  • Best overall sounding exhaust for the E9X M3 imo! Skip to 5:34 to hear the external exhaust sound.

    Agree, best video demonstrating this exhaust. I've currently got the oem mod which is louder, but louder isn't always best. I love how the MPE has a unique character and tone to it which just makes it sound special and I eventually will be making the switch.

    Nice video! This is my favorite exhaust for the e9x gen, it sounds even better with test pipes.

    I came here because I'm considering the performance exhaust and was hoping for a audio comparison with stock exhaust. I currently have done the OEM mod to the stock exhaust and to be honest I think it's becoming obnoxious. Specially on the highway where there is this constant drone. So, even though I'm not convinced about the sound I think it will be better in the long run. Also, the exhaust tip do look better :) Great video nevertheless. I'm glad this car still has a fanbase and a community producing content. Keep it up!

      i'm in the exact same position. i have the medium mod as well and it sounds great but i have to say there are more situations where i am too loud then too quite. i really dont know if i should go legal with a little loss of noise. also i love the performance tips.

    I bought an e92 a few months ago and was lucky that it came with an M performance exhaust. Like you, I love the tone of this exhaust, but I’m finding that more often than not, I want more volume. Is there a particular x pipe I should get? I want to stay catted. Or maybe not if it’s not too hard to switch back for smog (I’m in Cali)

      I agree. Many people seem to like the challenge xpipe to go along with this exhaust. I haven’t installed one because I’m not sure it’ll pass the sound limit at Laguna Seca.

    11:10 metal clinging sound and a couple of these sounds can be heard along the clip.. i tested one a day ago and is similar.. is tad normal?

    Hey Will, thank you. I have a 2011 Comp E92, with the M sportt exhaust, but would like more sound. I think I want an aftermarket X pipe probably with Cats to keep from having to use an aftermarket code change. Which X pipe product with cats do you think is the best value? Thank you.

      Check out challenge x-pipe. I heard it pairs very well with the m performance exhaust. The only reason I haven’t tried this is because It probably wouldn’t pass sound at Laguna Seca.

    The MPE should’ve include it in the competition pkg from the get-go! Tho I feel ass raped when I first bought it but that supposedly added 5-10 more HP and enhanced performance sound is just too intoxicating especially at 84000 rpm. Yours looks like the improved version 2 where they improved on the metal material so it won’t easily crack. Mine is starting to show mild separation based on the fumes formed along the crevasse. Now do a DIY for battery change as I’m still on my original since 2013 😆

    • @WillsGarageOfficial
      @WillsGarageOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have the v2 and agree that the price was a hard pill to swallow. It just sounds so good though! Hopefully you can get yours rewelded. I also have the original battery from 2013 but have kept it alive. I’ll probably talk about in a future video.

      It’s easy enough to put in a new battery but the car does require some programming, to adjust the charging system to the new battery. There are plenty of stories of batteries dying prematurely if that step isn’t performed. Mine lasted 5 years before I got the message.

      84000 rpm, that's where it's really at! jk

    The trick is not to get the exhaust sound in the cabin with windows up but still get that great S65 sound outside. I still have standard exhaust as I just can’t make up my mind which exhaust I want. Aka would be my 1st choice but it’s soo expensive I can get full tune, test pipes and another exhaust for less than the Akc cost. I would like the MPE with test pipes and tune but I have heard it then sounds too raspy. Anyone experiencing that ?.

    • @jamesseaton7033

      Had 2 e92 M3s with various exhausts, M Performance exhaust, OEM modded, Akra, & then standard OEM.
      I.d probably rate them in that order, MPE wins even with money no object, the Akra a bit too tinny and raspy hollow sounding to my ear. Unless you want titanium for weight saving or really like the Akrapovic brand, I’d recommend the MPE as the ideal balance , or OEM modded if like it loud , and spend the savings over an Akra on a Karbonius intake.

    will a louder exhaust accentuate the intake noise more? or even by just removing the primary cats alone?
    my stock e90 m3 is barely noticeable, but i can hear yours more clearly.

    • @WillsGarageOfficial
      @WillsGarageOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Louder exhaust won't affect the intake noise. In fact, it might over take your intake sound if it's really loud. Removing cats will make it louder.

    • @lolynnnn
      @lolynnnn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WillsGarageOfficial will cold start be louder with just pre cat delete and stock exhaust?
      I may have it coded out if that's the case.
