From the early days of Morning Tide- I thought you were the Shimano Stella Man! It was a good variety mix of the flagship reels between you, Briggsy and Cavy of Shimano and Daiwa. It's great to see you taking on the Daiwa reels- lol! Daiwa has really stepped up their game in these new line up of the Monoque body with the huge main gear!
Give us an update on that Certate 4000 after you get some good fish on it, mine has a little handle play but is still butter smooth have mixed feelings about the handle play but love the reel overall.
Beautiful piece of Kit! Very informative Video! Thanks, Brooksy! Just the thing now that I have accepted Shift Handover and the Long Night begins. Ya LEGEND!
I guess because you guys drive on the left and are used to switch gears with you're right hand.... maybe in England and Japan its the same. Anyway I hold the rod with my right hand 😉
New one sounds alot stronger, definitely glad you swapped to Diawa from Shimano too! What are your thoughts on the new Penn Slammer? Their drag system is a power house and a fair bit cheaper then a saltiga....
Own stradic, Saragossa, Stella, , miravel, ocea jigger 2500ld, ocea jigger 4000- just crossed over and currently waiting on a 18000 saltiga have to say getting a bit excited
Great video 👏 some advise please. I dont have the budget for 3 reels. I need one reel for popping/ jigging for big gt and dogtooth. What size reel would you recommend for multiple use. Regards
Does the paint on the new Saltiga seem tougher than on the old? (I saw you mention there's no sign of corrosion on the new reel yet.) Paint would come off the old reels easily.
Bro just a small question as regards to my fishing. How’s the daiwa BG series for medium light tackle. Your opinion on it I recently ordered a BG 3000 series
Good review mate.. when qld opens I'll have to invest.. what do you use for the reefie flats casting for trout, cod, wrasse an able to handle gt's to 15kg?.. is the 14k overkill?
I feel some new Zenaq's being added to the quiver as well...... that Ikari is a psycho rod hey. What a fishing partnership........big nibs.......one with the gunnel.....get that Jimmy.....💯🤙
I got the 14k in March when it first dropped, caught a few GT, a few blue fin trevs and a amberjack and its still brand new feeling. I got ygk pe6 super castman, fit the whole 300m spool. How much for your old saltigas?
using smaller sized Daiwa spinning reels in the past I had some problems with the anti-reverse ... especially in colder weather. did you had any negative experience with your antireverse? ... cheers ...
@@JonnyBrooksFishing The size 9 Marias are rated to 330lbs. Are the size 10 Decoys the ones you use for GT? The Marias have better memory than circle splits in my experience, but I don't fish for GT so lol
Thanks for the review, if I'm going to sink some real money in a good Reel, I want a review who really fishes and put some pressure on the reel and who knows their shit.
Do you hear any noise as you crank your reel saltiga 2020? Because I notice I hear noise on mine as I crank my reel. Like straight out from the box. I thought it is a defect and went back to the bait shop and the owner said it is normal for the saltiga. I’m wondering if you encountered the same thing or not? Does it completely silence when you crank or still hear any noise?
South African rock and surf anglers use these reels very differently. They are making noises like the shaft is bent. Many went back waiting to see what is the faults
Brass gears work well but have their breaking point just like anything else. Daiwa's gears are massive. Even the Zinc made gears in the BGs are huge and designed to last. I'm fishing on a pro level and speaking from experience. I have multiple Daiwa spinning reels and have not stripped a single gear yet. Even my $30 reels. A lot of them are over 7 years old. The only main gear I ever had to replace was from a Penn Battle ll that I bought back in 2016.
I have one question for you, which is the model that you buy it ? 20000H for the Tobizo TC80-200? In your opinion with model as your experience is the best for the Graphiteleader protone tuna until 180gr of plug and 405 grams weight with 2,59meters? Saltiga 14000XH, Saltiga 18000H or the new Certate 14000Xh or 18000H? thank you
It doesnt matter if its fishing reel a machine a gearbox or a engine if there is alot of load on gears bearings etc without grease or oil metal on metal they will chew out big time no matter who made it.
If you look at exploded views of stellas and saltigas there are tons of small plastic parts in the stellas, the daiwas have way fewer parts and mostly metal.
18000 and 20000 are identical, only difference is 5-10g weight and the 20000 has solid 25% extra capcity, so get 20.000 reels, or sell the 18000 spool and get a 20000 instead! I've been spooled before, go big or go home, if ya have a reel with different spool sizes, always go with the biggest spool, can be the difference between landin' and loosin' the fish of a lifetime!
did you follow back in the day when my Stellas were falling to pieces on every other trip? if you were you'd understand why I'm pretty psyched on a reel with strong gears haha.
Just bought a 2020 DIAWA SALTIGA 20000-H , faulty straight out the box, binding noise and clicking once per rotation, sent it to Diawa UK in Scotland, they say they have a three week back log on Diawa spinning reels!!!
After inspection they said it’s normal fir the binding noise and a click once per rotation, they offered a replacement reel , i accepted the offer, the reel arrived and it was worse than the first, i returned the reel to the seller who refunded me so now still looking for a decent reel .
I can't ecen imagine a roken gear in a stella ore older saltiga, i believe that the new saltiga gear is a little bit stronger or at least the same than the old, cause it's made of duraluminum, the old was marine bronze what's more than double in strengh, cause of the hughe teeth in the 2020 it's pretty much on the same level, gives more cranking power than the old but not much more durable, they pretty much copyed this gear concept from the 2016 bg: weaker material, but larger gear with giant teeth creates a strong and durable gear, the pinion gear of the new model is bigger, but also of weaker material, i'm not sure if it's marine bronze or just brass, but the old was stainless steel, I really hope it's marine bronze cause brass wouldd be a definitiv downgrade.
How are those 2020 Saltigas treating you now? Almost time for the 12 month update.... 😉
Nice reel, I love my 2020 Shimano Stella SW 18,000; Using it for a year now with zero issues.
This is rare to see someone who speak about Saltiga 2020 after 6 months of intensive use on GT fishing.
Big like for that!
Cheers! 🍻🎣😉
Hi again. I forget to ask you.. How many meters of PE 10 Tasline you put on 20000 Saltiga?
Thank you for your time and comprehension.
Cheers 🎣
Amazing Review Brooksy! If there‘s a Daiwa Guy reading this: Please make a Saltiga MQ Dogfight in Black colour scheme happen!
Hey Brooksy, Really enjoy watching your're fishing videos. Keep up the good work!
Well over due for the 12 months review! Cant wait to hear more abt the saltiga 2020!

Thanks Brook. Had to wait for this review.
I’ll never understand how you have less subscribers then those other two people Your videos are much better
love the vids ..goto ask though ..why do you ozzies have the handle on the right ..you cast right handed then swap hands to reel ..lol why ??
hahahaha if i had a dollar for everytime someone asked that.. just how we do it mate.
feels better when hooked up
I guess because you guys drive on the left and are used to switch gears with you're right hand.... maybe in England and Japan its the same. Anyway I hold the rod with my right hand 😉
Only the Gumby anglers do it that way. Right handers should wind with the left.
South African anglers are the same. We throw with our left hands and reel with the right.
New one sounds alot stronger, definitely glad you swapped to Diawa from Shimano too! What are your thoughts on the new Penn Slammer? Their drag system is a power house and a fair bit cheaper then a saltiga....
SLAMMER lll is not new and competes in the MIDDLE RANK league with SPHEROS & SARAGOSA SW .... hs 8500 had no rival but now he has the gosa hs 18k!
Ppbrooksy just saying I prefer the Stella but maybe I’ll try out the new saltiga
How did you like the certate?
How the Saltigas treating you now ?

Love the review man, gonna be picking on up soon for fishing on the beach and rocks
Gonna be putting it on a breakaway omega 10'6
Does the paint on the new Saltiga seem tougher than on the old?
(I saw you mention there's no sign of corrosion on the new reel yet.)
Paint would come off the old reels easily.
Yep, pretty pissed about that actually because it seems the 15 saltiga was bad for paint. My 12 isla's paint is in way better condition.
Yeeeew!!

Great video looking to buy won now was a little bit worried about buying in before I watched this would you recommend me buy the 2020 saltiga for gts
the best reel on the market for GT in my opinion with the bigger stronger gearing.
OK thanks hopefully put it to test when I get one with my Spartan pe6 rod which I have a Stella on now
What is that box the reel is in, is that used for drying it out ?
What reel size of new saltiga are you recommend for a saltiga travel rod 30-120gr? Thanks.
BIG BROOKSAY U MELON!!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GO

there are no anti reverse in Daiwa "Saltiga" models
I got 120 lb braid on my saltiga 20000. Is it too heavy for the reel?
What is the price?
yew thanks for the review very informative.
I got the SALTIGA S EXTREM 6500 in red color for the australian marquet. Do you know it??? All aluminium body and spool...
Awesome
Love my 10k
Can we get a 6000 size?
Give the Maria oval split rings a try

Getting close to 12 months now
Update please?
Just got my first daiwa reel. But don’t have a rod to pair with . Any recommendations on budget rods for gt fishing ?
Major craft giant killing
Black hole rods are amazing
Yeeeew up the brooksy
He should try an okuma makaira spinner.
Watching this makes me feel like i need a 2020 saltiga🥺
Does someone know why he went from stella to saltiga? Apparently he just suddenly switched
He got paid by Daiwa to use Daiwa....
He had problems with his Stella’s.
He said he was sponsored. So even if the next is better, the sponsored one will always be more better even if it's Sh1t
Because shimano is trash there drags are a joke.
It doesnt matter if its fishing reel a machine a gearbox or a engine if there is alot of load on gears bearings etc without grease or oil metal on metal they will chew out big time no matter who made it.
