Green Day is that one band you grew up with, was always a part of you, and never let you down in the end. My dudes! Favorite band of all-time. 💯So grateful they're still around doing what they do. 🙏
My favorite band since 1993! They’ve had a few missteps in recent years, but Saviors is, imo, the best album they’ve put out since American Idiot. Can’t wait to see them live this summer!
@@JetBlack45 I actually listened to it last night for the first time since 2009. It's A LOT better than I remember. I think I was burnt out on the American Idiot punk rock opera schtick when this album came out and wrote it off as a "less good American Idiot".
My pops took me to buy my first ever CD back in 04. I was in the 2nd grade. From of a whole store full of CDs, I chose American Idiot by Green Day. Immediately fell in love, became immersed, and they have been my favorite band since. Listening to AI with my dad in the car in my younger years was some of the greatest childhood memories. My pops passed a few months ago unexpectedly and I just know he would freak out it if I told him I’m going to see Green Day play the whole album he got me (plus Dookie) in its entirety live. New album Saviors is amazing! 🤘

I went to the Savior's Tour in September, in Phoenix, and it was honestly one of the absolute best concerts I've ever been to! It was so fucking nostalgic and it was fucking epic! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I grew up as a skate punk in the 90's and I remember the song "Disappearing Boy" being used in a skate video. This was pre-Dookie. I hate to be one of those guys that says "oh I knew about them before they got big" but every skate scene knew about bands like this before they became mainstream. Such fond memories.
They didn't say it was 🙃"We wanted to make like just something that was just like straight more of a punk rock record like the way that we've done in the past, so there's "Look Ma, No Brains!' There's also, you know, there's the stadium kind of thing we wanted to do." - Billie Joe Armstrong Then the Reporter V.O. said "Those stadium anthems like 21 guns... fueling a long awaited tour as the band hits the road this summer... for fans, a momentous moment melding the old with the new for one massive experience." So the Reporter was using 21 Guns as an example of past songs that are the type of "Stadium kind of thing" that Billie Joe was referencing in the clip before.... Nowhere did they say that 21 Guns was on the Saviors record... it was used as an example of the type of stadium songs that Green Day wanted to make more of.
I agree with this. They just follow mainstream narratives. With that said, what Green Day, and Billie Joe do really well, is analyze the human condition. Dilemma off the new album is a good example of that. I like how he sings "I'm in trouble and I'm love again" - such a poetic way to describe addiction.
@@iwillsurvivethehighfivecauseiawhen you pick the word mainstream to critisicise things, it makes it seem like the only reason you have your ideologies is because they are less popular and make you feel special, and not based on the merits of the ideology itself. Just friendly advice.
@@Home-u6g Appreciate it. But why would you assume that I only choose my beliefs because I call something mainstream? I don't understand how those two things are connected. I can have my own beliefs that are not shared by the vast majority, nor what is propagated by popular media. Mainstream simply means what is popular; whether I use that to create my own views is a separate issue. What I accuse Green Day of is regurgitation - that they repeat what they hear on CNN and represent that as their own views, without understanding the issues.
@@iwillsurvivethehighfivecauseia I don't have to assume, I'm going off what you said. The problem is it's the only word you chose to criticise the other side in your statement, making it seem like your only problem with them is the fact that they are mainstream. That was the first word that came to your mind when describing them. I'm sure it's not really what your outlook is, but that's what you're portraying

The fact that they had to play OMG by Usher instead of one of Green Day’s songs make me feel…
