The grid is not ready for huge electric loads. But there are two cheap solutions.
The first is reconductoring, this must be done by the utilities. Putting in transmission wires that can carry a higher load. As well better computer algorithms can decide when more energy can be transmitted during cooler weather etc.
The second involves mega packs. By situating these where there is insufficient peak power. They can charge when excess power is available and give it back when peak power is required.
Due to the existing grid not having the power to handle a lot of semi trucks charging all at once. Tesla can add a megapack at each charger. These can charge up when excess electricity capacity is available. At night or in the day when much extra solar or wind is available. These packs can ease any extra power required when several semis charge at once.
They could also sell power back to the grid to prevent brown outs.
I think they are not happy with the present battery Teck... And will jump 🦘 on new technology before mass production.
"Brown outs" :- the process of ICE truck shareholders (esp. BlunderF00k) filling their tighty whiteys when they see ICE truck sales plummet....
