Great video! But now I'm a little confused. I always thought that less Kv brings more torque so more power. As an example, a small Arrma Kraton 1/10 has a 2400kv motor and a large Arrma Kraton 1/5 has a 1250kv motor. But if you haven't changed anything on the Pinions, why was it faster with a weaker engine?
Done 123kph with belted tyres in a Talion with this power combo , with the right tyres and gearing up a bit im sure you guys can go even faster than that. Love your videos keep up the great work.
I put a castle sensored system in my Typhon with a few other upgrades just to see if it would keep up with some of the really expensive 1/8 buggies at my local track and it is a great buggy for the price. I let some of the really good racers drive it and thought they'd just laugh at my $500 car when they were used to driving their $1500 race rigs but they were really impressed, obviously still not as good as the race kits but I don't have $1000 to spend on a roller lol. Congrats on 100 KPH!

Great video!!! The high speed pinion should give another 10mph. Looking forward to seeing the Kaiju!!! They are out of stock everywhere at the moment. Love the Retro Datsun body. Can't wait to get one myself.
Camber and Toe setup right will increase your speed, dont forget Arrma setup thier buggy for offroad, so neg camber on front and probably a bit on back, and huge toe for front on typhons
Lower Kv + more Cells, high Kv + lower Cells, high Kv + more Cells = blown motor or esc. And because lower Kv pushes more torque you can put a much larger pinion on them and get them to speed alot faster, youll see some speed runs with massive motors at like 1250kv running 8s - 12s, with pinions on them so large they actually need a push start to get going, with a high Kv motor in the same system, it probably wouldnt move at all even with a push start, just no power.
Kiwis loved the Speed run. & Yes let amber do the speed run { A race between Joe running, like today & amber driving typhoon would be fun (man Vs RC) } Great cinematography & edit 👍👍👍👍. Kiwis you both Rock 👍👍👍👌👌👌.
Honestly the tires are okay cuz to be honest not all of us have Slick tires so showing the off road tires at high speed would give a good example of what speeds we'd be looking at if the tires were stock
The tyres are fine but on 6s on the road the tread gets grounded down to slicks in no time so it's just a waste unless you have a ruined set you want to try for yourself.
Hey Razor RC ! We love watching your videos we learn a lot from you! Cheers! We use a shotgun mic from Rode for the smartphone and it has a big fluffy wind protector for it which definitely helps when its windy! Nothing worse than bad wind noise...
@@TheRcKiwis Thanks! Nice to discover a new, amazing channel. I'll have to work my way through your older videos, I hope you have one explaining how you Kiwis ended up in Hong Kong. Looks like a pretty cool place to live. Cheers from America!
Did you guys have to Solder the wires or just plug them in? I have that same arrma, and I was thinking of getting the same motor and esc that you guys got.
Hi there rckiwis I've driven a tekno eb48.4 with the hobbywing xerun xr8+ with the 1900kv motor. I did 102 kmh not mph, GPS speed at 6s. Not sensored cause the cable was broken. 19 pinion and original spur gear so that not bad at all. Next time I'm thinking to use a 25t pinion. I've already changed the motor into a 2250kv so I'm thinking 140kmh should be possible but first i need some dboots or grp tires and I need to change the esc again. I've put it in my truggy for now. The tekno is just a 4s car for the moment with a 6s motor. With the hobbywing 120amp esc it drives 75kmh with a 16pinion so it's a pretty fast car with a great handling and I don't need upgrades. Its just a beast out of the box 🤷♂️
@@TheRcKiwis 🙈🙈 who doesn't love a good joke 🤷♂️😂 yeah definitely buy a tekno one day. They are a pleasure to build and they are almost bulletproof out of the box. I didn't brake anything yet and my car is almost 2y old. It's my best car so far and I've driven a lot of different rc cars. 2 times a year I give it a really good maintenance and I change all the bearings, oils, rubber seals and all the rest that starts to wear out. My diff output/ drive cups are insane strong, I still have the originals. I want the eb48 2.0 but I'm waiting maybe for a newer truggy version. My eb48.4 is still good for some years at the track or even for a good bash 🤷♂️😂 I ❤ tekno 😂 greets from Belgium
Nice run!! I would check Temps on the motor and esc if there cool up you pinion a few teeth. Then the fun begins! Lol I got my mojave up to 52.2 mph on a 17 tooth gear!! I used the losi 17t from my tt pro!! Lol Great Vid as always!!🤙🤙 oh I'm more of a castle creation fan. Going to put a mamba monster x 8s in the mojave with maybe a kraton 8s motor!! Thing is going to be wild!!
Yes, very keen on upping the gearing! I know we can get this RC going MUCH faster! We cant wait for our Mojave to arrive !! Expecting mid July... Thanks for watching our video! 😊
That's gettin it! Question... because I'm new to RC and don't know. At what point is too fast for that particular car? I mean, if you're running in dirt in rough terrain your suspension can only keep up to a point before it goes into seizures and you have to slow down or risk loosing control of the vehicle right? I raced Motocross and cross country for 30 years and the same physics applied. The same with trophy trucks, buggy's in desert racing. Heck I'm amazed how fast my WideMaxx 4s does here in the Arizona desert. Anyway, curious to know your thoughts. One more question for y'all. (I'm from Texas but have been in Arizona since 1999) What's the cost of living like in Hong Kong and how is the community for foreigners? I think most of the people I saw in the video background were non Asian? Thank you as always for your guys videos and let Amber drive the buggy! It's in a strait line Joe! 😂👍
Hey! We are both still beginners! I've seen guys get their Typhon well beyond 100MPH! Which is crazy fast! I guess it depends on what you are using it for, we like to bash with it but most of all take it to the track for some fun! What I have noticed is on the straights it does seem to outpace the competition there, but around the track its not as good (Also the fact we are novices at the track). I think for a basher and to have fun at the track its a perfect car and the stock motor/ecs speeds are absolutely fine! The only reason we got a new ESC/motor is because the stock BLX 185 ESC broke, you can see that happen in our durability test here th-cam.com/video/uO4PmQTcyAE/w-d-xo.html . To answer your second question, cost of living in Hong Kong can be what you make of it. You can live off noodles and street food very cheaply and find a tiny tiny apartment for around $1000USD per month. Or you can live enjoying steaks, western restaurants, better quality food from supermarkets and live in a half decent place but its going to be VERY expensive. We live in an area where there are a lot of expats so that's why you may have seen them in the background of videos, but when you head more into Hong Kong its a different story. There are a lot or foreigners however. Overall I would say Hong Kong is an expensive place to live especially for foreigners. Cheers! Maybe the next speed run! Maybe.....😁
@@TheRcKiwis thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. 😊 The areas that you've shown us sure look nice and I could definitely live off of the street food if I could figure out what was what. I know they eat some pretty strange stuff. 🤢😆 Have a great weekend!
@@AzTurboMini no point is to fast for a rc car. You just need to upgrade the right parts to be able to reach such speeds. For example my tekno buggy drives 102kmh at 6s and a 19t pinion but I also drive at the track so I just change my pinion to a 16t and I drive at 3 or 4s at the track. At 3s and the 16t pinion my top speed is 55, at 4s it's almost 70kmh but that's way enough for almost every track. At 3s I'm a little to slow at top speed but I take advantage in every corner so it's a little bit trial and error and searching what's best for your interests 🤷♂️ just my opinion, hope it helps you a little bit
@@harrysrcchannel5651 yes this makes a lot of sense! I keep forgetting how easy it is to swap out gear sets and tires so you can run the cars on a large outdoor track, small indoor track, open desert, grass, speed runs, BMX/Skate parks or plain ole bashing! It's not like once it's done it's like that forever or a major time consuming job to change. Thanks for your input! 😁✌️
@@AzTurboMini you're welcome. The newer rc cars are indeed a pleasure to work on. Tires, diffs and even shocks are changed in under 10 minutes if you know your car a little bit.
