The spot welded makes things so much quicker too (better value for customers as you get more done!) drilling, plug welding and dressing the welds takes so long
Absolutely love and respect the skill and craftsmanship on display here. I'd buy an old 912/911 (I did own a 1973 911T a long time ago) to restore if I had your metalworking skills. Great stuff. Thank you!
Absolutely, one of my best investments. We have brackets now for all Aircooled 911s from 1965 swb right through to the 993 as well as brackets for E Types and minis! Glad you’re enjoying the channel 👌
Great work and thanks for taking the extra time to share with the world. At around 20:40, you talking about the "kidney bowl". What does that part do structurally for the car? In other words, why it is there?
No problem! The kidney bowl closes the end of the sill, creates a box section that runs up the B pillar and strengthens the junction between the sill and B pillar. The main problem is that it then creates a real dirt and moisture trap which is why this area is always the first to rust out on a 911/912. In the mid 80s they changed the design of the kidney bowl to incorporate the jacking point too.
so nice to see a job done properly , as opposed to watching some of the '' restoration'' guys rolling about on the floor guessing where things go and pie cutting curves.
@@classiccarrevivalsofficial yep , and they talk abot how great they are and what a fantastic job etc etc etc , its a sad old world , but it shows you that some folk really dont know craftsmanship and quality .
Wow! Impressive work! Brilliant!
Thank you! Cheers!
Quality craftsmanship 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 🫡 new video out tomorrow
Good going as usual!
So many memories of decades ago for me. Love to see a spot welder used where possible too.

Thank you!! Bet you regret selling the 911T, lovely car to own!
That jig is worth its weight in gold. Great work as always.

This is what happens when you tow boats in and out of the sea with your car for 60years 😂
Fantastic work 👍
Haha you could be right 😅 thanks
Excellent video and repair work, keep on posting the great work you do 👍
Thanks, will do!
The car lived it's life as a submarine perhaps? 😅 ... Great work so far. The patch panels you've got seem to fit pretty well too, OEM?
Generally speaking the Porsche aftermarket panels (largely by Dansk) aren’t terrible. We’re using a mixture of Genuine and aftermarket on this build

It is certainly a car in need of some TLC.
That’s an understatement 😅

Thank you, glad you’re enjoying it! And some of those guys have hundreds of thousands of subscribers!!

Unfortunately it’s the gift of the gab! Always been the same!
