Nice to finally come across some videos of real glass work. I’m a service glazier for a big company and It surprises me how rare it is for people to have legitimate knowledge of cutting and fabricating plate, mirror, IG’s, etc. great stuff man!
Sir! You are a life saver. This was my first time cutting glass, and your tips worked like a charm. It made me want to explore stained glass, scribing and breaking artistically.
I really needed this video some months ago. This is MUCH easier than what I ACTUALLY did. Oh well...3rd times a charm. Good thing I'm not superstitious.
Thanks for this video bro !!!! I have the same task at ahead of me only I just have to cut a whole for an outlet on the edge of the mirror , but this video helps a great deal ! Thanks again
Usually any glass shop will have mirror. Unless you’re a big city some shops just specialize on certain kind of glass. Our shop we do pretty much anything to do with glass but we are in a small town so we kinda have to
I have a question. Replacing glass on an excavator with plexiglass polycarbonate, do I need to prime the plastic first before applying the adhesive? I was going to lay the plastic down and then use a router to cut the complicated shape after curing. This was the second door glass I’m replacing somehow a stone got kicked up between the door and frame both times, glass is too delicate and expensive that’s why I’m using plastic this time. Any thoughts or advice?
Would it be ok to use masking tape to mark exactly where my whole is going before I start drilling? Also I’m drilling into a decorative mirror meant to hang directly on the wall, so it has a backing attached to it already (could be wood could be hard plastic). While drilling can I use the diamond drill to continue straight thru the back?
Yes you should be okay. If it’s a one time thing it shouldn’t hurt your drill bit, if u do it to many time it can damage the bit but it should go through plastic fine and if it’s wood as long as it not to thick should also be ok
What are you using for coolant? I've been using a drill press type machine from crl and my backing is chipping off. I go slow and let the weight of the machine do the drilling. Back my bit off and let my mixture fall onto the cutout. Any help would be great.
We use the crl diamond coolant! That’s exactly what we do. When u get close to the other side just let the weight of it do the work. My coworker puts tape on the backside so help with chipping but I just do it without
Hello, I purchased my glass mirror and received an acrylic mirror. I was disappointed at first but impressed with the quality so I'm ok with it. My question is can I drill in the mirror acrylic as I learned from watching you drill thru glass with the same diamond drill bit and lubricant?
Yes you can! And really you don’t need lubricant on acrylic and you can almost use a few different kinds of drill bits on acrylic so u have a few more options
My overall cut out was 2 1/4 by 4 3/4. When you are going to use a mirror outlet cover they are bigger than a regular cover so you usually have a little play room and yes the outlet for dingy and double are pretty standard

Thank you! This is is what I was looking for and I couldn’t find it anywhere!
Do you have a link to the mirror cover you used? I have one but it's not deep enough to nicely sit flush on the glass
This is exactly what I was looking for much appreciated
Awesome glad I can help. If you have any other questions just let me know
@@AlexRubioRQualityGlass We’re do I get a mirror that size ? I need one 70 by 35.

You should be able to just call in the size you need and they can cut it to size for you if you don’t have a glass cutter

What is used for the coolant? I’m building a coffee bar and need to cut hole for pot filler and electrical outlet. Thank you
It’s called diamond coolant, but I have used regular car coolant before

@@AlexRubioRQualityGlass thanks so much, great video by the way.
What is the seal made of? Where can I buy that?
Damn that Glass socket cover looks so sexy on that mirror. Imagine if the actual outlets are also glass shit that’s one sexy set up
How do you treat the freshly cut edges so they are not sharp?
One inch sander or just some sandpaper
Chill music. Who's mix is this? Can't find it (Siri is wrong every time)!
Honestly I’m not sure but it’s from my editing app
@Alex Rubio What brand diamond drill bit do you use?
I bought it from crlaurence

Is it possible to make custom cuts?
I’d like to place a mirror on my door but want to cut the door handle and lock sections.
Yes it’s possible
@@AlexRubioRQualityGlass Ah! Cool thank you!
Is there a way to cut a rectangle instead of the circular shape you made? I have a vent instead of an outlet.
On one of those holes I did 2 circles right next to each other then cut the ends off and then it became more of a rectangle for the outlet hole

What was the size of your cutout and are there single and double size standard outlets sizes. I’m working on a single decora as we speak.

@@AlexRubioRQualityGlass wouldn't the OA cut out size be 2-1/4 x 4-1/2
Trabajo bonito
