Thank you so much! Very helpful for newbies like me. It helps that you play all the different tones, then demonstrate how the incorrect sound is played too. It's helping my ear training.
Serendipity!!! I've discovered Michael de Miranda and I love the breadth and depth of your knowledge and ability, style and simplicity in communicating it. You have a new friend and fan my friend. Do I get a Heineken with this? DMB
, timbales, todo tan bien explicado!!! Simplemente increible!!! Gracias otra vez, de un argentino que muere por lo ritmos latinos! Gracias michael por todos tus videos. Desde lo mas basico', hasta uno por uno de los distintos ritmos latinos. Y nos solo congas. Bongos'
The "slap" in spanish rithym notation "Quemado" or "Castigado" for me as you said, is the most hard to get. I started in this percussion world since a few weeks and the castigado still douesn't sounds :/ Could you give me some advices?
ConxurOz Well, learning this sound is difficult. A long time ago it took me 2 months to get it and control it. So, I can't give any tip but work hard and keep practicing, keep your fingers loose.
Of course as everything in music... Practice/Time :) Well, you know what? I can do the slap but with some cheat :P I put my left hand over the skin making a kind of little resonance dome with the palm of the hand, then I slap the sking with my right hand open and voilà there is the Castigado :P I know, that is not the real technique but, meanwhile I will do this also practicing the other technique! :) greetings from Colombia Michael :)
Great video. I Just wish you made your video bigger so we could better see what you are doing. perhaps get rid of the framing once you begin explaining. Looking forward to more good videos!
No, the timba technic is more like the djembé technic. A big difference is how to make a slap. On a timba this is always an open slap. And muffles (palm, finger technic on congas) are not played on a timba. Good luck!
Yeah of course, hope that you can give me your email address and I could send you some of our bands mp3 and you can give me some thought to play percussion. Thanks again.
Thank you Michael! I have learned so much from your videos.
Thank you very much, Jim. I hope you will keep enjoying my videos. I wish you good luck!
