Mark is right, I always enjoy seeing how other riders live, makes you more relatable as a person. Also gives me ideas on things I can do or make in the garage/shed or backyard on a budget.

@@chroniclesofsolidThe 300 rally has just arrived at our dealership but making that final decision to purchase it is difficult.
I was hoping that it could carry a pillion around 45kgs but that seems to be a tall order.
Is it worth waiting for that elusive 450/500cc rally bike?

I like both formats. Since I also watch mark from biker bits, he does motorcycle rides, motorcycle reviews, camp cooking, his backyard, including his fruit trees I watched him build his motorcycle garage and remodel his house. I like that format, I think you should go for it. You are an interesting fellow. The all-inclusive format helps your viewers to know you. Fun times. Having a family takes most of your time, believe me, I understand.

Buy a compression tester and test comp to spec.
Best $80.00 ever spent and can be used to check when to do top end on a 2T (>15% loss of comp) and tels if a 4T needs new valves and or rings and Piston.
A new Top End can add up to $1000.00

I reckon people like to see stuff like how your garage is coming on. Stuff what every biker can relate to is all good mate. One day I might get to actually meet you down under. I've got family in Perth & I've been promising to visit for at least a decade so it's something I've set myself now.
It's a long way from the UK but they reckon it's home from home. I do know a lot of ex miners went to Perth from N/E England like my own family members. Perths a big city though nowadays ill need at least a month to get to know the place. You never know I might end up trying to stay.

    I have a crf300l and a wr250r.
I prefer the wr250r, but the honda is getitng close. Here is my build list.
    Rally Raid Suspension
Honda Rally Front brake rotor upgrade, Stainless brake lines
    550 performance ECU Stage 1.5
    CBR 300R Cams
    CBR 300R intake boot
    Arrow header, Stock Honda Muffler
These Mods have preserved the Honda Torque down low but added that wr250r top end pull.
my suguestion is to get the gas tank first and then the performance mods. You will love it.

Hi Solid. Format great. Looking forward to seeing how the shed will turn out. Plotting and planning trips in the UK and Europe at the moment. Just waiting for the weather to get a bit better. There will be a CRF 300L joining the GS soon. We have 3 children. One in Melbourne, one in Sweden and one that’s about to go to live in Canada. None of ours like motorcycles! Enjoy them while you can. Regards William.

I wouldn't bother with replacing the exhaust unless it got severely damaged, it isn't a hardcore Enduro bike so it's not in the 300l's style in my opinion. Plus the noise can wear off really quickly.

When Kids come a long . the first thing that tapers off is own time to ride.
I used to ride every weekend then once married and with kids, their activities came ahead of my own Ride Time.
Long story Short - I did not ride as much as I wanted.
Now as I hit 60 and my kids are now in their early 20's The wife got a Vesper and I am looking for a new steed.
I hope for you you get to ride lots , but dont be surprised if she who must be obeyed chews into your riding time.

Off road I stick to around 15psi give or take. On road 30 on the back and between 25-30 in the front depending on how I feel. I’m not too militant about it. Deep sand I’m running 10psi with rim locks 👍

I wish it were easy to refit our stock exhaust shield over an aftermarket pipe, so that it won’t burn our bags! I don’t like those little metal band solutions that they offer instead of the stock shield... But anyway, NRD did a pipe comparison with the Arrow and black widow pipe which accepts a second baffle, and the black widow is definitely one of the most tolerable aftermarket pipes that I have heard when it comes to noise levels... I really don’t want to give up my stealth mode on my Rally either! Your video format is great.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks mate, yes I forgot to mention that a big factor is the stock exhaust shield. If I do take the leap and get one it needs to work with the stock shield.

Idk how it goes on the CRF300, but the Yoshi on my VStrom never gets more than warm, no need for a separate heat shield. It's also not too obnoxious, but then the Strom is a lower revving bike, might be different on the CRF. I agree though, no way do I want any more noise out of the CRF.
On the format: mate, you've always got something interesting to say, so I'm not too worried what order you say it in. If I had to choose though, I do like it when you smash through a bunch of Q&A's in one hit, and then do the news, reviews, and background stuff in a separate sesh.

They put such deep ruts in the trails that you cannot just cruise through, you end up fighting and cursing your way on trails that had been just a fun ride.
