Next year is the 50th anniversary of dark side of the moon , now we need an mega release for this uhqr or one step45 rpm . Can't wait to see what happens . Keep up the good work .
Hi Tony, I've got a feeling we will get an all analogue UHQR, or possible One Step. I'm not sure about 45 - some will say it breaks up the sides. It seems more likely Chad will have a stab at it as a UHQR. Very exciting indeed. How many versions of DSOTM do you already have? Several I bet!
The mono really does sound great. On this one though the stereo is really interesting and I wouldn't want to be without a great stereo copy. Nice to have a choice! Which stereo are you listening too - the more recent reissue or an older copy?
@@makimakipapura7543 a mono cartridge doesn't make bad sounding mono mixes and pressings into good ones. It takes good ones and can make them slightly better
@@makimakipapura7543 No, I do not. Just run the stereo cartridge through the mono switch. I think this is fine for a modern reissue of a mono record and the results are very good. If I collected many true mono original pressings, I'd consider a mono cartridge, but it's just not practical or easy to switch cartridges. My setup has no provision for a second tonearm, so I don't have much desire or need for a mono cartridge.
@@markh.9822 Exactly. Honestly mono makes up a tiny fraction of my collection. It's just not worth having to change cartridges or swap tomearms to play a modern mono record. The switch works very well.
I really don’t think this one is essential Scott. Part of the charm for me is the psychedelic recording, which is lost in mono in my opinion. Nice to have and compare for sure but I reach for the stereo every time 👍
You're right. By this kind of music is the stereo version my favourite too. But one thing: The Mono version has a bit more punch. With a special mono cartridge it sounds dynamite.

@@ThePressingMatters mofi cd and vinyl, 3 other versions and I like all of them but this needs a uhqr and it will blow my editions away 😁
@@tonynewman1694 I have a MOFI, a second Japan press, the 30th Anniversary and the 2016 editions.
@@ThePressingMatters I have tha 100 years of EMI , 30th anniversary and a normal copy , not got the Bernie cut .
Great review Scott thank you
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We definitely agree on this release.
I've got a stereo from the 70s/80s and only one speaker works, sometimes 2, it's VERY tempermental, so mono works great
The mono sounds great. But I like the stereo better

Where did you find a green copy!?
You mean the green tint on the jacket. I don't recall where but its a UK pressing, maybe 2nd?
@@ThePressingMatters thats my bad i meant to respond to a reel, that had a green colored vinyl
Do you have a separate mono audio system, or do you play mono records on a stereo setup?
No, a mono switch on my preamp
@@ThePressingMatters Ok, but do you have a mono cartridge?
