agree more. I was so shocked we didnt even have a pike bite us off. Used to be so many and so many quality fish. Theres a ridiculous amount of boats out there daily though and most have no sense of conservation
Another great episode, like and watch every video in my household
😊😊👊 thank you so much John!!! That means alot to me

LT, thank you for responding. I'm heading ausable river today. Any recommendations for a good place to fish. So far, not much luck.

Thanks!!! Its really a shame. Too many predators have been taken out of the system. We caught over 200 small fish this day.
Nice running into a fellow Michigander!
Flatchers! Heck yeah

Another BANGER awesome footage great job thanks for sharing respect 🙏🏾 🫡

Never fished that body of water. I sense a road trip in my near future. 😊
Its always worth while! Tons of fish in there and some huge bass
I was on fletchers in July. So many small ones but always fun.

@@LTOutdoors15 I agree I’m worried about the future of the lake.

Absolutely!!! Can't be picky if they average that small lol

What depth? Are you actually seeing marks on your finder?

I have yet to crack the code on big bluegill at fletchers but those gills make great forage for those bass and pike
This is true. There used to be an abundance of large gills. They're definitely getting stunted now from overpopulation.
Have you noticed that the perch in that lake have those tan worms in the meat? I have yet to catch one that hasn't had any
Yeah it's only because it's a muddy lake. All muddy body of waters will have that issue. They come from the waterfowl feces
@@LTOutdoors15 I see. I thought all this time they came from the blue herons

Just my aluminum boat lol
Any tips on where to go for decent size bluegills on fletchers? I have yet to find big ones just small ones

They are stunted for sure. There should never be that many small fish in any system
I found out they had it as no minimum size limit on pike for a few years. I wondered why the pike fishing got so slow. Having low pike numbers can really hurt a system like that
