Quad products were and are still among the top audio gear made in Britain. I myself bought Quad 405, 303 and 33, 34 on ebay with prices below $400. One more remark: The original brands reflected the aesthetics and preferences of the original company founders (J.P Walker in the case of Quad). Today, most brands were bought up by international companies who use the brands only as a marketing tool. The original magic is gone. Today, production is mostly in China. HiFi has lost some of its original appeal. Portable music, streaming online have taken over. In the past, we had more time to listen to music. Today, that time is lost to phones, TV, online browsing etc. Thank you for the detailed history of British amplifier manufacturers. It is all very interesting and valuable information.
I have a Sugdan P51 c51 control + power amp ,got 1975 ,had power supply caps replaced n the 90s .It powers a pair of Kef r7 speakers ,wow what superb sound quality ,cd or vinyl .
I thought NAD was a Canadian company. I may be misinformed. I’m on board with your other picks. Happy to see Creek make the list. They are still turning out great gear.
well i pass my life testing new equipment as it comes out and it´s rare to see even a expensive set of components achieve 70´s quality all has been decreasing with the years , the new turntables and cartridges are snake oil so the further you go to the past the better sounding components you have ,if refering to turntables one spends 14.000€ in a Pro-Ject top end model and a really expensive cartyridge that makes the 14.000€ to match average 70´s quality and the stylus only last a few hours, reduce costs and increase prices that´s evolution in todays world and i´ve bought a real expensive system that ended up buying a P10 from Rega turntable but none of the three cartridges were aceptable for the price so i kept the Alpheta 3 to instal in a PL-518 from pioneer released in 79, i think and bought a good sounding Hana Umami Red, as i get them cheap that sounds good but not the best i have, like NAD when called New Acoustic Dimention had a good sound as all brands sounded good only prices made the diference and extra functions, once i heard that cambridge audio as a very good brand ,the guy who told me that is always saying, how can i have better sound well it´seems cambridge Audio is like for kids from 11 to 14 not for Men or any other Genre when adult, not to hurt the sensibility of others about sensibilitie , this new very good tiny speakers that sound good but only if you have a listening room and what is that sensetivety 89 or 87 DB all speakers i had were 100DB up and aren´t all the best i have, and as powerfull as big boxy speakers . So , now are coming up like mushrooms old models from good brands and boxy , whell they are for old with dementia persons who don´t like tiny speakers that produce 200 watts real ones not some scale found to say they have that power but if conected to a old amplifier with the same power one can´t pass 1/4 of the potenciometer so they don´t blow up and i have them litle speakers but those are good, i when buying them had a period of 6 monthes to try several
The Mission Cyrus Two is inferior to the Naim Nait? The Cyrus 2 is more capable when it comes to driving difficult loads, with its fifty watts per channel vs the Naim Nait's eight watts per channel. The Cyrus two is a more dynamic sounding amp and its detail retrieval is remarkable - it will reveal every detail a recording has to offer, warts 'n' all! The Cyrus Two outperforms the Naim Nait by a considerable margin, and that's before the Cyrus Two deploys its "secret weapon"... the PSX Power Supply. The Cyrus Two/PSX combo takes the Mission amp into the realms of esoteric pre-power amplification. Underpriced and undervalued - the Cyrus Two is a legendary amplifier... get the later issuer flip-switch version and listen to it outperform some of today's very expensive amplifiers - no names, no pack drill!

Quad 33/303 should've got a mention too? Also the Leak Stereo 20. The Cyrus Two with PSX is very good.
@@oilyrag525 thanks for your comment. Need to create one more video:))
The trouble with those two amps, is that the second-hand market for them is crazy, as they demand high prices; especially from dealers. Russ. UK

No mention of QUAD ? one of the best
You are right! It deserves a separate video!
I’ve got a Linx Nebula with the legendary 2SJ50/2SK135 MOSFET transistors. Was made in NZ but Wharfedale took over the production as I’ve understood.
Nytech is a very simple amp/pre amp high end combination at the lowest s/h prices. Almost forgotten.
Leak should also be on this list.
@@simonzinc-trumpetharris852 you are right

NAD was founded in London in 1972, like everything British it has now moved abroad.
The founder was American but started the company in London.
The AI bot hasn't quite mastered Naim, has it. Why not get a human as opposed to using something that can't even punctuate?
The best of the best.

You are English so why do you price in dollars and not pounds ?
I am not English :)
