@Cchill How exactly can a horse get outclassed by another horse when he hadn't even raced against him? There's no form lines either, evens a piece, my money would be on Frankel with a little confidence.
I get the comparison to the great one, it's understandable. But it's way too soon for comparisons. Aidan has said similar about Auguste Rodin this season. The "lads" are really good self promoters
I think a Guinness mile he could be vulnerable to something with a serious turn of foot especially in slow run race , his a middle distance horse derby horse
it won't be a slow run race, I can see him leading setting his own pace, Frankel was usually happy to take a lead but remember what he did in the Guineas, this horse has already shown he's happy to do it from the front and bearing in mind Aiden has already said he doesn't get tired I think you can totally dismiss the chance of a "slow run race"
ah you disagree with FACTS, with insults. I don't create the facts. He beat nowt , until he showed he was a good horse to beat Nathaniel by a length...just about. The Cirrus race was not measurable as Cirrus was 6 and just got off a plane on Frankels home ground...and he won by...yes ..again....a length.
I’m so into my jump racing that this flat stuff is like some weird alternative universe. I live 12 minutes from Newmarket but it’s just never been of interest to me. How is Aiden O’Brien still bringing so many horses over to Newmarket from his base in Ireland? Why doesn’t he just set up a permanent shop in Newmarket?
The dams full sister won the Epsom Derby. They have very similar names, Together Forever and Forever Together, so it's understandable if he moved the names up. The dam was still a very nice race horse for sure, and has been a very good producer.

Janno you are American right? So English is your first language yes? So why does every comment you put read as though you are sat in a call centre in Pakistan!?! Learn how to string a sentence together please going forward..
There appear to be a lot of superlatives thrown around lately identifying a horse as being that “special one”. Wasn’t Ballydoyle waxing poetic about Auguste Rodin last year only to discover this year that Auguste Rodin only puts in an effort when he wants to put in an effort (but when he does, he is a very good performer)? Even the reserved Ryan Moore appeared to admit that he got carried away when likening City of Troy to Frankel. Don’t get me wrong, City of Troy might prove to be the equal of Frankel, but he has a long way to go.
Nope, It’s only Ryan Moore and Aiden O’Brien that are the superstars, meanwhile the price goes down even further, might be 1/20 soon, seriously though Frankie, what are you on for his horse to run like ass.
I'm not 100% sure he will stay the derby trip his dam only came 7th in the oaks never won over 1mile 4 furlongs. However he has alot of speed maybe they will go to the French Derby.
Possibly but he races like an out and out stayer and ultimately that's what counts. Take Pivotal as an example - a high class 5f sprinter but produced of winners up to 2m plus
Frankel never beat anything, this horse is a genuine. Frankel used to zoom out the stalls and then get caught in half his races. And whem he blitzed poor horses going away he clocked bang average times so dont be fooled by Frankels visual performances, they were good and good only (for a top class horse of its generation) , whereas this horse 'City of Troy' has blitzed good horses going away.
Wow your ignorance of horse racing is hilarious ,frankel was not just a generational talent he was the greatest racehorse there has been and in all probability ever will be ,for you to say he clocked bang average times just shows your ignorance frankel produced Timeform time figure in excess of 140 on 4 separate occasions the only racehorse ever to do that he also has the highest time figure ever surpassing the mighty seabird by 2lbs ,you said he blitzed poor horses ,his last 5 races he beat 15 individual group 1 winners three group 2 winners and 1 group 3 winner,I think what you should have said was that frankel made top class horses look ordinary .city of Troy may be an outstanding racehorse but he ain’t frankel
Timeform is to sell racing we all know that and it's subjective, after public clamour they raised his figure that tells you everything. Doesn't matter if you win Grp 1s it's who you beat. He faced 1 decent horse in Nathaniel and beat him a length getting closed down. He never raced abroad , he beat an ageing Cirrus who'd just got off a plane...by a length....that was his level, good but not GOAT standard, and don't start on his guineas win beating premier loco and bullet train ....Grp 1 horses? Really? In an average time. You'll start saying "sectionals" to me now .... Any horse can run like a tit and clock "sectionals" then get closed down by grp 2 horses in the last furlong.... Frankel for menwas a good 10f horse who had the speed to beat poor Grp 1 milers. To compare him to SeaBird and STS and Mill Reefs achievements shows how clueless you are. The most learned horse journalist in Brough Scott Wil tell you the same if you care to watch his interview. Goodbye.
Maybe a true comparison to the legendary FRANKEL ,,,, NEVER HEARD THE AMAZING TRAINER SAY SO MUCH ABOUT A HORSE !!! TROY HAS TO BE THE REAL DEAL FOR CERTAIN. GX
Why is not entered in the English Derby or Guineas. Only the Irish ones. Surely if was as good as he thinks he is don't go for the substandard Derby where he can put in multiple pace makers
@Smallsmalls I think they changed the Derby entering protocol this year for some reason? I've noticed in the Race Post they only have the Irish classics entrants, I don't think they have the early two year old entries like they used to have.
Yes he looks very good, but Frankel was in a different league. Compare him when he’s won a classic and several other group 1s as a 3 and 4 year old. But given Coolmores record with their best horses, if he does the business next year he won’t race at 4.
It’s easy to say Frankel was in a different league when you have the benefit of hindsight. City of Troy looks as good a 2yr old as I’ve seen & he’s annihilated a group one field today. He’s already done something Frankel didn’t do which is run outside his own backyard. He’ll probably never be as good as Frankel, but give him a chance.
@@WolfeTone66 that was a group 1 race but not a group 1 field. Other than city of Troy none of those runners will ever win a G1, whereas Frankel beat Roderic O’Connor a subsequent dual G1 winner and Dream Ahead who had already bagged two G1 and went onto win several more. Remember also on his debut he comfortably beat Nathaniel also a subsequent G1 winner. Yes, City of Troy was impressive on unsuitably soft ground but against a substandard field.

There’s been a few Horses that have impressed but just not got the ground in recent years such as Pinatubo, Baaeed.. I think we never got to see the best of Coroebus R.I.P also👍🏻
Long ago he would have said this is the best horse i ever trained..May be he will say it Next year..
Justifiably so if he continues to use the sire
Looked fantastic 👌 very precocious hope he trains on 2-3 ? Some improve more than others . He looks exceptional though
City of Troy on ground he hates what will he do on his favoured surface. Hes one hell of a colt. These Justify Galileo mares are proving very gd.

@samllsmalls3889, To much hype about Frankel. Outclassed by Sea the Stars by a long way.

How exactly can a horse get outclassed by another horse when he hadn't even raced against him? There's no form lines either, evens a piece, my money would be on Frankel with a little confidence.

When he’s running to 2 lengths per stride and running sub 12 furlongs … he ain’t short of speed
ah you disagree with FACTS, with insults. I don't create the facts. He beat nowt , until he showed he was a good horse to beat Nathaniel by a length...just about. The Cirrus race was not measurable as Cirrus was 6 and just got off a plane on Frankels home ground...and he won by...yes ..again....a length.
Frankel was half asleep that day and fell out the stalls

Faster time than Frankel so maybe even the new Sea the Stars.

How is Aiden O’Brien still bringing so many horses over to Newmarket from his base in Ireland? Why doesn’t he just set up a permanent shop in Newmarket?
Who in their right mind would leave Ireland for England .
That stride length what a horse run him in the derby they knew today, when do coolmore run a horse unless they know
I do wish a lot of the people commenting on here wouldn't keep calling him "Troy" Troy won the Derby in 1979 ..this horse is "City of Troy"

So if he needed good ground why was he withdrawn because of the ground distributed as good a race won by

A touch of Frankel about him.
It's that long stride of his. What will he be like on good ground next year when he can use his stride to better effect. It's what keeps us all going.

Nope, It’s only Ryan Moore and Aiden O’Brien that are the superstars, meanwhile the price goes down even further, might be 1/20 soon, seriously though Frankie, what are you on for his horse to run like ass.
It's a very good 2yo, nothing more, nothing less. The list is endless of outstanding 2yo's and 3yo's that haven't trained on.. Just hype.
Pyledriver springs to mind
That won't prevent the gambling mugs piling on him.
good horse but nothing outstanding on the clock or form to put him in the superstar class...........the race yesterday was poor apart from him
I'm not 100% sure he will stay the derby trip his dam only came 7th in the oaks never won over 1mile 4 furlongs. However he has alot of speed maybe they will go to the French Derby.
Possibly but he races like an out and out stayer and ultimately that's what counts. Take Pivotal as an example - a high class 5f sprinter but produced of winners up to 2m plus
Bad ground couldn’t stop him, will win the derby
If he doesn't get boxed in round Tattenham Corner from a poor draw
Clueless
He beat Nathaniel sire of Enable
Goodbye.

Why is not entered in the English Derby or Guineas. Only the Irish ones. Surely if was as good as he thinks he is don't go for the substandard Derby where he can put in multiple pace makers
@Smallsmalls
I think they changed the Derby entering protocol this year for some reason? I've noticed in the Race Post they only have the Irish classics entrants, I don't think they have the early two year old entries like they used to have.
He should stay at least 8/10F@!Gr1/2 in 2024

Yes he looks very good, but Frankel was in a different league. Compare him when he’s won a classic and several other group 1s as a 3 and 4 year old. But given Coolmores record with their best horses, if he does the business next year he won’t race at 4.
I would say that City Of Troy is better than Frankel at this stage of their careers. Thats all we can go on so far
