"WD-40 is named after the number of attempts it took to develop the product's formula: "Water Displacement, 40th formula". The name comes from the lab book of the chemist who created the product.
In 1953, a team of scientists led by Norm Larsen at the Rocket Chemical Company in San Diego were tasked with creating a rust-prevention formula for aerospace technology. They needed a formula that would protect the Atlas Missile's outer skin from rust without adding too much weight, as paint would have done. After 40 failed attempts, they finally succeeded in developing a formula that could displace water, preventing rust and corrosion. The product was so effective that employees began taking cans home to use around the house, and the company eventually began selling it commercially."
Woah, didn't know this. Thanks!
It's a solvent, not a lubercant. It will jam locks and ruins tools.

Wrong. It's both.
Wow, this was interesting to know, thank you for this info
@@davidschonhardt4958jams locks? I used this a couple months ago to fix my bedroom door handle that took force to turn. Unscrewed it a little off the door, sprayed some in and it's worked like a charm since.
😂 Its so funny, one of our housemates goes outside to the palm tree and smokes cigarettes and on occasion a cockroach is on his back or head when he goes back in the house, but the wd40 trick would not work or be practical in this situation. We will tell him to just swish his hands about to make any cockroaches fly away before going in the house. 😂
WD40 is neither a lubricant nor does it contain any oil. (Original formula) But it works wonders in so many situations.
They purposely forget to mention it smell is definitely not desirable at all and tends to linger for awhile!
YES that is one thing I hate about it too....maybe use a mask....I will try that....
It's not that bad
Thanks very much for tips, E.DAguiar 🇬🇾
Glad it was helpful!

O o grampa tell me bout the good ole days 😹💞
Right💕love that song
I wouldn't use this anywhere near anything related to food serving or preparation.
Great! I wonder if WD_40 on the car windshield would stop it from fogging up during the Winter. I'll bet the WD-40 on car locks would keep them unfrozen during Winter [for those who still use keys 🙂]. Would spraying the blades of a fan stop the dust from sticking? I'm going to try that the next time I clean my box fan.
I subscribed too, I knew some of this , not all of them thanks for sharing..... keep finding out news ones.....love it..... but I'm thinking if you had wood floors wouldn't it make the floors slick if you were working on one certain spot.?? Or ok to clean it off with something so that area doesn't get slick..... I keep a can of this and use it on squeaky door hinges, anxious to try it to remove black markers on things.....🤣Good job THANKS
It definitely helps everyone, everywhere
Yes it smells because it is a petroleum chemical like paint thinner or gasoline. It evaporates with time.
Thanks!
thanks as well!!
I use wd40 ALWAYS on my vehicle when going through car washes 🤘
Good stuff!
Theres an "off-season" for grilling?
TX, Once I BBQ'd as a tornado 🌪 was coming. I saw a poor cat go flying horizontally in front of me, but I was almost done anyway! 😊
To me Wd40 and Vinegar are miraculous in my house which I been laughed at from my children...
I had 3 girls, all with long hair. WD 40 in our place was fabulous for getting chewing gum out of their hair.
Does this work in garden for pests & slugs, snails?
No. It has chemicals that could kill plants.
What happened to WD-1 thru WD-39?
40 is the final number in how many tries it took to get it right!
If you really want to know Google has the history of WD-40.
Clever, right?

Only thing is. It smells
NO. YOU SMELL. IT STINKS.
❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Never put wd40 on gun internals- it prevents oil and grease from doing the their job as it will repeal oil as much as it does water- this will hurt your firearm- wd40 doesn’t properly lubricate
Wrong. It's a solvent and a lubricant. You are rite that it is not a gun lubricant.

When did cockroaches begin flying?
In Arizona, it's the large sewer roaches that fly! The first time I witnessed that, I just couldn't believe it! Lol Those things are gross enough just crawling around as fast and they do and then to find out they have an additional form of travel..... well that was enough for me! Yuck!
Certain species.
But the smell ! 😮😮😮😮😮😮
It evaporates.
