Our base 10 numbering system with zero as a place holder was a profound contribution from India. With Roman numerals it took a very learned man to do a simple calculation like 374*276.
In the past Neil would give all credit to the Arabs. Later he back pedaled to the false claim that Neil invented the numbering system but did little with it. To this day he still gives most the credit to Arabs for developing this numbering system.
He also wants to give Arabs credit for inventing algebra. Brahmagupta deserves some credit.

Dear Neil, a humble submission to correct your previously documented erroneous statements on the history of Math, be a bigger man, and give India her due credit !
    Thank You.

damn the journo said ramanujan when neil said about Zero.
bro its Arya Bhatta who invented Zero
Ramanujan wrote about the equation of blackhole theory which was used ~100 years later after he died.

1200 years was not even close to millenia before christ, off the cuff remark on invention of zero but its ok not ur core area, ge the benefit of doubt , and balancing it out, politically correct. any given day my pick is neil for office.

The arabs were trading with indians for centuries and thats how the knowledge was shared to middle east…..this Neil thing deliberately tries to ignore this fact……further when vasco da gama discovered sea route, the doorway opened up for europeans…..notice that all major scientific discoveries by west happened after 1498

Both Modi and Tyson have a talent for jumping in front of cameras and attracting attention.
Tyson is not really a scientist. He hasn't done research in decades and barely did any even when he was in school. That is why University of Texas flunked him and showed him the door. They correctly informed him he had no aptitude for astrophysics. His error riddled pop science reveals that Neil doesn't even have a deep interest in science.
India was pushing the boundaries of science and technology well before Modi. Chandrayaan-1's discovery of water at the lunar poles was a major accomplishment in 2010 well before Modi came along. But somehow Modi wants to hog the glory.

Did Modi claim chandrayan 2/3 made water discovery?

@@spartaautube Not so far as I know. But he acts like he's led India to its advances in science and technology. When India had already placed a high priority on science and technology before Modi came in the picture.

@@HopDavid Well he is a politician after all, I don't know you are Indian are not, the reality of Indian space research before Modi was its always the scientistic took initiations with very little budget provided to them while the government busy dividing citizens by cast and religion and pedaling socialism, after Modi while he did not increase the budged any significant amount, but at least his gov made an effort to make people of India excited about the space, yes he did it for publicity but at least he is doing it.
And I 100% agree with everything about what you said about Mr. Neil Tyson he gave way too much credit to Arabs while all they did being a middleman transferring ideas from India to Europe.

    • @HopDavid
      @HopDavid หลายเดือนก่อน

@@playhard719 I will give the Arab caliphs credit for gathering knowledge from all over their known world into one place.
Paper making from China. Our base 10 numbering system, 0, negative numbers and algebra from India. Geometry and deductive reasoning from Greece. Various algorithms from many cultures. Astrolabes from Greece.
The Arabs helped preserve and spread knowledge. But they did not invent many of the revolutionary ideas coming out of the Islamic Golden Age (as Tyson used to imply).
In my opinion Brahmagupta should be part of the pantheon of major mathematicians. He should be up there with Euclid, Archimedes, Newton, Descartes, Kepler and Euler.
The Indian culture has always been a major source of revolutionary innovation. And I believe they will continue to be, with or without Modi.
However I will credit Modi for giving good publicity to some deserving people.
