For me personally it is so amazing to see these videos. I am exhausted just listening to the breathing and their slow pace in walking; so much endurance. I am not a climber at all, I don't even like cold weather or snow; yet I am glued to my computer watching the climb unfold. The view all around is spectacular. I must have been a Mountaineer in my past life. Thank you David Snow.

Same! I consider myself and armchair mountaineer. To go out there and do this is a dream.

Loved that there was no music and you could hear all the natural and climbing sounds. I wanted more of the last part of the climb to the summit. Amazing landscape and CLOUDS! Like mountains.

Im starting to watch it. I am 9 hours ahead of you. I was supposed to go to Ama Dablam 3 years ago, but my dad passed away and it (after Don) it nearly destroyed me (pancreatic CA). He was my rock, and he had called me every day since 2005. Then relocating to Northwestern...but I have many of the Seven. Fell and tore some ligament in pelvis (didn't know about it until later), but in all honesty I have never done all the PT. I really wanna end my climbing career with that. I spend a month or so every few years in Africa (our guide and his family became my friend in 2005). I just got to go back for December to see his daughter marry. WOW for cultural experiences. And pix, and ceremonies, and dances, you name it. Just wow.

Fantastic video. I have questions about the Puja ceremony, if anyone knows the answers: Why was Coca-Cola so prominently lined up in front of the guy performing the ceremony?

I agree. Looks a walk on a busy park trail, shaperoned by youth camp leaders, with a good chance of dropping dead, guess to add suspense and drown buyer remorse about guiding fee. Nope.

Manaslu has a false summit that is separated from the true summit by a long and dangerous sharp corniced ridge. In 2021, an investigation by a team of international experts reported in the American Alpine Journal that the vast majority of climbers
( including those In this video ) who claimed to have summited Manaslu had not in fact stood on the true peak.

The altitude is hard on the human body obviously, but to acclamate is difficult, unlike people who've been born and raised in that thin air, climbers seem to think they can just acclamate in a few days isn't like a set rule, I don't think your body adjusts that much unless you spend a long time, maybe years to completely adjust. That's why climbers who try to summit places like everest get sick and lose their faculties

    • @imdrunken

Actually it is known it only takes a few days for the body to adapt and produce more red blood cell(they carry oxygen).

The "False Summit" controversy is typical of woke-pc armchair adventures who comment on Explorer'sWeb... 3 m and such a fuss!
I summited Manaslu on Sept 27th and did NOT, CONSCIOUSLY take the risk to climb to the other summit since the route had not yet been fixed. Guess I'm a loser, I only summited the first one ;-)))

    • @davidhenderson9707

They have no idea about cornices and the dangers this entails. Ignore.

I watched a programme about Nepal on TV & didn't consciously take the risk to climb to the TRUE summit of Mt Manaslu either.
