We're playing this in my orchestra class and I hope we can honor it as much as Ms. Krijgh does... she's an amazing cellist and her emotion really comes out with this piece!
Harriett Krijgh's performance revealed the soul of this piece to me, after struggling with it for quite a while. Thank you 🙏 (And thanks, as well, to the Giedre Slekyte and the Junge Sinfonie)
First Ernest Bloch composition I fell in love with though my name has a Jewish route I'm not Jewish I love this music and would love to find and experience more 🌺
Beautiful crying here ! Let’s not forget what this piece of music one who it was written by and for what reason! Rip to all that suffered at the hands of Hitler and his evil solders ! As we are now in a war against humanity! It’s not easy to think the world we trust the ones in power are not our friends they are our enemy and history is repeating
I grew up only listening to metal, country and pop but I have to say boney james amd septicflesh is why I gotten into classical.this is the second song I heard of this artist,I can't spell the first one I heard but it was about king Solomon I think.it was a very powerful song to me and now I'm obsessed with this!
Bloch never really left the 19th Century. In the meantime, technological Music has taken over, much of which is dry and soulless. I think many younger people will rediscover Bloch, as the World hurtles toward who knows what. The Rubato here is just wonderful.
I have posted on TH-cam, a year or so back, a video of my own performance of this piece. But I must admit that I like the present version better than my own.
How is no one in the audience sobbing?! My gosh what a performance, so deep and powerful. I wouldn’t be able to stop crying.
Beautiful composition played with soulful brilliance.
Beautiful! I pray to you Father, asking for your forgiveness. For me, for my loved ones, for all Humanity 🙏💖
Ich habe mir mehrere Fassungen angehört, niemand spielt dieses Stück so gefühlvoll, einfach wunderbar! Danke!
Finde genauso!
This is the song I want to listen to when I grow older, while sitting in my homemade garden on top of a hill somewhere quiet.
I have played this many many times on bass.
This rendition deserves my highest compliment: this is the way I want to play it.
Wonderful to hear.
I think it sounds better on bass tbh, I just think the bass’s dark tone fits the piece better

The soul of the Jewish Spirit. Beautifully written and beautifully performed. Thank you!

Paolo Sorrentino used this wonderful music for his film “The Hand of God”… pure magic.
I brividi. Ci ho messo una settimana per trovarla..,magia.
Solo io la sto ascoltando in loop ? Che spettacolo.
Ci ho messo una vitaaaaa

So, so beautiful! Thank you.

Outstanding!!! Very moving.
Yes, a beautiful prayer! Played so touching!
What a beauty just divine music.
Ernest Bloch 1980-1959 apparently the man was born after his death - long live his music.
It's a very 😔unfortunate typo. Ernest Bloch was Born in 1880 and Passed away in 1959 at the age of 78. ✌🏻
I like the strong bowing here.
beautiful!
Stunning...
איזה יופי פשוט מוזיקה אלוהית.
3:18 : the voice ascending..
FANTASTIC
Magnifique 🌹
Beautiful
The sole's cry of longing.
After watching the documentary, "Music in Nazi Germany," this piece resonates loudly in my mind than how it sounds.

1980-1959 :)

My man Ernst lived backwards, 1980-1959
LOL
Undoubtedly the best cello player in the world.

lol
There is a mistake in the text in the movie: it is written that Bloch was born in 1980!!
amazing how he was born before he died.
what?
Shalom... YHWH...
Shalom... Adonai...
🤲😔💔
Who is the cellist? I do not see her name anywhere. Thx
Harriet Krijgh. It appears at about 18 seconds into the music. She is excellent. Plays with passion. This piece always chokes me up.
@@Paul49Giloi Thanks Paul... so beautiful
Wow
Non ti disunire Fabio
I am quite convinced that Ennio Morricone took up the notes of this song in "Romanzo" written for the film "Novecento" by Bernardo Bertolucci
Has this been used in documentaries? I am sure that I have heard it before on television?
I've heard it in a Dutch documentary called The Betrayal by Technology, A Portrait of Jacques Ellul, it's up on TH-cam, that's how I found this piece
@@inconceivablebloomer7697 I think that it has become popular through its usage on TV and Film. Plus it is very emotional.
@@monsterjazzlicks Quite possibly
@Slickandie18 Oh really. I saw that a couple of times about ten years ago.
Not sure which actual version was used in the documentary?
I have posted on TH-cam, a year or so back, a video of my own performance of this piece. But I must admit that I like the present version better than my own.
Yeap
I dreamed of Jewish mothers praying for innocent Palestinian children
