The yellow recycling bins go to a special depot where the contents are sorted so we don't need fifty types of bin. That's odd every time I go to the supermarket they ask do you have bags. Sheets a bedding is called Manchester because all of our sheets and bedding used to be imported from English mills in Manchester and was labelled as made in Manchester hence the name. The word Doona is from the Norwegian word 'Dyne' and was popularised by the large northern European population in Australia.
People just start the nights earlier. It’s actually better once you get used to it. People start pre drinking and partying after or during dinner with friends.
I used to live near Los Angeles, California.....tons to do there. What are some of your main recommendations for things to do in Sydney? When I lived near Los Angeles, I found that the population was so large that I had to reserve things like camping months in advance. I thought that was crazy, but the population is so big. Is it competitive like that in Sydney? Btw, the Manchester thing that you mentioned (the bedsheets) that is so randomly hilarious, omg
The population in Sydney is much smaller than LA, so no need to reserve things months in advance etc. Things to do: sailing/boating, beach, walks/hikes in the National Parks, Blue Mountains day trip, museums, theatre, concerts, amazing restaurants and brunch spots, there's also a little theme park called Luna Park if that's your thing.
there is a reason for those bar laws. groups of young men would go from bar to bar getting drunker as they went , then individuals were attacked by these drunks and several were killed by these thugs who would attack some unsuspecting person. thats why.
Surprising re the recycle comment, love to know where in Sydney you are? it must be the last place without Yellow, red and green bins. We have had them for years now.
Hii!! I have qns about moving to aus!!! Im in the process of planning to move to aus but I have a lot of doubt. Firstly, I’m so thankful I finally found your channel because I’m in the same media industry as you. Is it difficult getting a sponsored job in the media industry? Will they really sponsor me??? Also, is the work holiday visa the best visa to look for job in aus? Will it be hard if I come with a holiday visa to look for job??
Its wet and cold in Sydney. People ought know this. Shame. Shame. Pity it doesn't have a warm lovely Mediterranean climate like Perth. Oh! What a damn shame.
I'd hope so. Then again, when I was in Sydney, I noticed that the Sydney born population seem to be in denial that they get any cold weather and they'd complain about being cold int he middle of winter, when dressed in summer weight clothes, without wearing a coat. I suggested one young woman get some thermal underwear (there is some that's light and nice available) and she said she couldn't do that and kept complaining about the cold. I got a coat from my place in Victoria and was quite comfortable.
Yeh, but I personally don't feel comfortable having heaters and think they can be quite dangerous. Also Sydney houses are so poorly insulated all the heat would disappear through the single glazed windows anyway!
ahah WHAT manchester, I'm australian and I've never heard anyone call sheets and bedding manchester, I'm pretty sure thats just a brand of bedding but thats so funny ur reaction to that was the same as mine
Hahaha, I swear I've seen it in stores before being listed as 'Manchester', and it's always thrown me! Like in Myer and David Jones etc. According to the Wikipedia page it's called Manchester in Aus, NZ, and SA haha! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedding
It rains quite a lot is Sydney?? I think your using words too loosely. You mean it CAN rain a lot. How bout going winters at a time with no rain , like in 2018. Occasionally (sometimes, or very rarely) it can pour and rain for days or over a week. That's not quite a lot. You also said summer is quite wet in Sydney?! Omg, ur so wrong. Let me just say that sydeny does not have a wet or dry season; sometimes its wetter in winter and sometimes it's wetter in summer.
During the 18 months I lived in Sydney it rained a lot more than when I lived in Perth. I was shocked at how much it rained, and so were all of my expat friends! I never said Sydney has a wet and dry season.
Hi Dave, if you watch my other videos you'll find out that I also lived in Perth. If you read my blog, you'll also see that I've travelled through a huge amount of Australia (particularly WA). This is just one video to specifically help people who are looking to move to Sydney.
Your point of view is so helpful. Thank you so much! We need to know the pain points. Homerun girl!
Ummmm....we do recycle here. Yellow, red and green bins plus council drop-offs for electrical items. I don't know which Sydney you live in.
Apparently near Bondi Junction - what do you expect?

Thank you so much! We certainly do haha!
How can you compare the temperature between Sydney and Perth ! It's a big continent off course Perth is a warmer climate 😄

Winter in Sydney is also much colder! I remember getting sick when I travelled here in winter from Perth
I agree, winter in Sydney was SO cold! I couldn't believe I had to wear my scarf and gloves!
There's more to Australia than Sydney.
