This was actually a good adaptation of War of the Worlds.

I love how the death by Heat Ray in this movie differs from the mainstream movie. You actually see a hint of pain and fear on their faces as they disintegrate.

You might wanna recount on The Deaths, because the Hermes Class / Scout Tripod is only one seater, Achilles Class - Pre Goliath is a Crew of 4 and finally the Achilles Class - Heavy Tripod is a crew of 6. I watched this good film many times and I still love this.

The thing is, the Martians are at a massive disadvantage. There is nothing they can learn from the humans, but the humans can learn so much from them. Not only that but earth has the home turf advantage.

"If it bleeds, it dies." I watched this years ago and have watched it several times since. It isn't perfect but then, I have never in my 67 years found a movie that was.
This movie wasn't very good. You can tell it was strained a few times by budget and probably director's inexperience

Exactly my thoughts, given how great the designs, the environments and the backgrounds all look! Just sucks that the narrative itself was really constrained and felt... unrealistic, ontop of the logic never ceasing in its relentlessly bouncing all over the place. Honestly feels like the premise in general would definitely benefit from a reboot in the form of a hopefully more flexible series instead of just a movie.
They better make a sequel which is set in a different timeline where the martians succeed in their first invasion and conquered the planet earth while humanity is trying to find a way to fight back

To all that thought this is a steampank reboot and comment it's not faithful to the original, no it's not, it's an animated sequel were ww1 never happens and humans reverse engineered the martian technology and the Martians attack again upgraded with a immunity to the bacteria. It has nothing to do with any of the live action movies. Its just an interpretation of what happened after the book ended.

Strange to make " War of the World " in a steampunk universe
It's not really, it's supposed to be short of a sequel where the humans of the 1915s reverse engineered the technology of the Martians after the invasion that happened in the books ended. Similar to the History Channel's take but instead of Martians invading during WW1, you have humans never starting a world world and create new weaponry to combat a second invasion instead by Martians that....somehow became immune to earth's germs.
So there is no The Great War in this alternate timeline?

Well the original story had them fighting the Martians in the 1890s so.
Gillan Baclayon the book itself is from the 1890s but takes place 20ish years later, in the 1910s so ww1 would’ve been the Martian war.
Haven't seen this movie, but it seems very well designed and thought out, even paying homage to the genres that were prominent in Welle's times, as well as the original alien machine designs

True. Martians may have been a bit more advanced but their numbers were limited by the travel from Mars to earth.

This animated movie is actually one of the closest adaptions of the novel as the plot evolves around human fighting 2nd invasion of Martian after the their 1st unsuccessful one in 1897

One of my favorite war of the worlds films. This is freaking awesome!
I really did enjoy this film but if you want to watch this, don’t except the writing of the film be great. Besides that this film has some great action scenes for a small budget. But the thing is because of the small budget they had to reuse animations multiple times. I do wish I have this on Blu-ray, go ahead and watch it on TH-cam of the full movie for free.

Fun Fact. H.G Wells, who created War of the World's, was born in Kent. Specifically Bromley.and Bromley is remembered as "the birthplace of sci-fi" (or something like that)
Tom Cruise in a mech would've only worked in the sequel; maybe. As for this movie, why weren't the infantry all armed with rocket launchers instead of obviously ineffective submachine guns? They might work against smaller tripods, but they didn't even scratch the battle models.

The original war of the worlds story is the prequel. This movie is supposed to take place after the Martian’s first invasion, with this being the second invasion with the Martian’s now immune to earth’s diseases.

Gave you guys a thumb up. Teddy Roosevelt was a very impressive man then President. I like the idea of the Can Do President in this H G Wells Story we have come to love. Although its a game and fiction it comes down to a feeling of THE what if scenario and in this game and interesting little story you brought to life. You guys did this And its pretty dam cool.

Mech-on-Mech action looks amazing and is great for entertainment. That being said, this is about the level of intelligence as the Pacific Rim movie shows in it's humans when they decide to try and wall off the entire pacific ocean.
Giant walking mechs are an awesome weapon to use against invaders, so long as they don't get immediately destroyed by a single hit from any of the enemy's weapons. Any person with remote knowledge about warfare would decide that giant walking mechs are inferior to a similar number of self-propelled guns. Instead of one large mech that gets one-shot by your enemy, just distribute it's weaponry on 3 or 4 different vehicles. They are harder to hit and the enemy has to hit more of them, so the chance that you'll at least get to fire your ammunition increases manifold.
Not as cool as giant mechs, though.
