This is what I call a great, splendid baritone voice!
words can not express enough of Herlea's magnificent voice and interpretation. his dark brilliant sound combined with deep lyricism is an amazing and very rare contrast found in one singer's voice . that's why many people comment his interpretations as unique and so convincing.
Magnificent! One of those rare voices that make you fall back in your chair with a big smile on your face....and then your jaw drops because of the depth of emotion that falls over you.

Indeed, and it's not just high notes, this voice is extraordinarily full, rich and commanding in its whole "tessitura", its deep darkness makes it just the perfect baritone voice.
Very few can stand up to this level, maybe Bastianini or Cappuccilli, but I really can't think of anybody else who can reach such a lofty peak of singing prowess...

I was just listening to the great Robert Merrill singing this and I thought I would compare . I only listened to three bars so far I’ll come back
It might be true that Taddei or Weede may have a slightly more nuanced character interpetation performing this same work. However, the power, depth, and lyricism of Herlea's voice makes this an amazing performance in many ways equal if not superior. Certainly one of the great voices and performers of our times.

J'avais un souvenir plus favorable de lui;c'était peut-être une autre prise!Là,c'est souvent faux ,et puis on embellit ses souvenirs de jeunesse.Heureusement,mon idéal a grandi et je retrouve des choses que je ne crédite plus comme avant ,d'où la nécessité de prendre du recul ...auditif ! Celà évite l'idolâtrie et le fanatisme !......... Il y a quand même quelques belles notes là dedans.
