Shakatak plays the beautiful music that I treat myself by listening to. Especially at 25:20. That's when I first heard "In Your Eyes" I've heard all the songs Shakatak performed before on this set. But "In Your Eyes" was a wonderful surprise. I'm watching this live performance video by myself so that there are no distractions. I am impressed by Jill Saward's percussion skills. I love listening to her sing also. They sound as great as the first Shakatak CD that I bought (1990-1991). This music brightened and made me happy. It also tremendously reinforced my love for Jazz/Funk/Pop/R&B fusion. I was lucky enough to discover this genre of music being played by a Jazz band at a local venue.

Trancending the live jazz scene with the smooth jazz recording scene is in itself an astonishing achievement. Shakatak has been the soundtrack of my life for 40 years noe.
I've always felt Shakatak and XTC have remained grossly underrated. I guess that's the price for being truly original and refusing to join in with everything MOR going on all around you. The stylish sensitivity of this band's interaction provides an object-lesson in gorgeously tight, attentive and sophisticated ensemble-playing - a joy from beginning to end! Even the slightly tired intonation in the early 'Nightbirds' vocals is completely forgivable when, in general, live performance is of such exceptionally high quality.
I was 8 when they were formed and I never was interested in their smooth sound. Since then I've got my ear in for jazz harmony and spent best part of a decade in a salsa band. Seeing her let rip on the timbales and the bell in the opening number was a surprise and a treat! MORE COWBELL!
Shakatak are an exceptionally BRILLIANT band, I can not say any more than that. Loved this so much, took me back to when I was just a young 18 year old many moons ago. 🥰😇
Shakatak have always been grossly underrated and sadly will always be for some unknown reason. They are an outstanding band.
