The first one was horrifying too but something about that claymation figure in the window *shudder* really got me 😱 All of the first three are like unsettling PSAs/public information films which turn into straight up horror.
This reminds me a lot of the illustrations in the Scary Stories to Tell at Sleepovers books. And there were some surprisingly nasty deaths in there, considering they were grade school books.

@@Goose_BooseYTI don't know man, they might of tried to make it look better than it actually is, especially when trying to sponsor TH-camrs... Eh, oh well.
While the 4th video was actually really interesting, the first video really got me. The innuendo of what was happening to him without seeing it. Wow. Super effective.
Out of the first three videos, the first is the only one that feels well executed. I can grasp the message of the other two, and it seemed like the monsters were meant to be disguised as the "boogieman" of their respective tales, but they weren't all that disguised like the first video's was (the third video was almost disguised but let go of that disguise by the end). The doll with the camera was supposed to make you think the adults were getting off to spying on the kid, but you only realize in the fourth video that they were actually most likely trying to learn his behavior. The other two messages are kinda lost because it's clear the "boogieman" in both are what's important.
I’m glad more people are finding Mr. Friend. His work makes me think of Rankin / Bass made Halloween specials and PSAs. Note: I didn’t make it to the part where he showed Rudolph the red nose reindeer
I like that last one, actually, the second one set up the creatures having higher intelligence, and the third one straight up tricked him into thinking the headset was the problem
i respect the art, it's just doesn't really get me. i don't find it scary really. the first one is indeed disturbing, but the others just felt like the writer didn't really know what scare to put in his scary looking animation. the endings were open like they wanted you to linger on what you just saw, but it doesn't linger with me at all. but thats just my opinion.
I think it strongly depends on how unnerving you find the animation to be while contrasted with horror. I know thats what does it for me even when some of the plots are stupid to me lol
Hey I discorvered you I think something about a year ago and I just wanted to say that I love the topics that you cover and the way you cover them. It's always pleasent to watch a video from you. I also really love that you use metroid music.
HOLY I saw a video about Happy Children ARG early today but didn’t pay much attention. Now knowing that the clay animation is connected is so cool. Edit: Just realized that they aren’t the same but very similar, it’s another ARG to check out though.
I like the idea that the vision pro was showing him the truth. That's not his mom, maybe it never was. Something playing a long con that realized it had been caught.
Tbh I feel like the tone of the three vids are soooo different it’s jarring Like it goes from sorta realistic disturbing child abuse to a math doing monster who flexes on the kid and the fuckin apple vision pro Also I just feel like they’re a little too inspired by the kid and the camera, the designs of the characters look too generic for me and I find it just doesn’t feel natural However I think he should keep cooking, I hope he gets better with story telling and still tries out the more serious and fantastical stuff I guess it’s too new to really tell but I have really mixed feelings
Mimics/“skinwalkers” are such a overused horror concept lately and I’ve been so sick of it tbh The first short was great, super uncomfortable and disturbing but the other ones are just kinda ooo spooky, it’s such a huge jump in tone from the first and just doesn’t mesh well
Oh.. I guess it's because I'm tired, but until you mentioned that this was *like* The Kid and The Camera, I thought this WAS The Kid and The Camera, haha
My partner and I love horror movies, but my boyfriend has banned me from watching those. It scared me on a new, deep level. I can't even listen to the music without panicking.
It's such a cool artstyle for a horror series/set of videos or whatever it is. Thank you for covering it! Excited for what John Friend will do in the future.
I have another theory similar to yours, what if the Olivers are just test dummies for the monsters, A test to see if they can fool other humans, that's what the school is for.
Your mimic theory makes the vr video make more sense. In the beginning when the headset starts glitching out, thats not the headset being corrupted its just broken and the mimic is aware of it, and its switching in and out of the corrupted mom for when the kid takes the headset on and off, it's playing with its food just like the mimic in the "no mouth monster" video.

For the second short, you briefly commented on the monster's design as generic, I believe there's a deliberate approach to its appearance. The monster's silhouette, with its large, vacant eyes and lack of a visible mouth, evokes a sense of uncanny familiarity. This design choice is particularly interesting when considering the monster's predatory nature toward children. The large, vacant eyes, reminiscent of a kitten's, appeal to a child's sense of cuteness and innocence. This design choice, often employed in children's cartoons, can lull victims into a false sense of security. For the child, these large eyes serve as a contrast to the monster's intentions. The absence of a visible mouth, until the gruesome reveal during the feeding, suggests a strategic adaptation. The ability to intentionally hide such a weapon until the last moment allows the monster to blend seamlessly into the child's environment, making it a more effective predator. It's a subtle subversion of expectations, as the creature's true nature is hidden beneath a deceptively harmless exterior. Where any adult would see the obvious uncanny threat for what it is a nieve child may see a friend rather than a foe, as reinforced by the eagerness to help with homework.. The monster's frail and unassuming figure fur reinforces this idea. While not whole original, It's a stark contrast to the traditional, monstrous archetype. This subtle subversion of expectations adds to the short and it's unsettling atmosphere. By presenting a threat that is both familiar and unfamiliar, the challenge the boy faces against preconceived notions of what a monster should look like. While I understand your perspective, I believe the monster's design is more likely than not, a well thought out and deliberate choice, a carefully crafted character that invites deeper interpretation.
This is probably a weird comparison to make, but a lot of these animations give off a similar vibe to “T is for Toilet, the ABCs of Death,” if anyone remembers that. Although a LOT more subtle. Also it sucks that you’re doing poorly financially. I’ll check Patreon when I get home to see if I can’t pitch in.
16:45 yo I love how you just had to laugh at that way you said, "well ok a _child DiEd._ 🙄" That sht had me cackling like a cartoon halloween witch stirring potions
Hey goose! I have some media that i recommend you checking out if it sounds interesting to you. You should check out The Path by Tale of Tales, its a slow paced game that plays on the story of Little red riding hood but with symbolism and things like that. Its pretty much a dark psychological game with six different characters that have some kind of symbolic endings for them and their meanings that YOU or anyone else could think on what they mean if that makes sense.
I definitely think the second one was pretty creepy, but it would've been a lot better if they didn't show the kid dying, the monster revealing it has a mouth at all just to smile at the kid before it cut to black would've left a perfect unknown to the scenario
A very quick synopsis on the series: Episode 1: Don't go to your relative's house they will do *stuff* to you Episode 2: Don't do math it will kill you Episode 3: Milfs will kill you (giggidy) Episode 4: Public Education will kill you Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
The only flaw to your theory is Nightingale and its production hsitory, the newest Mr. Friend short Nightingale was supposed to be published instead of Apple Vision Pro, but they got swapped in order to catch the Apple hype, and it seems so disconnected from everything, but it could also mean that when the shorts got swapped the creator changed things, but it's something to keep note
Unfortunately, I think that the second one is a lot scarier than the first, if only because the kinds of stuff I see in that first video makes me angry-not scared. A problem I've had since I was young alas: if the "monster" is a person, I wanna beat the crap out of the "monster" because with a well-timed bat swing, I can probably win. That monster in the second one? Yeah, not sure at all if I could deal with that, so I actually feel creeped out. As for the third one... First off, really? What kind of theory is that? Occam's Razor, guys. The VR headset helped him see through the illusion of the monster that was planning to do terrible things to him the whole time. If you gotta come up with an extremely convoluted explanation for something simple, no wonder it's not spooky. Hearing dude say "It's confusing, I wish it were more straightforward" when it absolutely is the most straightforward you can get drove me crazy. No comment on the theory at the end. Fun video.
Beside the video, theres this video series i been trying to find, i discovered it one time during a Goose Boose Stream. It had a japanese animator i think and it seemed all cute then poo hits the fan and everytjing got very dark. I dont remember if the horror aspect has a slight Omori design or if it was claymation. Maybe both. I dont remember, i just remember it was highly praised by not just goose boose but by other horror enjoyers
Vivinos is Korean not Japanese, but their older animations have a lot of cutely-animated girls in horror situations, could that be it? (Goose Boose is where I discovered their channel.) Even if not, I highly recommend it! Lots of dark but not annoyingly dark content. (Their new series Alien Stage isn't really horror, but it's also very good.)

I really think that apple vision pro video would be so much better if it just ended when he stabs his mom, the rest of it is unnecessary and adds too much confusion. The math monster one starts off fine but i just can't take the image of this thing reaching over and biting the kids head off seriously, it looks so silly to me, partly thanks to the artstyle. The first video I think was the best, really creepy without needing to lean on the crutch of a scary monster so much as the others do. And I honestly can't be bothered to care about happy school, I don't think every horror series needs to be some big mystery for the viewer to solve with complex lore. Honestly I think it would be better if there were less of that. Maybe I just need to go watch some Twilight Zone lol
That's deep. It's like Five Nights At Freddy's but if FNAF were actually dark and scary again, considering Five Nights At Freddy's has become the next Goosebumps or Are You Afraid Of The Dark.and by the way,I can't really if that doll like came to life by itself like Chucky,Slappy The Dummy from Goosebumps or fucking Freddy Fazbear,or if it's a person wearing a suit that looks like that damn doll(I'm guessing it's the aunt, since she's taller and thinner and kind of attractive as she appears to be younger than the uncle, the uncle is way too big and beefy,so it's gotta be the aunt because she's taller, skinner and lighter so she won't wake up and spook the kid).

I know their past, but from what they've shown me and have responded with, I'm convinced that they're a capable sponsor to be featured on my videos.
I was gonna say the same lmfao
The first one with the little boy and his uncle watching him I think the moral is that you never know where darkness lurks that even a close family or friend could be a monster
Love ya goose, ive been using your Tramathon series as a comfort since you started it 5 years ago. Its great to help me sleep or just to get through the day. These videos have been something i could turn to when nothing else could help. Just wanted to say thanks for everything you do. I dont usually comment but i felt like i needed to say thank you. 💚💚💚
The first one was horrifying too but something about that claymation figure in the window *shudder* really got me 😱
All of the first three are like unsettling PSAs/public information films which turn into straight up horror.
After the monster solved the last math problem I half expected it to wink at the camera.
This reminds me a lot of the illustrations in the Scary Stories to Tell at Sleepovers books. And there were some surprisingly nasty deaths in there, considering they were grade school books.
i love your pfp so much. jane lane is so me frfr
I’m still haunted by the one about the bride who got locked in a trunk and they found her body years later and the illustration with it
how people are still doing betterhelp sponsors is beyond me, I thought everyone realized it was a scam like 5 years ago

Unlike urban spook i prefer this series due to how dark it is and its from a Childs pov
While the 4th video was actually really interesting, the first video really got me. The innuendo of what was happening to him without seeing it. Wow. Super effective.
All those old Xmas claymations are done by Rankin-Bass if anyone wanted to look more into them
Out of the first three videos, the first is the only one that feels well executed.
I might be in the minority for saying this but I'm a bit mixed on this series.
i respect the art, it's just doesn't really get me. i don't find it scary really. the first one is indeed disturbing, but the others just felt like the writer didn't really know what scare to put in his scary looking animation. the endings were open like they wanted you to linger on what you just saw, but it doesn't linger with me at all. but thats just my opinion.
@@mr_mustache5594 same! I watched Bad Boy Timothy and I wasn't all that scared

I don’t care if it’s scary or not, still entertaining to me
I think it strongly depends on how unnerving you find the animation to be while contrasted with horror. I know thats what does it for me even when some of the plots are stupid to me lol

This was exactly my thought, too.
Love a goose video after a rough day
Tbh I feel like the tone of the three vids are soooo different it’s jarring
Like it goes from sorta realistic disturbing child abuse to a math doing monster who flexes on the kid and the fuckin apple vision pro
Also I just feel like they’re a little too inspired by the kid and the camera, the designs of the characters look too generic for me and I find it just doesn’t feel natural
However I think he should keep cooking, I hope he gets better with story telling and still tries out the more serious and fantastical stuff
I guess it’s too new to really tell but I have really mixed feelings

Mimics/“skinwalkers” are such a overused horror concept lately and I’ve been so sick of it tbh
The first short was great, super uncomfortable and disturbing but the other ones are just kinda ooo spooky, it’s such a huge jump in tone from the first and just doesn’t mesh well
"Don't trust your kids!" - Goose Boose, 2024
20:11 Creepy ending aside, "ow, mom, that hurts" is a crazy thing to say to the person you just stabbed multiple times.
Wait, so these weren't made by the same person who made the kid and the camera?
Your mimic theory makes the vr video make more sense. In the beginning when the headset starts glitching out, thats not the headset being corrupted its just broken and the mimic is aware of it, and its switching in and out of the corrupted mom for when the kid takes the headset on and off, it's playing with its food just like the mimic in the "no mouth monster" video.

Good video. Terrible sponsor. I saw your pinned comment and dont understand how your not desperate if you know what they did and still took the sponsor. This isnt a person who deserves a second chance. Its a corporation thats fucked over a ton of people. Pretty damn dissapointing but get that bag ig.
I thought this was the creator behind The Boy and the Clock. Im loving these new stop motion horrors that's popping out.
these feel directly inspired by the kid and the camera
This is probably a weird comparison to make, but a lot of these animations give off a similar vibe to “T is for Toilet, the ABCs of Death,” if anyone remembers that. Although a LOT more subtle.
Also it sucks that you’re doing poorly financially. I’ll check Patreon when I get home to see if I can’t pitch in.

Real OGs remember when Mr. Friend did creepypasta narrations
I definitely think the second one was pretty creepy, but it would've been a lot better if they didn't show the kid dying, the monster revealing it has a mouth at all just to smile at the kid before it cut to black would've left a perfect unknown to the scenario
Just found Mr Friend a while ago, Love these short horror PSA looking video's, i will agree the first video is more disturbing
A very quick synopsis on the series:
Episode 1: Don't go to your relative's house they will do *stuff* to you
Episode 2: Don't do math it will kill you
Episode 3: Milfs will kill you (giggidy)
Episode 4: Public Education will kill you
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Thank for covering this series. The 1st one is very scary. The 2nd if goofy. 👻
Hey man! I’ve always loved your videos and content. I really hope your financial problems get better because I really love these videos :)
The math monster design isnt bad tbh. The actual animated short is too ridiculous and just feels funny
You know what makes a bad theory? When its based on nothing.
The Horror Series That Made Me Comfortable | Mr. Enemy
Breaking Bad Walter trapped in the car scene when Goose was doing the Ad read
