    When I started collecting I used existing German force that I used in bolt action, and just added special units like Totenkorps, nachtjager, nachtalben, shreckwhulfen, I didn't really bother with a mech until later on but obviously if you were starting from scratch a starter box is the best option 👍

    • @attentionspanlabs

      Yes, I should have pointed out that if you already have a Bolt Action force, it is terribly easy to get playing Konflikt '47 with just a small handful of purchases.
      Nachtalben are a really interesting unit. One of only three or four Elite units in the game (the others being the US Paragons, IIRC).

      Hmmm, not a bad idea there.
      I've been thinking about getting either Konflikt '47 or Gates of Antares line figures.
      I've heard that German plastic kits can be easily converted into Finns with Soviet weapon sprues, what in turn makes it very interesting for having an army built what can be used in both historical Bolt Action game and Konflikt '47 by adding a German mech or captured Soviet tank.

      @@attentionspanlabs I know this isn't related exactly, but I was curious if you'd heard about antimatter games and their game DeepWars? It's a 28mm mainly metal undersea steampunk-scifi game, and I bought a lot of their stuff just because I get models from any brand if I like the sculpts, but I was a bit curious about the game itself. I can't find ANYBODY talking about it or playing it, and wanted to know if it would interest you, and if so if you'd cover it?

    Can you do a tactics series on Konflikt ‘47? I’ve seen ones for Bolt Action but not k47. Love the lore for the game by the way and im thinking about building a joint US Army and USMC force with a few Soviet and German defectors (sort of a narrative-driven army). Yes, I'm greatly abashed because I made these videos back when warlord games miniature line was relatively cheap. There have been at least two and I think three significant price increases since then.

    Worth saying machine gun teams are terrible in bolt action, generally worse value for point than standard infantry (50point MMG team is 5 infantry models, so the MMG has slightly longer range, but fewer wounds, can easily be taken out by a sniper and can't move an shoot for the same points and shots) don't put MMGs in your force unless you litterally have nothing else you can put in for 50 points.
    Also you can make officers from the standard infantry sprews, they're designed for that.

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that machine guns are nerfed. 3 shots for an HMG, even with a +1 PEN, isn't worth it. 4/5 shots for an LMG/MMG (or 5/6 if you're German) is better value, but even then it's not enough. The sample "suppression fire" rules they came up with are weak, too. First, they only work with MMGs or a squad with two(!) LMGs -- and most squads cannot take two LMGs in the first place -- next, they impose an additional 'to-hit-' penalty just to get the chance for one extra Pin.
      I just played against a Japanese army the other day and his 10 men with compression rifles (3 shots each, -1 PEN) wiped out half of my infantry squad with LMG *in hard cover* in one volley. That's almost like having a whole squad with LMGs.
      Actually, in K47 the German and Jap special weapons are way overpowered, or at least far superior to the Tesla, which has a much shorter range, less penetration against infantry, and is much less likely to hit. But that's another story.

    So where are the rules for the individual units of factions found? I haven't played Bolt Action, but would like to start Konflikt. Are the carry over models from Bolt Action found in the faction books for Bolt Action? So do I need to get that to field those models? Where are the rules for the New models such as walkekrs? In the new core book that comes in an A5 form in the starter boxes?

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The core book has the basic army lists for Germany, UK/Commonwealth, USA, and the Soviets. If you want the army lists for the Finns, Japanese, or Italians, they are in separate books. These include many "late war" standard Bolt Action units as well. Of course, you can always use the other Bolt Action units that are listed in the army books such as "Armies of the United States" etc...

    I’m just looking at the store and I’m trying to figure out how Italy is viable with only infantry from the konflict side, is there an ally system or are their normal units good enough?!

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember you can use all the vehicles and arty from Bolt Action, too. Both Italian factions are further equipped by the Germans and Americans/British respectively. Also, unless you were playing a tank war game, you are generally not going to have too many vehicles or artillery pieces on the table.

  • @alexfietta
    @alexfietta 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What do you think is the best faction to start with?

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Obviously, I prefer the Americans. This is mostly because I think they have the best mechs (I hate mechs with spade-shaped feet, which all of the Germans except for the Locust have).
      Germans have the best looking (and best equipped, since they have models with LMGs and Panzerschreck) powered armor heavy infantry, plus the Schreckwulfen and Nachtjaegers. They also have a King Tiger X with a rail gun that is almost guaranteed to knock down buildings in one shot. If you like painting camouflage, pick Germany.
      Japan has very characterful models and powerful exo-skeleton infantry (they are not Resilient, but Tough and Fast), but are weak in the tank/mech department. Compression rifles with their three shots are very effective against regular infantry, even with the -1 PEN, but useless against vehicles and Resilient infantry.
      Both Italian states have fantastic looking armored infantry. They are weak in terms of vehicles and their nation-specific rules are only ambiguously useful. There is no starter set for them, though.
      Finland has great Ski troops, plus you can have a lot of German equipment, including werewolves and vampires. They are always going to be a primarily infantry force, though.
      British Commonwealth can use a lot of American equipment, plus the Automatons which are really cool looking, but I'm not sure how effective they are in battle. They have big plusses and minues and are one of the more conceptually interesting units in the game. Australians and Gurkhas look very cool.
      Russia is the army whose look I like the least, except for the Cherno Alpha style heavy infantry and the Ursus werebears. If you like hordes of infantry, this is for you, since they get a free Inexperienced squad in every formation.

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will note that if I was painting a camouflage heavy army, like Germany or Finland, it would have taken me a lot longer to get my force ready. Take that into consideration.

      @alexfietta 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@attentionspanlabs I see, thank you. Don't know the rules, but can you combine armies? Like bring an american army and a detachment of loyalist italian power armour infantry?

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are no specific rules about how to utilize allies, but of course you can do whatever you like with them in your own games. If you are into "approved" tournament style play, the force structures will differ from tourney to tourney, but Warlord does not pass down diktats about what minis you can use or how your armies have to constructed the way GW does.
      Within the game, there is the concept of a reinforced platoon structure. Each faction has several different reinforced platoon structures depending on the branch of the service (i.e. US has a different one for marines, airborne, standard infantry, armored infantry, tank platoons, and a generic one), plus structures for different time periods and theaters. My suggested way to use them would be to construct one US platoon and one Italian Co-Belligerent platoon. You could also just have "captured" enemy vehicles incorporated in your regular unit.

    • @andrewatherton4808
      @andrewatherton4808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't say that there is a best faction to start with as lots of the forces have tons of options, it's the lesser nations that don't get too many options, I'f you already have a bolt action force it's easier to add than start a fresh.
