- Veles is a city in the central part of Macedonia on the Vardar river. The city of Veles is the seat of Veles Municipality.
Under Turkish rule it became a township (kaza) called Köprülü in the Üsküp sanjak (one of the administrative divisions of the Ottoman Empire). From 1877 to 1912 the sandjak was part of the Kosovo vilayet. It played an important part in Ottoman history, as it was where six Grand Viziers hailed, and is still known as Köprülü in Turkish. In Albanian it is known as Qyprill, for the same reason as the Turkish variant.
From 1929 to 1941, Veles was part of the Vardar Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After World War II, the city was known as Titov Veles after Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito, but the 'Titov' was removed in 1996.[2] Cars registered in Veles were identified by the code TV (Titov Veles), which was changed as late as 2000 to VE.

I Love Veles......I lived here when I was a child in 1972 ....my father was working here a British contract with the lead factory.....I am 57 now and my heart is with Veles.....I was happy there.
Is the city same as you remember or different ??
@@UrbanMakedon I have been back to Veles twice......2013 & 2017.....veles is like a Town that has stood still in time. My old school is still the same.....the block of flats we lived in still looks the same..Maladost Lake the same only the Hotel a bit too comersial.......Veles when I knew it as a 7 year old childs was ......Saying legence to Marshal Tito every morning.....rogella and kifer at school desk.....brilliant times.....there were more donkeys and bicycles on the streets......The only main difference is the Blue Bridge and the WW2 monument on the hill side. My father took us to the Sheepkin factory to have tailor made coats made in 1972.....My father is 86 now and still has his coat..... I found the sheepskin shop and bought slippers and hats for me......BEST items of clothing i have ever bought in my life.....infact I am wearing sheepskin slippers from veles as I type this mesage......I plan to return to Velves when Covis is over.

Možete malku I so komentar, da kažeš barem koja ulica i po neki znamenitosti da objasniš. Inaku jas sum roden vo Veles no ne sum bil tamu poveke od 26 godini. Pozdrav do site velešani a posebno na dvorovi. 👍
