The procedure was spot on and well executed. The vase is nice. Artist friendly critique comment: The black was a bit overpowering and might have benefited from a heavier sand back before application of the subsequent colors.
Cool project Mike! Interesting project. Really appreciate the details you provided as you turned the piece. Yours is the first I've watched, now off to watch the other 3. Looking forward to seeing the different takes each of you have on this project.
Amazing just how different the projects “turned” out. All four were done differently with unique final results. And all were very well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Three watched, one to go. You and Richard produced similar vases but with different processes. Sam went in bit different direction. All three are very good. Now I have to move on to see what Tomislav has done. The four way challenge really makes each project very interesting. Each of you always put a little difference and a little interest into your projects. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
A beautiful shape and good advice. I do love to see how the four of you do such different things in different ways. Thanks for another educational and entertaining video!
Thank you Mike watched another guy turn this type of flower vase and it was a lot more involved than the way you did it. I like your way so much better and I want to try one.
I agree i love the problem solving aspect of wood turning. I watch other turners and see if I can do the same project with the tools I have at my disposal. Good job!

I love the red oak Mike, but it can be a little tricky to turn. I picked up a few pieces about 4 years ago here in Oz. Is that the natural colour of the timber
Great project. I'm going to try this and I'm wondering if you could have used just the vacuum chuck; that is, why not clean the outside face for a good seal, then flip back and forth. Were the tenon and chuck needed for centering?

Thanks for the feedk. I think you are right. I am still learning about using dye.
I've watched 3 of the 4 and, so far, like yours best. They're all good.
Turned out great. I always look forward to these 4 way challenges and seeing how each of you handle it. Thank you!
You are so welcome!

Thanks a bunch!

Thanks, Glen. I learn from each one.

Thank you very much! Glad they are both entertanining and educational.
I liked that you were able to capture the grain pattern on your piece. Nice job.
Nice when you have a front and back to choose from, Ken.
I really enjoyed this last project, a really challenging one. I look forward to trying it out. Thanks for the submitted idea to the others.
Awesome, thank you!

Thanks. Go for it!
Thanks Mike for the beautiful work. You say vase, I say vase. In the 4 way challenge, ame but different 😊.
Thank you! Cheers!

Right on
Your the first to watch. I'm interested in this vase, and am thinking about how to mount as I don't have a Vac pump. Thanks Mike.
My problem too. Maybe a jam chuck with soft touch on tailstock?
Turners tape on a profiled friction chuck would work. Or a very short tenon you build into the design.
Amazing how differently each project turned out. I love these 4 way videos 😊
Glad you like them!
Thank you, Mr Mike!
I appreciate your support Jeff!
Very nice and totally different way of reaching the same conclusion.
Thank you!
these are great. ive watched all of them and have been inspired to try my own, taking a little bit of inspiration from each one I think.
Great techniques and vase. I always feel like I'm in a neighbors garage watching your videos.
Love that!
Thanks, Mike!
You're welcome!
Awsome job explaining how to do this and simplefy the process.... Awsome work Mike
Thanks, I appreciate that, Tomi.
Thank you for the information.
You bet!
I watched Richard’s before yours, interesting that both ended up similar shape but I like your tenon process to drill better, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoy these videos to see the different techniques you all use.
I keep wanting to ask “why “ 😊when you say you’re going to do it this way.
I guess I need to explain the Why more often. Appreciate the feedback.
very good job .
Thank you!
Just really nice. Great quality turning, close to a "10", maybe a 9 977734 approx.
Could be.😉
Very nice I love the design. Off to see the other three. On a side note what brand of vacuum pump do you use?
I bought a used Gast on eBay when they were a lot cheaper than they are now. There are cheaper options. Just get one that pulls at least 4CFM.
Nice 18 K Wow
UNfortunately, most were from Google search and did not watch long. I think it was because I used multi axis in the title.

This project was dyed. Oak tends to turn to a dark amber.

Probably. I just felt it would be more secure shaping the bad side that would not hold a seal held with a tenon.
Why the big watch? Sorry, but fed up of watching so called turners flouting all the safety rules?😤
