I have a Colt 1911 100 year Anniversary in .38 Super. Perfect reproduction of the original 1929 model. Extremely accurate and I love it. Anyone who has ever fired a .38 Super with cartridges loaded up to there potential knows how potent this weapon really is. Its practically a .357 Mag with bullets 130gr or less. Its extremely accurate and reliable as well. The only down side is availibility of ammo but regardless of that I love it. That is a beautiful pistol you have there.
I just picked up one of these a couple days ago. It's a gorgeous gun, but like you say, it's a total fingerprint magnet, and just handling it and laying it down different places, as gentle as you try to be it gets fine scratches. I just ordered 2 tubes of Flitz and a couple jewelers cloths, haha, I know I'm gonna need them. But I still love this gun, you just have to know there WILL be scratches!

I don't know if I'll ever bring myself to fire it. I may on her birthday after she passes. Not everything has to be pragmatic. Absolutely beautiful.

Awesome pistol pretty much a colt 1911 in bright stainless is my favorite handgun there is. This exact gun I could have bought with 100 year roll mark but I got the .45 SS series 70 with 100 year rollmark instead just because I don't already own a 1911 and wanted to shoot it a lot. it was 400 more for the .38 super I was so tempted. I have even thought about paying the 450 for colt to polish it but ill wait and get a bright stainless in the future. Nothing like shooting a 1911 I love it.
Colt did make an identical model in .45 ACP, for those would prefer that chambering, but it was never in the catalog like the Super, and may have been a limited edition commissioned by one of their big distributors.
this is a beautiful piece. good investment if I had this I would get some nice engraving on it . and I would keep it on my side. awesome pistol brother.
Question ... i got the same gun but the letters on the right hand side like the codes are al black as in if it was durty the lines parallel lines were the same dark or durty . Never fired the gun never handled more than two times did i pay full price for an use gun???the letters on your gun look pollish or silver mibe are black i did clean some parallel lines on the gun but theres still some black thing . Also u say it comes with a clip same as the gun stain steal what ever mine came with two clips none polish... so please tellme i have been taken to the f m cleaners???? Paid 1500 for wha i asume was new..... i like the gun but something or all arrows point at been used beforehand. Confused!
I went on Gunbroker and saw 1 that was bright stainless with the serial number and the Colt Manufacturing Co in black but with all other inscriptions polished. Colt is constantly putting out variations of the same gun. Mine has all engravings polished plus the magazine buttplates are polished like the gun. jr

I haven't shot her yet, but I'm looking for a nice pair of either ivory or pearl Colt grips to complete the package. I will say that I couldn't just get this gun and not get to shoot it so I picked up the RIA Nickel so I can polish it and take her to the range in the place of the Colt. @@juanriv01 yeah even at 1400 it was still pricey and only one mag, but are they ever beautiful. Initially I was going to dress it up a bit but the more I look at it, the less I want to do that.

To be honest when I was 19 I'm 32 now my cousin sold me a 38 super for 300 bucks neither he or me new what we had until my friends dad saw it and offered me 1,000 for it with a back story on the gun by that time glock was very popular so I sold it and bought a glock. To this day I regret it I always think of that pearl handle and that hair trigger with the chrome clip I wish I never sold it

Beautiful 1911. I suggest you to not sell that beauty. It's very rare to see one as nice as that. I feel like that gun will only go up in price with a finish as nice as that, and specially because it's a colt. I imagine you paid a pretty penny for that piece. Great Buy
Dark Torch I would be very careful not to use any abrasive polish on the rifle. Henry recommends that you use a clean cloth to wipe it down. There isn't much you can do. The brass color parts are clear coated and will be damaged if chemicals or abrasives are used. Hope this helps, jr
Try renaissance wax, i use it on my deep blue shinny guns and love it, no more fingerprints or anything and if something get on it just wipe ir off and looks like new again. Theres some videos os people using that wax on guns.
You're right great round, the only bad thing is that it's not a readily available round, however it does what it has to and it's fun to shoot. I really like you're gun. Do you mind me asking you how much you paid for the gun? I want to buy one my self.
Hi James, if you use this pistol a lot the high polish stainless will attract scratches like crazy. I've used the Cape Cod polishing cloths with success. I would be careful with how much pressure you use. Microfiber to wipe off excess chemical. As with any metal polish, I would try a small area first before diving into a large one. Hope this helps, jr

Speed handling... They are both sup up 9mm component flat shooting but speak wise for my target needs 357 Sig edge out 38 Super. Both are rare, 38 Super in 1911 chassis mostly a beauty no doubt.
This model doesn't have the normal markings except the Custom writing on the slide, the ELCEN on the serial number that can be plainly seen, and Colt Manufacturing Company inscribed beside the serial number.

Bought mine in 1998 and still love it. Going to get an El Paso Saddlery Patton rig for it eventually.

Polished stainless steel is actually the easiest to take care of and most resilient finish you could possibly have on a pistol.

Just got one of these guys brand new at the local Sportsmans warehouse yesterday. Only 1 in 600 stores to receive one. I couldn't pass it up.

Colt's not a bad choice. Kept well, they hold their value.
These go between $1,100-1,275. The best thing is to keep looking on Gunbroker, they come up from time to time.

Its a great gun and caliber I prefer over 9 mm the ammo manufactered for 38 super has less variety than 9mm but is enough for this gun
