Hey guys, this is the last Anki tutorial for a few weeks. Please let me know what kind of tutorials you’d like to see in the future!

thank you for this video. I was struggling to remember the proofs, even if i understand them. this helps a lot in my exam preparations 😄

I use Anki more as a scheduler. I highlight the information I want to memorize in a page, put a letter on its side, and then put the page and the letter on Anki. Then I go on opening the book in the required places. I find typing anything math related on the PC dreadful. Even though I need to have the book with me everytime, I never used Anki while outside of my house. And its absurd how much better I retain the information doing the active recall in the real book, and not in a digital flashcard, but that's because I feel more patience while looking at a book and am generally more attentive than when I am looking at the computer screen.

One major problem with using flashcards for math is that even if you understand the solution, after you've seen the same problem tons of times, you end up mindlessly memorizing the solution rather than using your own understanding to re-create it (basically, you never actually have to think as long as you can mechanically memorize). I don't think there's any way around it since this is just a flaw that's inherent to flashcards.

it's much easier to understand something if you memorized it

Anki is a great way to remember the building blocks of proofs and those building blocks and ideas often repeat in one way or another

May I ask how much time was approximately needed for making these types of cards and review them (during the semester and during preparation)?. Without attending the lectures / doing exercise sheets...

I have followed a similar approach for a long time, but I have found that the time taken by each card on average is very high (I think it was about ~ 30 seconds). So now I am in the process of atomizing my cards MUCH more into minimal bits of information.
What is your average response time on cards of this style? you can see it in the browser.

I’ve tried both approaches and the shorter cards definitely have advantages. I just really liked the confidence having pretty much the whole proof in my head gave me for exams
