    Great to see another series on the Erie Canal. We loved the Erie Canal and plan to do it again soon. Maybe we will catch up somewhere out there. 😊......and those pins are Clevis Pins

      The Erie Canal was great, happy to hear you're enjoying it. You never know we might bounce into each others. The crusing world seems to be small. Thanks for letting us know. Clevis pins it is. So much lingo in this sailing world 😀

    Bermuda was great! We had a really rough trip across ...got caught in a storm with 25-30ft seas and 45 knots of wind for 3 days...blew out the roller furling headsail when the furling line let go but we made it just fine. Fair winds to you guys!!!

      Thanks. It can be intimidating but we use to do it with the staff at Sugarloaf marina and helped a few people. It's easier than it looks. Like anything the first time is always scary.

      I feel like we learn something every day. Sailing is like going to school and you quickly become a Jack of all trades. And depending on the size of rig you have or type there are different gauges.

      Most of my experience is on a 300 foot + casino ship as a deck hand. A lot of the basics seem the same but I obviously have a lot to learn. At least I'm not prone to sea sickness LOL.@@WildlyIntrepid

    Hi there my friends of hope you're doing fantastic as it has been some time since I was last by but great to catch you guys and see what you're up to. Looks like the Bell was off again but I fixed that let's see if it stays this time and hope you guys are having a good one and enjoy seeing your trips of past. Locks are so cool as they changed the whole way we move in water and I think that they need to get lost I'm just what a technological feat they were when they came out. I was in Scotland the other year and got to see the revolving one and that's what brought back that thought to me. Hope you're doing fantastic and stay awesome and always great seeing you guys.

    • @WildlyIntrepid

      Hey thanks for hitting that bell again. That darn thing wont stay on. We are in the Bahamas now with alot less internet so we have been missing out on the live streams. Cant wait to catch up when we have more data. The locks are super cool and an amazing accomplishment in engineering. The locks in Scotland sound amazing. It would be super cool to get a chance to do those locks one day too. How is everything going with you two?

    Castleton On The Hudson is a great deal for stepping your mast. It's probably the busiest yacht club on the Hudson for just that reason!!! That's where we stopped in 2004 on our way to Bermuda...you are right though...the wake from the boats makes for some fun times :) Really enjoyed the Hudson river.

    I'm searching for a sailboat, ready to purchase in the spring. I had pretty much ruled out boats in the Great Lakes area, figuring getting one back would be beyond me. This and the other videos have pretty much convinced me I can do it. Thanks.

    • @WildlyIntrepid
      @WildlyIntrepid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an exciting adventure. The Erie Canal made it real easy to get down to New York. Then it's all about picking your weather window. And to NOT BE IN A RUSH. Glad we convinced you David that it was feasible. Are you from the Great Lakes?

    • @david78212

      @@WildlyIntrepid no Texas. I had not bothered thinking about boats from that area because getting back to Texas would be big transport cost and that’s just not in the budget. Coming through and down the East coast and the gulf is very doable. St Lawrence would take too long.

    • @WildlyIntrepid
      @WildlyIntrepid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Long ways from Texas. Some people have also done the Mississippi. The St. Lawrence can be challenging. Best of luck you'll have such a fun journey down if you do get a sailboat up there.

    What size chain and Mantus anchor were you using? That chain looks huge...and new.

    • @WildlyIntrepid
      @WildlyIntrepid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're using the 35lbs anchor with 150ft of 5/16 chain. And we love that setup. It's held us really well up to 50-60knot then we'd need to go the anchor size up for our size of boat.
