The "authentic" Chinese restaurants can be dodgy as imported chefs don't understand or respect local hygiene standards, so it's safer to eat the Westernised Chinese than the real thing.

Tell me of a TH-camr who had success with their own TV show based on their TH-cam personna. If anything they ruined their careers. An early example, FRED's channel got taken over when he got his (failed) TV show, he was replaced on TH-cam on his own channel and he made a new one. If you're not an OG TH-cam viewer, you won't know him. There are TH-camrs who made it on TV but with a very different format. Like Lily Singh with a talk show, not a sitcom or so.
The first time he popped up on my feed, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m loving this channel as much as channels like Mark Wiens or Food Ranger. Keep up the great work, mate! Love from Canada.

Truth is it's easier to relate to someone like him, who looks like the average Joe, with simplistic video styling. Not a high percentage would relate to someone who might be deemed attractive while reviewing food of the "higher" calibre if you will. So I understand why it's more likened by you.

This is common, most Chinese restaurants that have been around for decades in Western countries adapt their menu to local tastes. The "authentic" Chinese restaurants can be dodgy as imported chefs don't understand or respect local hygiene standards, so it's safer to eat the Westernised Chinese than the real thing.

Tell me of a TH-camr who had success with their own TV show based on their TH-cam personna. If anything they ruined their careers.
An early example, FRED's channel got taken over when he got his (failed) TV show, he was replaced on TH-cam on his own channel and he made a new one. If you're not an OG TH-cam viewer, you won't know him.
There are TH-camrs who made it on TV but with a very different format. Like Lily Singh with a talk show, not a sitcom or so.
