I take my MCAT in August and I genuinely want to thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos for us. I just finished your first biology video and I understood EVERYTHING because of how you were teaching. You are amazing and I wish you the best on your journey in medicine.
at 58:30 I believe the + charge on Histidine would be on the other Nitrogen (the one that is double bonded). Because that one has a free lone pair to pick up a proton right? Whereas in the first nitrogen you drew, those lone pair electrons are contributing to the resonance within the ring correct? Enjoy watching your videos they've taught me a lot and reinforced a lot!
Hi Yusuf! I’m currently studying for the MCAT and your videos have been so helpful, thank you so so much! Just one thing I noticed was that when you were talking about the basic amino acids you say that Histidine has a indole group, but it is actually an imidazole group and Tryptophan is the aa with the indole group.
I am taking my MCAT this August, although I still have so fucking much to learn and am going insane; you're making this WAY easier than it would've been if you weren't here to teach. I have never taken any type of chem in uni, and even in high school, my grade 11 and 12 chem exams were canceled due to COVID, just by watching you again and again and noticing patterns and redundancy, I am learning so much. May god bless you. I will message you if I happen to get accepted into med school. May Allah bless you a lot of success in your career. I also hope you blow up on youtube and can continue to create these lectures for many more aspiring doctors for many years.
You are my hero. Your lectures have allowed me to efficiently review material while I am busy performing simple but time consuming tasks at work. Thank you!
I found this and never forgot it. Nonpolar: Grandma Always Visits London In May For Winston's Party Polar: Santa's Team Crafts Quilts Yearly Acid/Base: Dragons Eat Knights Riding Horses.
I love it hahaha this is what I use: nonpolar: Mcat Grades Are Like Fights I Will Prove Victorious (MGALFIWPV) polar neutral: Cmon Queen There Is No Stopping you (CQTINSY) polar basic: High Ranking Kings (HRK) polar acidic: Educated Diva (ED) And then I just remember that W,F and Y are aromatic rings

legit this is the best and first actually interesting video on MCAT biochemistry I think I've seen
I could be wrong but i think you left a carbon out of Glutamic and aspartic acid. Thank you btw!
I noticed that too, same for asparagine. he wrote it on the spreadsheet tho
Dude these were awesome! Thank you so much for uploading them!
I found this and never forgot it.

Mine is Granda always visits London In May for womens' Panties!
Are you missing 1 more carbon on the side chains for all Glutamic Acid, Glutamine, Aspartic Acid, and Asparagine? Or am I tripping
Asparagine, Aspartate, Glutamine, and Glutamate have 1 extra carbon in their R groups than he showed
Random question, but does this mean that the basic amino acids act as acids during enzymatic reactions as well?
yes! they do
