  • The Kia Seltos got a bit of an upgrade for the 2024 model, bringing in a great new digital cluster. It has the same smaller 8" infotainment in the lower trims with a larger 10.25" in the higher trims that you'll find in a number of other Kia vehicles.
    The Seltos is a cost effective ride with some great available technology. You'll find it front wheel or all wheel drive with either a 2.0L naturally aspirated or 1.6L turbocharged engine. It's peppy and has more than enough space for 4 adults (5 if they're a bit smaller). This video dives in deep and you'll learn everything about the 2024 Seltos including cargo dimensions, technology, engine power and more.

    Steve one trend I have noticed with Kia and Hyundi along with a couple other makers is moving the signal lights down to the bumper where the reflectors normally are. To me this is a bad place to locate the signal lights because they are not up at eye level and will get covered with snow or mud easy. Also for people driving higher vehicles like trucks they will not be seen in some situations. Not sure if this one is like this but I did see a clear lens at the bottom which means they likely are.
    I don't know if you or others have noticed this but your thoughts ?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The signals are close to mid liftgate which isn’t too bad but for cars that have it further down there’s always the possibility of it being covered by snow. I’m going to start adding in a view of the turn signals in future videos

    Smart Liftgate and Smart Engine Compartment (everything in there is for once - actually accessible, for me at least) and the contiguous cluster multimedia screen is a definite winner. However against this backdrop is an old fashioned manual shifter along with a handbrake that will require adjustments. Hence that still leaves me now tossed up between Seltos and Kona...

    Should have mentioned the front door is shorter than the back door. Anyone over 6 feet will probably hit the pillar upon entering the vehicle with a certain regularity, nice of parents with children.
    Is there anyway to turn off the adaptive cruise and just set it on cruise on the SX, pain in the fanny when someone passes and returns into the lane in front of you. Always breaks because even with the shortest distance chosen it always breaks?
    Used the lane centering system, the coffee cup with the saying Maybe you should take a break came on as the centering system wobbled between the lines as if they'd disappear if it didn't keep checking on it, can that stupid coffee break be turned off? Haven't found a way to do so yet.
    Overall I'd give the car maybe a thin 6.5 rating.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm interesting.. never had anyone mention getting into the 2nd row. I'll look at adding that in for future videos! There's unfortunately no way to turn off adaptive cruise. I've found it just helps to be quick on the draw in case you get cut off or people start to merge into the lane you're in. Some versions of the Seltos will let you turn it off but if you have it, you'll be able to find it in the dash cluster screen under User Settings --> Driver Attention Warning

    I drove an EX a few days ago. Sharp looking exterior. Test drive = decent power for base engine, ride was comfortable. Interior: I'm only 5"10" and with the driver seat all the way back I felt cramped, smaller then what I expected, lots of cheap plastic in the interior (the back of the front seats is largely a clam shell of hard plastic). Lots of tech and standard goodies on this trim but overall not for me. I've been test driving many different vehicles in this class and most are much better. Sorry KIA.

      I currently drive a 2018 VW Tiguan SE 4Motion. Without a doubt the best vehicle I ever owned and that includes a lot of vehicles. I'm 73 years old. I just went out of warranty and I'm shopping to see if it would be worthwhile to purchase for that purpose. Absolutely nothing ever wrong with the Tiguan after 74k miles. I've test driven the VW Taos, Chevy Trailblazer, Mazda CX5 and the Kia Seltos so far. In my opinion among these I would chose the VW Taos with the Mazda CX5 a very close alternative. @CarsWithSteve the High Altitude. The acceleration was fine, as was the interior. But the feel of the steering was way too numb for me. The AWD vehicle I'm replacing has very similar dimensions and a 200hp 2.0 turbo 4, which is why I was interested. Plus it was advertised at $9K under sticker. That was a bit deceptive, though. It required financing through the dealer at 8.5%. That wouldn't have mattered, I would have payed it off in 2 months. But even a year of financing would have negated the price reduction.
