they've been keeping it alive with new cartoons and movies
They are installed in pop culture for generations like, Hulk Hogan, Michael Jackson, weather you like the source of entertainment they come from you know who they are or you heard it somewhere.

It's awesome that April's actually fighting in this. In the 80's cartoon she didn't fight she was just the stereo-type damsel for the Turtles to save weekly.
One thing I'm glad of is most recent iterations of TMNT have April fight and even become a decent Ninja in her own right...the 2012 TMNT CGI cartoon even had April outright be trained by Splinter himself and she joined their family clan.
This game should be really sweet.
She really wasn't the stereo-tyle damsel, did you watch the show?
To be fair, while she couldn't fight, she rescued the Turtles almost as much as the Turtles rescued her. There's lots of episodes where the Turtles fall for a trap by the villains, and then April has to release the Turtles out of their predicament. Also she could pilot helicopters and she usually did the detective work for the Turtles.
Wow the Art style is Amazing. Looks just like turtles in time. Brings back memories.

Streets of rage 4 has a more modern look to it than this game tho

April's moveset came right out of Street Fighter Alpha 3. Not to mention, she got cake. The devs understand the greatness of the 80s April.
Always wanted to see classic April eventually learn to take care of herself, this is the closest to that.

I'm loving this era of BADASS April. Like what we saw in TMNT/PR (being Kimberly's substitute as the Pink Ranger), and not long after, she's revealed to be playable in that Nickelodeon fighter.
@Brian Peterson look up Nickelodeon Allstar Brawl it’s like Smash Bros Melee but with Nick toons instead.

This is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that we all wanted.
These animations look so smooth.
Its Paul Robertson, pretty much the best pixel artist in the world IMO. He has lots of stuff on TH-cam. He also did the Scott Pilgrim games graphics.
Better and superior to the disappointing SOR4 for sure , It looks faithful and authentic as hell , This is amazing indeed , Well done tribute studio 👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻

Most of April's animations are referenced from Street Fighter Alpha 3. Not just attack, but her even her walking animation.

April got some capcom (SF) moves/animations i've noticed. Cammy's walking animation, Chun-Li's Tenshoukyaku @0:14, and R.Mika's Flying Peach attack @0:25...nice! 👍🔥

Feels like I’m a kid again playing this in a parallel universe.
This can be more of a tribute to Archie Comics, the 2003 and 2012 series where April was trained to fight rather than being a mere damsel in distress. The Archie comics version was actually based off the original 1987 series originally before it went on a different path.
0:50 April took notes from R.Mika and her Flying Peach move.
They give April a lot of moves from Street Fighter, like Chun-Li, Karen and R.Mika
Where was THIS April in the 1987 cartoon when it needed her?
She hadn’t had enough of the Foot yet.
This will undoubtably be the greatest TMNT game ever released.
But Splinter & April will not be available as playable characters at the start of the game…
They only become unlockable after the turtles rescue them from the level bosses which kidnapped them (bebop, rocksteady, etc)
Casey will be unlockable even further into the levels, but not by rescuing him… via another method of gameplay.
Also there will be several levels which scroll from right to left.
Several levels featuring gameplay centered around hoverboards and a high speed chase in the van.
And another surprise level with even more interesting and unexpected gameplay mechanics.
This is going to be way bigger than many of the older pessimists imagine.

Dotemu has nothing to do with the game , They published it only , It’s tribute studio who made this game and I’m so glad they did instead of Dotemu because SOR4 is extremely disappointing to me ,,, Well done tribute studio ,, 👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻

It's so weird seeing April fighting when she was always the damsel in distress in the old cartoons.
She wasn't always like that. She saved the Turtles plenty of time. An some of the time in the show it was using her brains. An other in the comics it was her body. She was only captured like 4 times. The other times she saved herself and others an STILL got the story.
None of these peeps watched the show it seems

Ironically, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird came up with this franchise on the idea that it was to be totally ridiculous. There's many franchises that stand the test of time, but this one, is solid as a rock. Turtle Power!
