    This is everything i have been looking for in a backpack. Oh my gosh! I have been looking for ages for a clamshell, either top loading and water bottle holders

    I like it. A civilian backpack with the modularity of a tactical rucksack.

    How does one 'lock' the FidLock accessory pouches to prevent someone in the subway or airport from snatching your connected pouches off of your bag without your knowledge?

    • @ZachAgape
      @ZachAgape หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's because they have to be removed in a specific way, so it makes it difficult for someone who doesn't know the exact system to snatch it easily ^^

    @Tropicfeel Please address two potential problems: 1) Looks like the magnetically attached thing could get knocked off in a crowded situation 2) Those handles look like they'd be really uncomfortable carrying a heavy bag for a while. (Other than that, I like it!)

    • @Tropicfeel
      @Tropicfeel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you for your feedback! We can assure you that the Fidlocks keep items securely attached to the backpack and that handles are soft, featuring hiking loops so you can adjust the weight to your body and comfort 🙌

    I have actually decided against the Fidlock pouch at thats the item that makes the backpack not cabin size any more... I feel like its a nice touch but takes up quite a lot of "real estate" without providing that much usable packing volume - like the toiletry bag is nice but it just doesn't make sense for flying as you need to put your liquids in a separate see-trough bag anyway and you cant put that into the toiletry bag, and the liquids are usually that stuff in your toiletries that take up most of the space.
    What would have been great instead, is to have like a front Kangoroo pouch or something to put in my liquids so i can just take out the liquids bag at security without having to open the bag itself, also would be super useful for putting stuff into "on the go" just like the nook backpack also has a open compartment on the top
    - that paired with some straps where you can just attach like a jacket or towel like the waterproof daypack has as an alternative to the fidlock pouches would be so much more useful

      @@WeiFinder Glad you've had no issues! They do technically ask us to have them in a transparent bag we take out from the rest, but of course they might not always notice or be bothered

    At 0:32 you mention the accessories come with the backpack. Is this accurate or are they required to be purchased separately?

    • @Tropicfeel
      @Tropicfeel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, good question! You purchase them separately.

  • @JoseMiguel-nu6zg
    @JoseMiguel-nu6zg ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The only thing keeping me from buying one is how easy it looks to take the fidlock pouches off. It’s too easy of a target for pickpockets

    • @Tropicfeel
      @Tropicfeel  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're not easy to take off, but we do recommend you place your most precious belongings in the hidden pockets in the backpack - since the fidlock pouches are right at the front.

    • @OccupiedMuffins
      @OccupiedMuffins ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So don’t put valuables there’s. Put the toiletries there and keep expensive stuff inside or in the hidden pocket. Or don’t use any fidlock stuff at all

    • @honkwok35
      @honkwok35 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I hv been using the fidlock,they are no easy to “take off”. You need to remove the top two attached buttons in a certain direction before you can remove the bottom two and detach the whole thing. Of coz never put valuables in there just like other backpack front pocket

    • @WeiFinder
      @WeiFinder 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Tropicfeelat 1:13 you say they're easy to take off

    • @ZachAgape
      @ZachAgape หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@WeiFinder I think the point is they're easy when you know how, but a random thief trying to yank it away will fail. As other comments have said: don't put expensive valuables there, just like for any other front pocket. But for other stuff, it's safe enough ^^

    I have this bag and the Nest, and while I like the lightweight feel of the bag when not packed out, the bag is actually super uncomfortable when fully packed out. There’s too much stress on the shoulder straps, and there’s not enough padding on them to comfortably distribute the weight. Plus, the hip “belt” (while a nice touch), isn’t big enough or wide enough to transfer the weight to your hips. This makes it more of a hip strap than a hip belt.
    Additionally, with regard to comfort, I’d like to see some padding added to the grab handles since the nylon loops are extremely uncomfortable to use for more than just grabbing the bag. I had to carry mine in my hand while I was deplaning, and it really dug into my palm after just a minute or two.
    I have the first version, which doesn’t have the compression straps, but it does have a nice “hidden” zippered pocket behind the fidlocks on the front of the bag to store extra cash, passport etc. as well or any other flat items, such as a notebook and pen? Does the new version have this feature too? If so, just adding a pen loop in that pocket would make it a perfect place to store a notebook and pen to fill out customs forms, etc.
    I feel that if you increase the padding on the shoulder straps, add a thicker or wider hip belt, and a little more organization or quick access pockets on the outside of the bag (maybe a side access pocket above the fidlock area with a key chain loop and tether, this would be an almost perfect bag for me. Additionally, I would recommend a lighter color lining on the interior of the bag to create a highlight effect, so you’re able to see your gear better when in daypack mode.
    As you can see, I’m a huge bag nerd, especially with travel bags, and have either tested or used over 40 of them in the last 2 years alone! 😂 All in all, I like the unique features of this bag, and I completely understand that no bag is perfect, but I think the comfort and functionality still need some improvement for the price point. Would love to speak with you further about this, but I think you’re really on to something. Would also love to check out the Shelter at some point when funds allow.

    Really love this backpack because of its ecosystem and the brand is going for sustainability and it will also fit my lifestyle (Work, Hiking, Travel). Unfortunately, the option to buy this and ship from Spain to Philippines would cost me $500 >.< Hope it'll be available here in PH as well.

    any numbers about the wardrobe size after the compression ? tropicfeel site declares data only in the standard position.

    • @ZachAgape
      @ZachAgape หลายเดือนก่อน

      Presumably it depends on the contents. They say it allows to compress by up to 20%.

    does adding the camera cube addition bring the backpack over maximum cabin carry-on size?

    • @Tropicfeel
      @Tropicfeel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the camera cube is placed inside the backpack, the backpack won't go over the maximum cabin carry-on size. Of course, we always recommend checking which airline you're taking :)

    How water resistent is it? it looks like it has water resistent materials like around the top zip for the admin compartment.
    Also, theres no compression straps on the new ones but on this one?

    • @ZachAgape
      @ZachAgape หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's water resistent, not water proof. So light to medium rain should be fine, but I wouldn't stay around under a downpoor.

    So the camera cube must take up a slot from the wardrobe?

    • @ZachAgape
      @ZachAgape หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed, I doubt they would both fit next to each other, unless the wardrobe was really compressed and the backpack really fully extended. This still leaves you 2 wardrobe slots and perhaps you could fit extra clothes by squeezing a packing cube on top. If you want more space, I expect you'd need to go for their larger Shelter backpack.
