The first half of my video on pip is pretty important context, since it details my issues with pip as a character which kind of embody the issues with the entire episode. (like when I mention how pip is being called names and getting beaten up, I’m referencing the section where I discussed how pip’s entire character is literally only a punching bag with essentially zero character development). My main point is that the story is boring, which is pretty hard to explain through specific criticisms. I tried my best, by pointing out the long stretches where nothing happens, as well as pointing out that the humor fell flat. I specifically mentioned that the first half is an accurate retelling of a book that is notoriously boring with essentially the only moments of humor being swearing. I also pointed out the 3-4 jokes I thought were actually clever. I also made it clear that as soon as it stopped strictly following the plot of this very boring book and it began to get interesting, they immediately switch to another 2 minutes of exposition with literally zero attempts at jokes the entire time. So to say I was just “saying it’s not good just because” is pretty misleading when I have many reasons for why it wasn’t good. Sure my main point was that it’s boring, but I did my best to give several reasons as to why it’s boring. I could apply what you said about me to your justifications of why you like the episode. Ex.) you say that you like the episode because it mixes source material with absurdity and foul humor that only Matt and Trey could come up with. I say I don’t like the episode because it takes the source material(which is already boring) and tells pretty much the same story with most of the humor coming from making the characters swear through heavy exposition dumps. These are both justifications for our opinions, but for some reason you imply that I have no reason and am just “saying it’s not good just because” If you disagree that’s totally fine, I actually enjoyed this video a lot as I watched it despite the fact that I disagree with pretty much everything. It just irked me that it felt kind of condescending for no reason, like saying it’s “just some kid saying things aren’t funny with no explanation as to why” when I am in fact a 22 year old man who did explain why they didn’t find it funny. I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way, I just like to see creators uplift each other, especially since it’s a pretty small community that makes these style of South Park videos. But no hard feelings regardless, I think you make good videos and wish you the best.

I genuinely think he's just wholesome, which definitely stands out in a show like South Park. I can understand why he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think most people that like him just don't find him annoying
I honestly don’t understand how people can consider “Pip” to be the worst episode when “Eat, Pray, queef” exists (nothing against the message of the episode, just not a fan of fart jokes or queef jokes and that’s just about all the jokes in the episode)
I hate how people act like some how Pip as a character is the issue when it’s really just Matt and Trey not having a clue what to do with him outside of the one thing they always do. Its definitely their fault for not trying to do something else with the character.
Pip episode Is still my favourite South park episode, I never understood why this episode was so hated, just because it was a Pip episode? Or other? I'm from Italy and at the time I was marathoning episodes in streaming... at a certain point I realized that Pip was missing from the episodes and I was wondering if I had missed something... and I discovered that there were two episodes that were never released in Italy and one of these Pip died ... I remember feeling really bad about it, I was very sorry, Pip didn't deserve this end- Sometimes I wonder that if the episode hadn't had all those hate... maybe Pip wouldn't have been removed yet, they can't do that at the end of the episode they say "I hope that after this story you appreciate Pip more" and then they do him disappear for years and then have him come back just to kill him, that was a bad thing for me- :( I'm only consoled by the fact that he died as a hero who tried to stop Barbara Straisend... and that maybe he was reunited with his parents ❤
My thoughts exactly. Except the consolation at the end really isn't enough. He deserved a better ending than what he got. He should have been able to go out as a Hero who actually saved the day in the end. Not as one who tried and failed while the main characters who bullied him always end up succeeding. Aside from him and Butters, I hate the characters of South Park for how they treated him and him getting a send off like THAT really hurt my heart and messed with my head.
First time watching pip episode: Nice humor, great characters desings, good writing. When you see people criticized this episode for being bad: You go with the flow.
it was kind of the opposite for me haha During the early phase of my South Park binge I got super attached to the main 4 boys and any story that didn't focus on them was really jarring to me. Pip was no exception to this rule, that and I also found it... boring and somewhat unfunny. However, after going online and hearing some people defend it (among heaps of comments validating my opinion on the episode at the time), I gave it another chance and found it surprisingly compelling? By that time South Park has already altered my sense of humor enough for me to get a chuckle out of this episode. And since I was much more open to enjoying stories that don't involve the main 4 at all, I found the two one-offs (Pocket and Estella) very charming
I think the hate on Pip is just yet another case of "early discourse about the character was that he sucked and it stuck so if you don't hate him you are seen as a poser"
I did the episode was so annoying and it was filled with very ugly looking characters and the robo-monkey part was getting interesting until it was a dream and Pip died in episode 201 for a random reason But I enjoyed his death you could even tell he was hated by the creator cuz they killed him by him getting squashed by a robot dinosaur and also since he was brought back but quickly deleting in South Park: The Fractured Buttwhole as his skull would be usable as a power up instead was deleted which I'm proud of.
I was told that this episode sucked and to never watch it, I did, in fact, watch it, and this is my favorite episode. Pocket is my favorite one-time character, and I just thought that him trying and failing to stop the heartbroken boys from crying was very silly.
Pip was a background character. Most of the boys' classmates didn't even have names. Pip and Wendy were the only classmates named for the first 2 seasons.
In all honesty Pip is better than any Terrence and Phillip episode, this is my opinion. If Pip could have gained the same depth as Butters he would have been in a much better place but he couldn't escape being the main punching bag until Butters took that from him. Pip's downfall likely was kicked off after season 3 episode 8 (where the Pairing of Dougie and Butters started). While Butters would grow as a character Pip more or less would be the same for the rest of his time in South Park as the nice kid who everyone loved to hate.
@@Oskir_Schlickarsson Yeah, he's not a deep character, can see why they killed him off, he would have gotten very stale but he was still funny AF for a while
I knew the jakovasaurus was the worst episode when i realized it was the only episode i genuinely couldn’t remember. I’d randomly see clips of it on TH-cam and be confused thinking I missed an episode when i binged the entire show. It was only after rewatching the episode that I realized all the clips I saw conveniently left out the jakovasaur. The episode was so boring I’d forgotten everything about it, even the parts that weren’t related to the jakovasaur.
As a fellow Pip-Pilled individual, it's nice to see a video explaining why it's a good episode for once. Especially its quick pace. Honestly it feels like more happens in this episode than the average South Park episode, even if what happens is more on the mundane side (minus the climax).
The great expectations episode is actually good considering the whole point is that the book plot wise makes no sense it’s just a bunch of dumb coincidences (and I can admit that even though it’s one of my favorite books). I think people just didn’t actually read the book and vaguely remember it from highschool
Pip is actually one of my favorite characters because I find the jokes with his character in a lot of the first 4 seasons really funny! I also just find his character really a good contrast to the rest of the characters in the show. He feels the most like a real kid (similarly to Butters) and also is just really wholesome. Also yeah I agree Jakovosaurus is probably the episode I skip the most on rewatches.
I never had an issue with the episode, though I never thought it was anything special either. As for Pip, I think the character wasn't that far off from being salvaged with just a bit more work. Maybe pair him up with Butters a few more times.
“God bless us, every one!” From another work of Charles Dickens is one of Matt & Trey’s oldest running jokes, they’ve done it in southpark a few times & a few more times in their short films before the show came out. Also, Pip’s episode has always been one of my favorite

I enjoyed Great expectations parody as I really enjoyed the book. I thought it was funny take and really wish there were more parodies of classic literature
I've always honestly loved him as a character and as a person, because just like all the blond boys in Stan Marsh's class, he is kind, sweet, genuine, honest, and generally good-natured. I honestly feel like all the blond boys in Stan's class are so nice and so amiable and so friendly and they just get the worst lives. They're bullied, harassed, made fun of, mocked -- tell me if I'm being redundant -- insulted, looked down upon, put down -- you already get the picture. I've honestly always felt that ALL the blond boys in Stan Marsh's homeroom deserved better -- MUCH BETTER in fact!! Tweek's personality is honestly a little hard to read because of his constant anxiety, though, but I guess that's what you can call his personality: anxious. He's always anxious. And Kenny and Butters are obviously the sweetest and most empathetic two of all the four blond boys. They're the most optimistic and most positive -- again, am I being redundant? Anyway, like SO many kid characters in South Park: the four blond boys DESERVE BETTER!! (And Pip -- or should I say Philip? -- deserved better when he was alive😘😍❤😉).
I am a pip TRUTHER. I have not read the novel at all but from what I’ve seen in the show I enjoy how further on it was portrayed that he attempted to be nice to both try and power through and because he didn’t want to hurt anyone. Not to mention him listening to mr lackeys bad advice about not fighting back makes sense because he never really had proper adult figures or friends so he takes any advice given. The way he was raised in poor circumstances though he kept his head high and was sweet to every other kid is cute. I think his reasoning behind being nice is rare for South Park and is actually very refreshing between the cast, he’s so unique that it’s shocking when he is rude or even cusses. He is just a sweet character who I’m pretty sure never even did any rude thing ever in the show. It’s hard for me to dislike him.
I would never get tired seeing pip gets bullied by every south park character😂 and estela insults of pip are trully iconic Also, i think its time to bring him back since butters is kinda stop being the perfect punching bag of the show. There are too many times butters broke the naive kind nature of his character and actually stood up for himself or even acted very shitty. So i think we need the ultimate punching bag back
My love of this episode is partly informed by being forced to read Great Expectations in high school and knowing the story, but genuinely loathing Dickens’ boring writing style. I hated that book SO much, this episode was cathartic.
I think the real reason people don't like this episode is that the core four aren't in it, plus punching-bag characters are generally boring. It's like how the best Family Guy moments involving Meg are usually when she stands up for herself, because when she's nothing but a butt monkey, she's boring.
i agree, this episode was not as bad as people say it was.. it's always been unpopular and that's fine, but i feel like the hatred is just a trend started by Blooms (which was already an inside joke in response to people loving the episode and defending it after his episode ranking video)
Okay bro Jesus Christ. I will admit that Pip isn’t the worst episode in the show, but damn why throw Tegridy Farms under the bus? Those episodes in season 23 are some of my favorite episodes of the whole show.
Nah bro tegridy farms is when they jumped the shark. Randy was funny after the losing edge but the most immature slobby 40 year olds I know are the only people I know who LOVE tegridy farms
Thank you for this video. It might be because I'm English but I've always found this episode to be hilarious and never understood the hate it gets. People love to jump on the hate train though
Like in school, the bully's jokes are mildly funny, until you become the target of them. Then you see it for what it really is, ag gre ssive de ni gra ting vi ol en ce hidden behind comedy. When I realized this, I stopped watching South Park.
I respect their ability to tell the story in the way that they did. But the mere fact that it's based on Great Expectations is going to lose a lot of people. It is boring. Pocket and the blacksmith are great, but that's about it
Why I hate the Pip episode: 1.) It is cosmically funny if the pip episode is bad, as everybody hates him, thus it is humorous for his dedicated episode to also be hated. 2.) There is no 2, I just didn't want the list to look like it only had one thing on it. 3.)
For anyone who's seen Billions there is actually a good comparison for the main characters Bobby Axelrod=Stan Wags=Kyle Wendy=Wendy Testaburger Dollarbill=Cartman Ben Kim=Butters Sypros=Pip
I believe I first saw the jakovasaurus in the stick of truth loading screens. I had thought it was just an upside head wearing a hat, the upper bill was a brim and the lower bill the top of the hat. Now I still can't unsee it. Still haven't watched that episode so don't know if that's a joke that gets made or not.
As a British person , pip feels like a flat circle , everyone else is round and polished when pip is just flat I feel like he would bring nothing to sp
Wait, fans HATE this episode??? I thought it was okay but not a waste of time and effort. It was also kind of a tribute and swan song to Pip no longer being the punching bag for the boys.
You would have had to read great expectations in high school literature & hated it & already thought that that pip was lame & gay, to understand why this episode is genius. Honestly this is probably my favorite episode of South Park.
Honestly I thought it was a mid episode since I've seen it. Not the best, not the worst. I loved Tegridy Farms though but I was smoking some mean chronic at the time.
I watched this episode and I thought that I have to hate this episode but I didn't. It's not as bad as I thought and by far better than the worst episodes of this show.
We all just hate the book. The book is absolutely shit and every literary snob on the planet loves to pretend they enjoy it in order to seem they get something everyone else doesn’t. However they did try and do this but unfortunately just like jakofasaurs it’s hard to parody something so terrible already
Great expectations sucks so hard, it’s the worst novel ever written. I love that southpark includes pip as a character precisely because I hate pip & he sucks 😂

I would never get tired seeing pip gets bullied by every south park character😂 and estela insults of pip are trully iconic
Also, i think its time to bring him back since butters is kinda stop being the perfect punching bag of the show. There are too many times butters broke the naive kind nature of his character and actually stood up for himself or even acted very shitty. So i think we need the ultimate punching bag back
You are my new favorite South Park channel
Bro I've always liked pip and this episode. Sure he could use some work in development but he's so cool I think
In comparison to Ginger cow, I can’t bring myself to hate this episode *that* much.
My love of this episode is partly informed by being forced to read Great Expectations in high school and knowing the story, but genuinely loathing Dickens’ boring writing style. I hated that book SO much, this episode was cathartic.
I loved this episode, and your defense of it is perfect 👍
Burnt jamb in background I love your new videos on South Park but was watching when you made Weezer vids
I think the real reason people don't like this episode is that the core four aren't in it, plus punching-bag characters are generally boring. It's like how the best Family Guy moments involving Meg are usually when she stands up for herself, because when she's nothing but a butt monkey, she's boring.
I think the worst episode was the one where Chef was killed off
I thought it was a million little fibers
This whole video feels like a Bloomser call out😂😂
#justice4pip2025
i love the pip episode. it's better than like half of the episodes from season 18 onward.
i agree, this episode was not as bad as people say it was.. it's always been unpopular and that's fine, but i feel like the hatred is just a trend started by Blooms (which was already an inside joke in response to people loving the episode and defending it after his episode ranking video)
Honestly this was the episode that made me fall in love with pip I love pip is honestly love to see him make a small comeback in a future episode
He was my favourite😭
used to love this one as a kid
Okay bro Jesus Christ. I will admit that Pip isn’t the worst episode in the show, but damn why throw Tegridy Farms under the bus? Those episodes in season 23 are some of my favorite episodes of the whole show.
Nah bro tegridy farms is when they jumped the shark. Randy was funny after the losing edge but the most immature slobby 40 year olds I know are the only people I know who LOVE tegridy farms
It's funny cuz pip was my fav as a kid n then he was gone forever 😭 I do hate that one episode tho
Thank you for this video. It might be because I'm English but I've always found this episode to be hilarious and never understood the hate it gets. People love to jump on the hate train though
Pip doesn't deserve all this hate 😿
He's a very sweet British boy who just wanted to say hi.

I’m sorry
Like in school, the bully's jokes are mildly funny, until you become the target of them.
Then you see it for what it really is, ag gre ssive de ni gra ting vi ol en ce hidden behind comedy.
When I realized this, I stopped watching South Park.
I don't h8t3 Pip
I do h8t3 Blooms tho
I don't hate Pip, not a huge fan, but he was just "there"
Edit - his interaction with the escaped convict was pretty wholesome
i really liked this episode because its was required reading in high school.
I respect their ability to tell the story in the way that they did. But the mere fact that it's based on Great Expectations is going to lose a lot of people. It is boring. Pocket and the blacksmith are great, but that's about it
It's because most South Park viewers are not readers. They don't have a reference point
I completely agree with you
Also I told blooms t about how unreasonable his opinion was.
Why I hate the Pip episode:
1.) It is cosmically funny if the pip episode is bad, as everybody hates him, thus it is humorous for his dedicated episode to also be hated.
2.) There is no 2, I just didn't want the list to look like it only had one thing on it.
3.)
For anyone who's seen Billions there is actually a good comparison for the main characters
Bobby Axelrod=Stan
Wags=Kyle
Wendy=Wendy Testaburger
Dollarbill=Cartman
Ben Kim=Butters
Sypros=Pip
Blooms definitely slammed Pip but Lydia Loves Timelines and Kittymonk were much kinder
tbf I didn't like Great Expectations (the novel) long before I didn't like Great Expectations (the South Park episode)
I appreciate this video.
As someone who played South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play, I appreciate your defending Pip.
defending british "people" isn't really good, stop the cap. this is the worst episode of south park just simply because its british
Good background music ain't heard Gorillaz in a min
As a British person , pip feels like a flat circle , everyone else is round and polished when pip is just flat I feel like he would bring nothing to sp
Massive respect just for using a Gorillaz song in the background.
Wait, fans HATE this episode??? I thought it was okay but not a waste of time and effort. It was also kind of a tribute and swan song to Pip no longer being the punching bag for the boys.
The character never fit with the show and less so as it went on. The episode is awful and not funny.
You would have had to read great expectations in high school literature & hated it & already thought that that pip was lame & gay, to understand why this episode is genius. Honestly this is probably my favorite episode of South Park.
Validly calls out blooms I’ll always like it
I'd watch Pip over Season 20 and Season 21. I surprisingly enjoyed Pip's episode while those 2 seasons I mentioned angered me.
I TOOK THE PIP PILL ‼️‼️
REAL 🗣 ‼️‼️
I bet Pip is gonna get revenge on everyone lol! #PipVillainArc
he died
i mean.. hellpark exists >:3
do people still say first?
Naah a million little fibers and the jakovasaurus episode are worse.
Honestly I thought it was a mid episode since I've seen it. Not the best, not the worst. I loved Tegridy Farms though but I was smoking some mean chronic at the time.
It's a top 10 episode, if we only count seasons 1-4
Man I WISH this was South Park's worst episode, it'd be great to live in that world.
For real the entirety of season 20 is hot garbage compared to this
Nice vid
My respect for this guy;📈📈📈
I watched this episode and I thought that I have to hate this episode but I didn't. It's not as bad as I thought and by far better than the worst episodes of this show.
We all just hate the book. The book is absolutely shit and every literary snob on the planet loves to pretend they enjoy it in order to seem they get something everyone else doesn’t. However they did try and do this but unfortunately just like jakofasaurs it’s hard to parody something so terrible already
i’ve always found this episode so funny, but that’s probably because i like monty python
Great expectations sucks so hard, it’s the worst novel ever written. I love that southpark includes pip as a character precisely because I hate pip & he sucks 😂
