As a small TH-camr that covers above ground pools… I more than approve of this deck. Holy cow it’s going to look like a freakin resort when you’re finished. Nice job brother. Giving me lots of ideas for my pool.
Using 120v string lights above a pool is prohibited by many municipal codes due to the possibility the wire could fall into the water and electrocute everyone (GFIs can become defective over time). But low-voltage lighting would be fine. However, if you are going to be skimming leaves or brushing the vinyl with a long aluminum pole, the overhead wires may frequently get in the way of your pole.
If your looking for a good way in and out of the pool, I suggest a dock ladder that can mount to the deck instead of some stair thing that sits on the floor of the pool. We built a deck along the side of our pool and put in a Techstar 5 step flip up ladder that has been absolutely perfect.
@FantasticHunter its been up for since 22. Hasn't faded, plus it gets a 10 year warranty. Pain in the butt to install but once its in. It ain't goin anywhere
I used to build patio covers like that we would rip 2x6 at a 22 and screw them with the angle down spread them every 4 to 6 inches it gives you more shade for the same weight and looks a little fancier
I have done tons of fences GC in florida. But suggestion I always pour my fence posts dry and level then pack the dirt back on top, ground moisture hardens up the concrete. Easier to set level and stay level when the concrete is dry. Just a suggestion.
Nice work. My Grandpa and Dad were old-school carpenters, and I'm sure they would have loved your work. I'm a cabinet builder by trade, one who it sometimes too picky when it comes to the visual side of building anything, but sometimes the extra effort pays off. Do what makes you happy on your own projects, you're the customer in this case.... A business is all about the customer being satisfied......
Have you thought about using corrugated roofing for the shade? I know it's not the prettiest choice but you don't have to buy that much and it's pretty light weigh compared to all that wood
8:00 💪😎👍 GREAT CHOICE!!! It would have bugged you forever. The pool can always be drained and moved, or may even be replaced in the future. Having the deck squared out was the right choice.
Thank you for clarifying the screw holding weight. I was asking on the last video about the weight being held by just some screws. I always thought some kind of joist hanger was required to hold all that up. I am NOT a deck builder or a framer, so I have no idea.
10 foot, 4" fence slats across the back of the pergola would look amazing. It would also help with your lateral movement, give you shade and somewhere to put a huge TV for game nights!
Run a brace to the back of the pergolas as well maybe. Like the 45 you put on the front side do a small one on the back side of it might also help support the weight over the pool
You could run cable angled from the ground to the uprights and all the way across back to the ground. That would strengthen the uprights plus your lights and some shade triangles could go on there.
Ryno I've had the same problems with pressure treated twisting and drying up in my backyard. Try to keep it wet if you can hose it down. I had a sixteen foot two by six turned into an s shape
If your cantilever sags too much, add some cables on the back side that anchor from the top of the arbor post to the post below the deck that are anchored in concrete with a backwards "arm" similar to an electric pole or grain bin transfer pipes.
One way to counter the stress from the overhang would be running a cable from the back of the pergola posts to the ground behind. Just put an eye lag in up top and get some aircraft cabling to a cork screw anchor less than $50 at HD. I have the same set up holding the trampoline down in our back yard. We’ve had storm winds pushing 85 mph lately and it’s solid.
I checked with OSHA and as long as you're using a cordless drill it's okay to stand in the pool while you're putting the boards on the edge of the deck.
How about a new attachment for your new tractor...a PTO operated CEMENT MIXER ? you can drive with the mixer turning if to far from water . Thought of a POOL COVER as the sun and wind will take that pool water without you even looking !
No friends in the lumber industry??? Consider me the first. I manage the plant for a company that pressure treats lumber. I would have loved to haul some over and help! Nebraska isnt too far of a drive!!!
This is NOT a slam, I honestly think it looks good, it just seems like an awful lot of work for a temp or portable pool. If you had to replace the pool, would it be possible without too much hassle?
20:30 - "... Peacock's got her own stainless steel dish ..." - he says pointing at a peacock with a huge colourful tail fan and colourful plumage - That is a male Peacock and not a Peahen!!
Now you have a fence around the house the fire break your animals will naturally make along it into summer will be a great addition to the distance the embers have to go before burning your house and a clear road alongside the outside of your property you can Slash and drive along with the fire fighter will probably help the boundary fencing from burning again the little tractor u have probably can handle it if you can get permission ✌️ then next time don't have to panic and you let the fire help the regrowth
Install a ladder that doesn't touch the bottom of the pool so it (a) won't destroy your liner and (b) won't block your liner-safe robotic pool cleaner.
Hey Ryan, have you considered using "sun sails", the prices have gone down over the years, they'd be light weight stop 50% of the direct sun light extending the life of the pool liner and reducing the evaporation. Additionally we use them for nearly all our east county and north county ponds for the same reasons, reduced Evap. & sunlight and to stop predatory birds from lurking on the Fish. In your use it would keep Drones and Creepy Gov. satellites from watching you skinny dipping :P
@@DMAXRYNO oh I gotchu haha. Ever thought about creating a pond on the property? I’m new to your channel so I don’t know much about what you have and what you have plans for.
Looking damn, good brother. If you're not careful with your ideas, you're going to reach the in ground pool price range 😊. Hey screw it, go all out, and if it is $75K, it's still cheaper than the in ground 😂😂😂 Seriously it looks freaking awesome. I really miss my pool on these hot Texas days😢

I love these ranch projects. Please never stop showing them!
Pool anyone
You have convinced me that an above ground pool with a wrap around deck can look great.
Ryan is a GrandMaster he can make you want anything

Definitely one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. I’m not into the episodes involving trucks, but love the ranch episodes.
Best of both worlds is what he brings for sure

How long have you used the ladder? Any issues fading in the sun?

Pool is turning out super sick 🔥🔥🔥

Put a small bench underneath, maybe 24 inch seat height. That would stiffen it up and some seating? Maybe a small storage box for things? Looks good!
8:00 💪😎👍 GREAT CHOICE!!!

Binged watch up to part 5. I'm emotionally invested in this project now! 😂 Can't wait to see the finished product.
You should use those triangle shade sails. Would be super easy to install and add shade anywhere
If mounted properly, those things need a lot of support
A "Work for it" Speedo. I'd buy it.
put a screw in the top of your sub fascia 2x8 and use a nail bar to pry it up if its not flush with the top of your joist
A small peice of paper towel shoved into the 1/4 inch socket with the bit can save you a lot of time I’ve found! Holds it well and pulls out easy 😋
This is turning out freakin awesome !
Always majorly saving my life motivational to me..... Salute , blessings to everyone grind and motivations.....
Great video glad you guys shared 🎉

On the top of the canopy do a bunch of 2x2 with like a 1 or 2 in spacing. Not as heavy and should give you more shade
Love the ranch videos
Can always put some lattice up top to add shade and wouldn't really notice it unless you were under it
What are you doing for pool covering since you mentioned the 100mph winds

Been waiting on this one all weekend. Always worth it.
The instagram home depot rant vids were so good 😭🤣
Did you remember to put a c-clamp on the palate when you put it on the forklift to make it a little more secure ?
How about a new attachment for your new tractor...a PTO operated CEMENT MIXER ? you can drive with the mixer turning if to far from water . Thought of a POOL COVER as the sun and wind will take that pool water without you even looking !
The word of the day is cantilever
Use the 2x4 and in stead of 2x3 use lattice
Even without the deck boards finished, it's already looking like an inground pool ! 👍
Love your video's and you guys work. That being said, your building a 20 year deck around a 4 or 5 year pool?
U seem pretty dam savvy doing wat u do always watching anyway saying hellllooooo from the middle of Kansas peace....
No friends in the lumber industry??? Consider me the first. I manage the plant for a company that pressure treats lumber. I would have loved to haul some over and help! Nebraska isnt too far of a drive!!!
Going for full shade is the better way to go
Proud of you Ryan #workforit
with all those grks and the weight rating, chris should have no problem binging over his bbw's
Maybe cover the pergola with fancy Lattice?
This is NOT a slam, I honestly think it looks good, it just seems like an awful lot of work for a temp or portable pool. If you had to replace the pool, would it be possible without too much hassle?
not sure if you've answered this, but what happened to the knew driveway project? Lovin the vids man!
Use 1x2 with a fabric cover
The pergola is going to look nice !
Should do one on the other side too to block the afternoon sun!
Maybe a bench to tie shade to deck should help it stiffing it up ?
From 18:59 to 19:14
Thanksgiving dinner walks past . . .
And again from 20:28 to 20:42
Looking delicious . .
What about a shade sail?
Another good video
But... which way is the sun traveling in relation to the pool?
Isn't it lengthwise?
If so, you are not going to get much shade.
Hang some flowerpots or something on the backside over hang. Give you a little more weight on the back side
looks fantastic well done
Why not use some type of mesh, fake leaves, or bamboo instead of wood for the shade? It would save weight and provide way more shade.
Good stuff
Love how one of the donkeys was rolling around in the back ground 😂😂
1x4 on top of you 2x4. You’ll get plenty of shade .
20:30 - "... Peacock's got her own stainless steel dish ..." - he says pointing at a peacock with a huge colourful tail fan and colourful plumage - That is a male Peacock and not a Peahen!!
Put lattice over the top
Oshawa approved pallet lift Ryan. Nice job. 🤪
That's looking good, any chance I can come to the opening pool party. Haha just messing. However you are giving me good ideas
Maybe add a metal strip, 1/4” thick and screw it to the 4 x 4” 🤷♂️ not a framer myself. Lol.
How are the In-In-Out trees doing?
have a heavier beam on the back to counteract some of the weight
set those concreate post would have been easier if you had the fire truck at the ranch
How’s Dave
That's going to be one the most coolest pool decks to party on I ever seen! Keep up the awesome work!
Do you have any kids for them to enjoy the pool
I’m guessing the Hercules tools couldn’t candle this big of a good job. 😂😂
Do single post benches out of trucks on the edges of your deck
Yor de man
Let's goo
@26:35 "But you know what? Aint nobody standing up here...."
Challenge accepted - Detig
How come u dont use 1x6
Now all you need to do is make an ornate sign that says Rhino Ranch Grotto
Now you have a fence around the house the fire break your animals will naturally make along it into summer will be a great addition to the distance the embers have to go before burning your house and a clear road alongside the outside of your property you can Slash and drive along with the fire fighter will probably help the boundary fencing from burning again the little tractor u have probably can handle it if you can get permission ✌️ then next time don't have to panic and you let the fire help the regrowth

I may have missed it, but what in this video is a huge help for wildfires?
15,000 gallons of available water

I would have done the same keep it straight
I see the wilwakee drill where's the harbor freight on 😂😅
Ryno, I think you should... hahaha, build it your way!
🤙
I'm no genius but doesn't a magnet work better to find a bit than a metal detector? 🤷
Thanks for the ideas. Just gotta make sure the wife doesn't see these episodes 😂

Next time, just use a old car or house speaker and you'll find stuff quick!!
I buy a fair amount of lumber at Home Depot. You need to cherry pick everything else you can end up with some real crappy pieces of wood. 🙂
Shouldn’t be this early😂
This is why Dave spends 3 days drafting it up on the computer first

Hole depot be on that other shiiiii
I started taking a shot everytime he said canaleaver (not sure if thats how its spelled) now im drunk
