@bowmanpwner as someone who has been in a similar situation than yours a few years back, I can only say you have two options, and preferably have to do both:
1) focus on your mental health. It does lots to your general well being. Find some kind of let out to all that pent up things that make you suffer. (You might have to look for help there). Keeping it all bottled up is a no-no.
2) things might take a long time to heal, but they always can... I've been used, cheated, and most of the cruel things you can imagine... (I also know what being betrayed by someone regarding to personal content feels like, it also happened to me).
All I can really tell you is that you must keep going and try to find both a let out and also something that brings you joy. Someone nice might or might not come your way someday, but as long as you try to become your own source of happiness, everything will be worth it in the end (PS: nowadays I feel great and I met a wonderful girl, kinda the one that is the exception to the general rule, but it all took a long trip inside my own mind to try and fix my own happiness. I know you can do it bro. Godspeed)

And you know what? Happier than ever. Yeah i was that nice guy for my ex-gf who had no problem telling me she preferred the body of her ex bf who apparently was this broad kind of type guy, compared to me who has a more long skinny kind of build.
Now i don't blame her for thinking that, because hey: we all have preferences. There's also women who i find prettier than my ex (even though she was good looking). So, in a way you do CHOOSE how your (side of the) relationship goes by choosing what to focus on. Love is not a feeling you cannot control that gives you butterflies in your stomach - it's a conscious choice!

They were only looking at my body. I did give guys a chance if they approached with friendship. That showed me that they were looking to get to know me before they considered making a move. I turned down a LOT of good looking, built, tall men because of this policy and ended up getting friendzoned by a who I did fall for. (He was in love with someone else. I guess that's a pretty solid deal breaker. lol) It hurt, but I accepted it.
I do wonder if part of the reason my husband and I succeeded was that we both approached courtship and marriage with caution. We were both from broken homes and it was unacceptable to either of us to inflict that trauma on future kids. We both accepted heavy responsibility for our choices and we once we made our choice we were determined to commit and to make it work once we took our vows. We were also young, didn't have a lot of relationship baggage, and weren't so set in our ways. I think it gets MUCH harder to find a mate as we get older.

Whenever a woman seems interested in me, I get this weird mix of feelings that I only just came to terms with - One, there's the attraction to her. Two, there's years of conditioning from TV, songs and the world telling me that I'm supposed to be in a relationship and marriage = happiness, the purpose of life. And then there's the voice that I'm learning to listen to more: I just don't believe she's going to make my life better in any way. She, basically, insinuated that she was seeking therapy for personal issues and it caused her to reflect on her dating history which made her think about me and how nice I was to her. She never once apologized for ghosting me. I had thought that it was something I had either done or not done when the problem was that she wasn't in a a place to handle a good man and it took some experiences with bad ones to show her what she passed up on. Some people have to learn the hard way.
