    Great info for one guy who has done a lot of plumbing over many decades AND never done this sort of an irrigation project. What great instruction.

      Great! I timed how long it takes me to gently file the punch in order for the connector to slip and off easily and it was 20 minutes. The punch used to fit the connectors. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! -mary

    Thank you for your video. Really very practical problem and no video helped me until i found this video. You have given really good tips. Need to find the tool now. Looks like it's not available on Amazon. If you know any alternative that i can find online please let me know. 🙏🏽

      Thank you prasaddxit. You'll really want one of these tools after I file down the punch a little to make sure the connector fits on it smoothly. Otherwise when you try to install the connector with the punch the connecter will get stuck on the punch and you'll never get it off. Please, email me directly through my website thegardeningtutor.com and let's see if I can get one of these to you. -mary

    Hi thank for this Gardening tutor, Im having issues with leaks at some connector point, how do I ensure it doesn't drip?

    • @TheGardeningTutor
      @TheGardeningTutor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so welcome Jon. I need more information from you to be able to answer your question well but here are a few tips: if the connection is between the main dripline and the valve and it is a thread connection white plumbers tape on the threads will help with leaking. If you are using EZ connectors (and not compression fittings, I do not use compression fittings) the connector ends need to be twisted snug to lock it in. Also, whenever you're installing fittings like Y's to hosebibs make sure to use brass fittings instead of plastic. And use plumber's tape. Let me know if this helps. If not please give me more detail. Best-mary

      Hi Elliot, it's best to call them. I have asked them and they told me they will ship to people when they call. Are you in the U.S. ? If you have trouble getting it when you call let me know and I'll see if I can mail you one. I will file it for you first so it fits the connectors. Thank you for watching! -mary

    Can you help me. I am trying to fix my hole in my drip line. I bought that black stretchy stuff, that has no adhesiveness... How the heck do I get it to stay?I am getting very frustrated!! I used a goofplug to fill in the overstretched hole, but it still drizzles. So I took it out and just want to use the black stretchy stuff to fill in the gap. Why won't it stay.. thx

    • @TheGardeningTutor
      @TheGardeningTutor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear your frustration for sure. If the hole cannot be plugged with a goof plug you'll need to cut the line (cutting out the hole part) and insert a straight connect to join the two cut ends together again. If your mainline is 5/8" you can use a 5/8" EZ Connect. That is what I use as compression fittings are impossible for me to have enough strength to use (also, compression fittings can blow off over time).

    I looked at Wyatt Irrigation website and could not find the tong type punches. Please reply anyone who knows where I can purchase a pair. Thanks.

    • @TheGardeningTutor

      Hi Katmeow, Wyatt Irrigation in Santa Rosa carries the punch. I do not know about their website but they do have them in the store. Maybe if you live far away they would help you by phone and send one to you. Remember the punch will need to be gently but firmly filed (not to a point though-it is the sides that need to be filed down to fit the connector not the tip). -mary
