This album is absolutely incredible! It always seemed to me that this is when they stepped into a new realm, although they did actually get to use 16 trks which they hadn’t had that kind of production. If you don’t have this in your album collection, what are you waiting for?! I personally feel a lot of mixed emotions, though all are great, some heavy/deeper than others. This album has actually made me choke up on more occasions than I can count, but it's always followed by a comforting warmth! These are tears of joy, a tear that could change your life if you let it! Uncle Bob is a genius when it comes to writing a song, he comes in, drops a canvas of psychedelic beauty and then he’s done! 2-3 minuets and he wraps it, he did all he needed to do, if he drug anything out anymore the song would be annoying instead you want to hear it again wishing it were longer but at the same time you’re glad it’s not! Most Prolific Songwriter Ever To Exist. No one will ever even come close to matching, let alone surpass his catalog of music! L8R
I would have never thought when I discovered Under The Bushes it would impact me in the way it did and slowly but surely become my favorite album. To Remake the Young Flyer always gets me, s/o Tobin.
@@travisjones9933 Oh no Travis.... I never overlook Toby.... I love Toby, IMO he and his guitar were the driving force behind this album in particular!
Some of the best lyrics ever. Event he music perfectly captures those days that drag. then the guitars get a bit more excited "we escape them sometimes". Finally Rob assures us with a break in the music "they will turn around"
Me too and for me its the way he says "fidgety hearts" (which is one of the best descriptions of humans ever). He kinda sticks on the "f" as if he is disapointed in how fidgety those hearts are and struggles to say it
Damn, I really enjoy these comment sections on certain era '95 - '98 GbV videos. _Meet My Team,_ indeed! I'm so fortunate to have been able to catch 'em play live a handfull of shows during / around this time frame.
Dude (or Dudette): Cheers, Skaal, L'Chaim, and all that other groovy shite! Can't ever get enough of the "ol" GBV sound. Too much of their more recent stuff is ezy listening GBV and that is not what we were sold on with Sprout, Gillard, et al. The experimental stuff is what made it happen ... Maybe I don't listen to enough of their recent shit but I'll at least leave the door open if they do get back to it. Vampire on Titus is really kicking it in my head these days. Good to hear from you. Thanks.

I'm happy for you, they're incredible!
Enjoy the ride!
got more than 100 Pollard records to check on ;)
I'm about 1 year in...no lookin back that's for sure.
I'm 9 months in and GBV has replaced most of the other bands I had been listening to non-stop as number one. This group's almost too good to be true.
Guided By Voices in general, and this song in particular, give me hope and another reason to live. Thanks, guys!
Yea, this music helped me out in the latter part of my teens.
I could not agree more

Adrian T Smith don’t overlook Tobin’s absolutely crucial contributions to this album especially
Let’s not forget Tobins contributions to all of the GBV albums he’s on. ;)

Sprout's vox when mixed with Bob is heavenly and I personally always want to here more! VOT gives you a lot of Sprout also.... at least in my opinion!

I always play that "We escape them sometimes" part over and over

Yeah!
thats what i call a video
Reminds me of an R.E.M. video.
The right reverb
When he hits those low notes on "we have come to drag days", its straight out of Michael Stipe's playbook
Does anyone else hear echoes of the Go-Betweens in this one?
MrMungaf liberty belle era
I'm getting REM.
Yes. Holy sh#t!
Great song and wonderful video. Where's the footage taken from?
Dayton, always Dayton.
Yes, and you specifically mean the final chorus at 2:14.

This song has a very similar intro to that of "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out".
video playback fer sure. .
jesus christ!
love the song, but the video gave me a seizure.
room1106 what kind?
I was making a "best of" compilation of GBV, and more songs came from UtBUtS than any other album. And that's really saying something.
