Thank you for such a helpful video! Your channel is really helpful - I’m a new lace maker a long way from any lace groups and your advice has been invaluable.

I use this idea for knitting patterns as well. I color patterns, i.e., k2tog etc a different color.

I love all your videos. Thank you. I tried to buy books on your website. It would not let me. 😢. Love your work.

That's very strange.. I'll look when I get back to my computer. The books are stocked by suppliers in the UK and US if ypu need to buy before then.

    Thanks for this video.
I was having trouble working out how to go about a pattern I have. I'll try your technique. It's a Chantilly based work

Hi Louise, another great video, but could you show a photo of the area of work coloured in completed. If that makes sense. Thank you.

Thanks for the comment. I can't add a photo to a comment on here to show you.. I should have included that, bit rusty after not doing videos for some months.

So you wouldn't use the green HS, purple CS, red WS (DS) I have seen in european patterns? I wonder about colouring pastel versions of those in the background, rather than tracing the lines with full strength colours as I have seen on some graphed patterns.

Thanks for your comment. You could very well use the international colours if you so wanted, Bedfordshire does not have any history of using working diagrams and so very few patterns come with diagrams using this colour scheme. I personally would never work with red on the pattern in any form as it gives me migraines, and pick two colours which are gentle and soothing of the eyes.
The colouring in of the pricking is just to remind you and help identify which areas pinholes belong to, which is really helpful when the work is fine and pinholes in ground might be very close to cloth or half stitch areas. Bedfordshire is not as regimented as something like Flanders, where you MUST do things are specific areas and pins.
Experiment with colours and see how well you can understand the coloured in pattern. Hope that helps.

Thank you, Louise, that makes good sense. I will try using pale pink, pale mauve/blue and pale green. So far I have used colour pencils and then clear contact plastic over that, which seems to work well
