    A group of Space Wolves are standing around a table in a bar shouting "Thirty Days! Thirty Days!", raising toasts and cheering like the Emperor has risen again.
    A Salamander comes on by and says "Brothers, I have heard your chanting and seen you cheering. Why are you chanting 'Thirty Days'?"
    One of the Space Wolves turns to him and says, "Well met brother! We took on a fearsome task that challenged us all to our limits, and yet we completed it in naught but a fraction of the time. In a mere 30 days!"
    "Indeed? What mighty task was this?"
    "That puzzle said 3-4 years. We did it in 30 days!"

      Considering they are much shorter than the average human, and the insane amount of genetic engineering humanity has gone under over the years (Humans lifespans in 40k universe 100+ years, Tau < 100) I'd certainly expect the humans to be better at melee. They got 40k years of evolution. Tau been around for about 3 and a half.

    They are my favorite race.
    They are the only one who, if some unfathomable miracle granted them total victory, would know how to deal with peace.
    Every other race is almost entierly turned toward war, to the point that "peace" is just rest before the next battle. Should any win, they would consume themselves in the blink of an eye.
    All but the Tau. And the Eldar, which is why they are my second favorite race.

    An idea that seems quite interesting to me, but is more just an idea of the Tau. What if the Ethrials and Tau were created by the Old ones in response to the Enslavers incident. With the race as a whole being shielded, and masked in the warp reducing both their presence an influence on the warp, while the Etherials acted as a gate or focusing lens to both access an effect the warp. Like that a Etherial could channel the energy of many Tau caste members to influence the warp via, even if they are quite weak and dim in the warp having so many dim lights would still be quite powerful.

    • @Contevent
      @Contevent 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aren't the old ones dead?
      I mean, the Tau probably weren't out of their cave during the creation of the Eye of Terror.

    • @elricengquist9989
      @elricengquist9989 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True though humanity is I believe also one of their creations an came into being much later after their downfall too, and not all of them were killed off right away an lived on for awhile in secret if I remember right. There is the other possibility this was a project started prior to their downfall an thru some form of program was sustained an completed many eons later. There is also the fact that the Tau leaped in technology quite quickly after being surrounded by a warp storm.
      I would also say that if the Old ones started the project to create the tau in that fashion, but were unable to refine or complete it on their own time tables. Than it could take all of this time for the project to finish naturally thru a system an time frame of eons without the Old ones accelerating it like they did with the Eldar for instance, and the Tau in this example would have been quite abit more complex a creation meaning more time to complete an refine if true. Hell could say that the Tau are a unfinished an unrefined version of what the Old Ones might have wanted to create if they were their last creations prior to thier downfall.

    I don't understand why the Forces of Chaos have not stolen and reverse-engineered Tau and Eldar technology so long ago
    They should have Dark Eldar Equipment before the 1st Black Crusade (at least Helion and Incubi Equipment)
    Plenty of destroyed Craftworlds laying around in the Warp. Easy for the Dark Mechanicum to loot and research Eldar Designs

    • @lazyc0mmander277
      @lazyc0mmander277 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I figure some are probably doing this already but I guess when you can tell reality to go fuck itself already you don't much care about technology and you're fine with you crapy imperial weponry boosted with warp stuff. I figure the ones that would be the most interested would be the darkn mechanicus but they're probably more interested in working on their own desing rather than reverse-engineer old tech.
      Keep in mind this is all my own theory and not at all official. Unless it actually is in which case Hooray I'm a genius!

    • @christiandauz3742
      @christiandauz3742 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Realistically, for as much as that term can apply to Warhammer, Chaos should have won a long time ago
      Ways in which they could have plausibly won before the 41st Millenium:
      -(Before he started the Horus Heresy) Horus could have ordered the Dark Angels to attack Craftworld Ulthwe (close to the Eye of Terror) which would result in mutual annihilation!
      -Having the White Scars appear over Prospero immediately after the First Battle of Prospero (Khan and the WS would attack Russ and the SW for attacking the Thousand Sons)
      -Have Lorgar actually participate in the Long War (Imagine the Word Bearer Primarch in the Battle of the Fang M32. Bye-bye Space Wolves!)
      -Alternatively, Horus could send Vulkan and the Salamanders to attack Trazyn's Tomb World (Every Salamander killed by the Necrons is a Loyalist not participating in the Horus Heresy)
      -Similarly, the Warmaster could send half of the Ultramarines to attack Biel-Tan
      -Had Omegon participated in the Battle of Pluto, Dorn would be dead and Alpharius would be still alive
      -The Warp Portal on Molech made Horus stronger. So why wasn't it used on the other Traitor Primarchs and leaders? (At least Mortarion, Ignatius Grulgor, Abaddon, Little Horus Aximand, Falkus Kibre and the other Captains since they were on Molech at that time)
      -Remember that time when Warsmith Shon'tu used a Space Hulk as a missile to hit Terra? Why don't the Traitors just keep doing that? (Astropaths and other Psykers are easy to find and capture. Plenty of Space Hulks in the Warp)
      -Konrad Curze throws Vulkan into the Warp/Eye of Terror (He'll be stuck there and the Salamanders alone can't rescue him own their own)
      -The Blood Gorgons joining the Macharius Crusade, Sabbat Worlds Crusade or 13th Black Crusade on the side of Chaos
      -Having the Black Dragoons, Lamenters, Blood Drinkers and Blood Ravens join the Abyssal Crusade
      -Abaddon support's Typhus plan of using the Three Sentient Warp Engines to GO BACK IN TIME!
      -Depriving the Emperor and the Golden Throne of the daily Psyker Sacrifices (Chaos Space Marines intercept and destroy the Black Ships, full of psykers, before they reach Terra)
      It's not just 40k that is full of plot holes (and ways Chaos can win easily). I can do another list on Fantasy

    • @lazyc0mmander277
      @lazyc0mmander277 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always assume that the chaos gods are well beyond giving a fuck about winning. All they want is to have their own idea of fun while the rest of the universe is more busy fighting wars due to their own carelesness. And that would explain why they don't bother really helping anyone most of the time but also why reality hasn't already collapsed.

    • @Tordek
      @Tordek 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's possible that Chaos don't even recognize Tau, since they're not psyker and are unable to travel through Warp.

    • @lazyc0mmander277
      @lazyc0mmander277 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I think it's fairly thoroughly demonstrated that chaos does have an influence on the Tau something that wouldn't be possible if they were completly unoticeable by it. And I'd assume chaos isn't one to let opportunities fly by even though their machinations might be more subtle as for other races. It might be more akin the orks' relationship with chaos with maybe less of a willingness to embrace the evil of it.

    >Space communists = Caste System
    These two things do not go together :P
    Edit: AND HERE'S WHY!
    Communism: Resources are equally distributed between communes and individual citizens, the state then dissolves entirely, everyone lives equally with no overhanging government.
    Caste System: Every citizen belongs to a set Caste in society which are rigid and hierarchical, based on total adherence to one's superior.
    What everyone is probably thinking of is Stalinist Communism where the resources entirely fail to be distributed equally and the state becomes incredibly large and corrupt, like capitalism but citizens have no way to advance their own interests via business because everything is state owned. This is a CORRUPTION of communism and does the ideology a disservice (I am not communist myself btw :P)

    Does anyone else find it odd that when Games Workshop decided to add a good guy race to 40k, they went with philosopher kings? I mean that would make more sense if they were sticking to the this future sucks and no one is a good guy motto, but that doesn't seem to be the case, so I have been told, in their earlier introduction.

    • @TheAmazingTwist
      @TheAmazingTwist 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are probably less "good guys" and more likely controlled by the Ethereals to do their bidding. It's been implied a lot.
      A nice, happy society with no actual free will.

    • @samualwatkins
      @samualwatkins 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But it wasn't implied when they were first introduced right? So what does Games Workshop just think we should all be ruled by dictators and live in a caste system? That is assuming if they were introduced in this way.

    • @Contevent
      @Contevent 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's the same as the Breton in Warhammer.
      They introduced a faction, they had an idea, but along the way the writers were tired of bleak hopeless mentality. So they corrected the way into something brighter, shinier, something that could finally have some positivism in it.
      Yes, the Tau are the "good guys", but it seems more by accident than purpose, the writers didn't want us to think them as THE example to follow. They were a breath of fresh air.
      Afterward, they mitigated it, in order to better stick with the rest of the universe. They made them very small, naive, and put an aura of unease with the Etherals.
      But you know the universe is fucked up when a caste system governed by a mind controlling dictatorial power fanatically following a religious doctrine is actually the best place to live for the common people.

    • @TheDarkFable
      @TheDarkFable 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original aim was to have Farsight as the "grimdark" part. He went rogue, and made a fire caste only settlement. The goal was to probably show absolute control and seperating people by castes only creates inter caste tension and racism. But the lore changed into the main Tau society been a creepy dystopia where everyones controlled by supreme beings and Farsight escaped by accident.
      However as for your "So what does Games Workshop just think we should all be ruled by dictators and live in a caste system? ". No, Games Workshop isn't some evil propaganda company that is trying to brainwash people through games that we should live under a dictatorship and thinking so is..stupid.

    Awesome video man. Just outta question, what is the greater good specifically?

    • @Contevent
      @Contevent 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a religious doctrine, but it is very vague, only the Etheral can speak for it.
      Globally, the greater good is the idea that the living are all one people who thrive for a common goal, survival and prosperity. In order to achieve this goal, individual must bow to the need of the community, and communities to the need of those bigger than them.
      It also imply that all living things can live under the Tau teachings, and therefor the doctrine welcome all.
      While the Tau have successfully integrated a lot of alien species as allies, most of the playable factions in 40k were deemed irredeemable with two notable exceptions. The Humans, who adapts pretty well under the Tau teachings, and the Eldar, who don't seem interested by their philosophy but are far more reasonable than the other races.
      Under the greater good, the empire grow, and with it, so does the prosperity of all inside it.

    • @lazyc0mmander277
      @lazyc0mmander277 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great sumary although I think there's one detail missing. The Greater Good also dictate that everyone's life is valuable and shouldn't be thrown away carelessly. And while that is admitedly something the Imperium also believe in general it's not all humans that actually bother being that careful.

    • @TheDarkFable

      The idea is, the caste in the early days were kind of avian like. They had "wings", hollow bones and much greater spatial awareness. Also like birds they could pull high G force turns while flying.

      My loyalty belongs to the Imperium, though I am willing to fight alongside Xenos to defeat the arch-heretics, except tryanids, we all hate them.

    So if a Tau was to go insane which one of these 4 castes would be handling it.

    • @kodylarson2983

      i suppose that depends on what caste said tau came from

      It is implied in one of the books that the earth caste would be in charge of any and all medical issues. Though maybe the ethereal case could get involved if it involved doctrinal issues.

      Considering the Ethereals have Fire Warriors who witness the forces of Chaos purged or brainscrubbed similar to the imperium, I think it's them who handle insane Tau.

      Do your research first Mate.
      The Tau are Slavemasters and immoral as Hell, especially if you don't join out of free will.
      I'd rather side with an Ork

      The Tau are a mix of all kinds of communism/monarchies basically. Basically the poor live like communist while the "upper" class are rulers.

    • @Rohnon

      No they don't
      They live in a Caste System which opposes communism.
      Also they do not have a monarchie, because they do not have one Ruler.
      Dude that is basic political knowledge!

    I know most of you jokingly call them blueberry space communists. But calling them commies while they have cast system is simply wrong. Communism is "anti-imperialistic" and anti-cast system. There are no bourgeoisie, at leas in theory, in a communism. Now, these blue berries are, safe to say, a big imperialists and are ruled by capitalistic-like idealistically homogeneous oligarchy.
    Edit: Instead of Capitalistic-like, let's use Theocracy. That should be on point.

    • @Contevent
      @Contevent 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't see the capitalism in that.
      While they do have a politic of constant expansion, we do not know how they manage their resources.

    • @WolfyOfHonor
      @WolfyOfHonor 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, that's true. But it's also another point to not calling them commies, until Games Workshop reveals more of Tau to us.
      On the other note, I remember watching a video of Tau trading with Human world to gain their trust and expand influence. So how was that trade done? Open market between planets? Sending aid packages that are manufactured in Tau government held industrial complexes? Who knows.

      WolfyOfHonor lols, you think a rigid caste system is capitalistic? when adam smith's works goes against the notions of kings and queens and focuses on a system that relies on meritocracy?

    • @Contevent

      Far right?
      What makes you say that?

    • @AbraSahira
      @AbraSahira 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The communism thing is due to the propaganda and the way they go about things. Tau are essentially Stalinistic communists propaganda machine and punishments with an oligarchy based caste system.

    So space communists...gotcha. Also I find it odd their casts didn't degenerate from inbreeding unless they found some way to maintain genetic diversity.

    • @lazyc0mmander277
      @lazyc0mmander277 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      A caste system realy doesn't have anything to do with communism.

    • @slightlybored
      @slightlybored 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      they probably aren't inbreds because each caste numbered on the millions even before the ethereals showed up, think of the different populations here on earth that could only reproduce among themselves and their close neighbours for most of human history

    • @Jaeger_Bishop
      @Jaeger_Bishop 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I said "unless they found some way to maintain genetic diversity." in this case they did so problem solved.
